Chapter 58

L I N D Y

“Welcome home Lindy!!!”

I was taken aback as soon as the party poppers popped and I see everyone in this house greeting me with smiles on their faces. I see Liam, Louis, Niall and Zayn who came all the way to celebrate this day with me which means a lot to me. I see Martha who ran towards me and hugged me with tears in her eyes which made me cry too. I see Avery holding baby Dahlia in her hands with a smile on their faces. Avery looked healthier now and I guess she has been getting sober. I am proud of her. Gemma was here as well together with Mrs. Anne and it was so good to see them. I see Calvin too, with his new beau and he looked happier now as well. I see Doctor Fox in here as well and she looked so relieved to see me.

Everyone is here and I couldn’t ask for more.

They welcomed me with smiles which makes me feel like I they have been waiting for my return. I didn’t expect they would all gather here today for me. There were foods on the table and balloons on the floor and floating on the ceiling. We were eating and talking and laughing. Things that I missed since I left and seemed like nothing changed but at the same time, things have changed.

Physically, Niall has brown hair now which I assume is his real hair color. Zayn is rocking a manbun with fading haircut on the sides and he seemed a little bit more good-looking than ever. Gosh, yep I am still crushing on Zayn. Liam got a bit buffer than the last time I saw him and he still has the same clean-cut haircut. Louis looks the same with his baby face and cute smile and is still so goddamn loud and noisy.

Avery told me that she is going back to school and that she enrolled for a community college where she used her own savings. It’s something very mature of her to do. I guess Dad is still pretty hard on her but I wish it would all workout with her and it seems like she is no longer depending on anyone since she gave birth. Truly admiring.

Martha on the other hand is definitely looking good in her short hair and seems like she’s moved on from everything that happened to her. I am happy seeing her back to her normal self and it seems like she’s back with Niall since they were holding hands.

“Thank you all for coming today.” I tell everyone while we eat.

“It was all Harry’s idea and we couldn’t say no because it was for you.” Louis answers.

The lads nodding too.

“Also, we have been wanting to see you. All of us have been waiting and it’s so good to finally see you here.” Liam adds.

“Thank you.” I answered.

As the meal continued, we spent more time talking about things that I missed while I was inside the mental facility. Everyone was happy and I was too.

“Hey.” Martha approaches me in the kitchen.

“Hey.” I smiled.

She takes my hand, “I am so glad to finally see you.”

“I am happy too. I mean, I surely missed a lot of things while I was away.”

She smiles at me, “You did but nothing really changed at all. We were always waiting for you. Harry has always been waiting for you.”

I can’t help but smile.

“I mean, he… he did an amazing job Lindy.” She continues. “He was juggling being a father and a celebrity at the same time. There was never a day that he would talk about you to the twins. He even shows them your picture everyday so that they would know how their mom looks like.” Her words brings tears to my eyes.

No wonder the kids knew me when they saw me.

“He taught them well and… it was so awe-inspiring. He waited patiently for you and… when he knew you were going to discharged, he cried.” She adds.

“He did?”

She nods, “He damned did. I was with Niall when we came that day.”

I grin, “Ah, so you and Niall huh.”

She smiles sheepishly, “It is something that I have been wanting to tell you.”

I gapes, “Well there are some changes, I see.”

She giggles and she looks so happy, “We got back together two months after I got into prison. He reached out to me and got so worried and—”

“About that.” I said softly cutting her off. “I’m sorry if you were placed in that kind of situation where—”

“No.” She says firm and holds my hands. “It wasn’t your fault. Let us moved passed it because it’s something I don’t want you to remember. It’s something that we should move on from. I love you and I can never hate you.”

“Thank you Martha.” I hugged her tight.

As soon as the day finished, the twins were sleeping soundly on our bed after I tucked them to sleep. This was the perfect time for me to be a mother to them after a year long or being away. The door slowly creaks open and I see Harry’s head popped out with a smile on his face while his eyes scanning the twins.

I smile at him as he asks in a soft voice, “Come with me for a second.”

I stood on my feet, fixed the blanket over the twins and kisses both of their foreheads before I walked closer to the door. “What is it?” I asked.

“I have something to show you.”

“Show me?”

He nods.

“What is it?” I asked again.

“Relax. You will see it. C'mon.” He takes my hand and walks me to another room where I see a piano inside.

I gapes, “I didn’t know there was a piano in here.”

“I did a little renovation while you were away.” He smiles and walks me to the piano chair. “Please, sit down.”

I obliged and he sits next to me.

“Are you going to sing for me?” I ask him.

“You are a smartass gal.” He jokes.

I chuckle as I stare at him and his dimpled smile, “I miss you.”

“Baby I missed you a whole lot.” He leans to me and kissed my lips.

“But it felt like you were always with me since you were writing to me every single day and it was one of the reasons to keep me going.” I say against his lips.

He cups my cheeks and rubs his thumb against my skin, “I had to do everything I could to support you.”

“You made me stronger than I have ever been and I am indebted to you.” I begin to cry.

He plants a kiss on my forehead, “You are not indebted to me. You never will be and I don’t want you to think that way. I love you so much and I will do everything I can to help you and to support you.”

“Thank you Harry.” I smile.

He smiles back and gives me a quick kiss on the lips. “You remember the song that I wrote for you?”

“You wrote me a lot of songs.” I smiled.

“Right. But the recent one.” He says. “You’re music to my eyes.”

“Ah, the unfinished one.”

He nods. “I finished it.”

“Lets hear it.”

Harry begins to play the piano and started singing the words which felt so much emotions on it. His voice was filled with so much power and feelings that he has kept inside him for so long. Listening to him sing again makes me feel a little bit too emotional Because this was one of the things that I missed so badly.

My tears were streaming on my face as I listen to him sing and right as soon as he finished, he was teary eyed too. This kind of relationship is something that I would want to have for the rest of my life. I am beyond the words thankful.

Out of nowhere, Harry stands from the piano chair and walks to somewhere inside the room. I looked over to where he was heading, “Harry?” I called out.

He was not answering but he got something from the table and took a second before he spins around to face me. He smiles at me.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

He begins to walk closer to where I was sitting down and held my hand, “I have never wanted something and someone to be permanent in my life before I met you. I love you with all I have left and I am willing to love you more with everything I could give.”

My heart was surging with emotions and this place was too romantic. I gasped as soon as he dropped to one knee while he was holding my hand tight with tears in his eyes. He finally pulled a small box and opened it where I see a ring inside.

“Will you marry me Lindy?” He asks.

I smiled with tears flowing over my cheeks as I nod vigorously, “Yes! I will marry you Harry!” I say, shaking and in shock.

The moment he placed the ring on my finger, we crashed onto each other’s arms.

Three months passed, Harry and I got married. It wasn’t a big wedding and we both wanted it to be solemn and more private. The guests weren’t allowed to have their phones with them in the venue but only the hired photographers were allowed to take photos. We invited our families and close friends and it wasn’t much a big of a wedding. There were only less than a hundred people invited and it was something that Harry and I wanted to happen because our relationship had been far too publicized to the public eye.

Honestly, the media didn’t know about the engagement until they photographed me a week before my wedding while I was accidentally sporting my engagement ring. I had been pretty much avoiding the paps and being interviewed because I didn’t want anyone to hear things coming from me. I had enough of people stipulating on my own words and making a whole lot of story out of it then use it against me.

My mental health is much healthier now and I have been on that road where I don’t want to see myself again.

After the wedding, Harry and I decided to have our honeymoon in Bahamas and brought our kids with us since it was a good day to spend more time with my family. It was a perfect vacation for us and we wouldn’t want the kids to be left behind. Martha insisted on watching over the kids for a week but then it was hard to be away from the twins knowing that I have been away before for too long.

Looking back, I felt so different now and my way of thinking changed too. I feel like I am a whole different person after my year-long stay in the asylum. I no longer feel stuck in my own negative emotions and thoughts and God how I was glad that I was able to get through it all. That kind of burden felt so heavy inside my chest and now that I feel myself free, I am nowhere near being sad and I am nowhere near living my life in constant fear.

I am happy.

I am loved.

I am accepted.

I am free.
