Chapter 76
Alex’s POV
“Tim’s behind us” I tell Jessica. “What about Toby; are we going to let him know?” she asks me. “Not yet. Wait and see if we need to go ahead first. Then we will fill him in on what is happening.” Last night’s conversation with Jeremy gave us an idea. Most of the leaders agree; there are others that are leaking information. We just don’t know who. We fear Jeremy’s involvement will have dire consequences on both him and Pedro and we need to talk to him about it.
I look out the window from our living area and let out a deep breathe. “We can’t trust anyone around here. Sharon and Richard are two prime examples; Judy is still hurting from Sharon’s betrayal” I sigh. “I don’t know who is passing on information and who isn’t anymore” Jessica says; repeating my thoughts.
“Well; there is only one way to find out. And the best way is to continue with what we are doing” I smile and wrap my arms around her. “Let’s go; I want Jems to come to our room, not here” I tell her.
*“Jems; can you come to my room for a moment”* I link.
He knocks on the door; “You don’t have to knock Jems; we asked you to come here” Jessi calls out. He opens the door and sits on the edge of the bed. “What is it?” “Can you tell us exactly what happened yesterday; when you got to where the tunnel was?”
He takes a breath; “we were downwind from it. I could smell citrus and chocolate coming up from the tunnel and Kye was jumping around in my head. From what everyone around me has told me; it was a sure way of recognising why I was attracted to the scent. I told Master Joe; I thought I was putting the mission in jeopardy and I was going to leave. He knew what was going on and told the others. Master Leo said to go to him to see if he would let us in.”
He pauses; and takes another deep breath; “I did; but Pedro already knew we were there because of the cameras. He said his bear, Spartacus; or Sparty as he called him yesterday, was going crazy too. That’s when he said to call my friends over. He said he knew where we were from because he fought Master Joe and Nelson on the night you mothers were taken and he wasn’t going to tell the others we were there because of me. He explained what Gilda did; I gave him my number and Master Joe wrote a note to Gilda. Then we left” he finishes.
I stare at him a moment; “Alex and myself want to have a chat with you about some of the information Pedro gave you last night” Jessica tells him. He frowns at us. “It’s nothing bad, we just have some concerns and would like to discuss them with you” I add.
“What concerns? He’s trying to help us; or me to be precise” he growls. “We aren’t saying he isn’t trying to help. It’s the information he gave you about Sharon and Richard” Jessica smiles at him. “What about it?” he questions; not understanding what is wrong with it.
“Jeremy; there is a couple of different reasons why information is given. For example; me being dead is to make the opposition think our defences are down; it plays in our favour. Pedro is a guard and although the information he gave us is harmless; it can have negative effect on Pedro; especially if he is seen with you” I tell him. He opens his mouth to answer; “We know you both are being discreet; that’s not our concern” Jessi stops him before he can say anything.
“What is your concern, then?” he huffs. “Our concern is; if they find out he has given you information; they may harm Pedro under the act of treason” I say to him. “They may do that; no questions asked if word gets back, you have been seen with him” Jessica adds. He draws out a breath; “What can we do? I don’t want him to get hurt or killed because of me” he says; fear creeping across his face.
Jessica and myself grin; “What?” he asks looking between Jessica and me. “We have a mission for you and Pedro; do you think he will be up for it?” Jessica says changing the grin to a full smile; showing off her dimple.
“What is it?” He answers. We both grin at him again.

Tobias’ POV
Alex, Jessica and Jeremy have been very secretive all morning. I don’t know what they are doing and it worries me. I asked Alex and he said it’s confidential; what can be confidential that he can’t tell his partner in crime about it?
**“Relax Toby; they will tell us when they can. There has to be a reason they can’t disclose what they are doing”** Tyler tells me. **“I know; it’s frustrating being kept out of the loop.” “It’s abnormal; you are. But there has to be an explanation”** he reasons with me.
I look at Olivia; “What do you think?” “I’m with Ty; there has to be a reason why. Just wait; they will tell us what is going on. There is a leader’s meeting scheduled; it may come out there” she smiles. “Maybe; with not knowing who to trust it may not either. Would it be wrong to kill a dead wolf?” I laugh. “Only if the dead wolf is your Alpha in arms” she laughs back.
“YOU CAN’T TELL ME TO STAY AWAY FROM MY MATE; YOU MAY BE AN ALPHA BUT THE MATE BOND IS STRONGER THAN YOU.”
“That’s Jeremy” I say to Olivia. We head out my door; Alex and Jessica come to theirs as well. “Calm down Jems; what’s going on?” I ask him. “Your brother is a fucktard. He told me I wasn’t allowed to go see Pedro because he is in the Maple Clan. SO, WHAT! YOU AREN’T GOING TO STOP ME” he continues to shout at Tim.
“Jeremy; there has to be a reason Tim doesn’t want you to see him at the moment. If we can discuss this calmly” I suggest; trying to defuse the situation. “NO; YOU WILL JUST TAKE HIS SIDE. I’M LEAVING; YOU ALL CAN KISS MY ASS” he screams; running out of the safehouse.
“What the hell was that all about?” I ask; looking at Tim. He smirks at me; and heads back into his room. “He is in on it too” Tyler huffs. “I think, Olivia and myself need to have a talk with my brother, Alex and Jessica. Right now!”
“You two; with me, now” I yell at the pair and march to Tim’s room. Olivia follows us in and I shut the door. “Will the three of you care to tell me; what just happened?” They look at each other and grin. Now I know they are up to something.
