"Big Mom, do you have a business with this Moron?" One of the security guards asked Kate, trying to sound concerned.
"Did he offend you?" The other one asked.
"Yes. He got my son arrested." She replied sharply, not wanting to continue the conversation.
"Damn! This moron is really getting on our nerves. How dare he? Doesn't he know who you're?"
"First, it's the Sterlings, now It's the Carls." The first guard said to his fellow.
"Mom, how can we help?"
"Just take me to him or show me where he could be right now." Kate said, growing impatient already. "I'll deal with him myself."
Kate knows them better than anyone. They never really cared about anyone, only feigning concern to get favor from people. And she's not ready for their facade and fake praises and likes.
"Ok Mom. Follow me."
Kate followed him and he led her through the compound and into the company's main building.
People who recognized her began to whisper among themselves.
"Look! It's the Managers Mom."
"Who knows what she's come to do here this morning, after Mr. Sterling's warning."
"She really must be a tough woman to come here."
The security guard took her straight to the elevator.
"Big mom, when you arrive at the 7th floor, Take a turn to your left. You'll see a corridor leading up to the Janitors quarter. That's where you'll see him."
"Alright then..." Kate said and began walking towards the elevator but the security guards called out to her.
"Wait!"
"What?" Kate stopped. She knows what is coming, and she is ready to put this security guard in his place.
"Big Mom, I was wondering if you have anything for the boys?"
Kate turned to look at him, her heart growing with anger. If she was impatient earlier, now she's angry.
"How dare you?" She shrieked." Are you out of your goddamn mind to demand some money from me for just a question I asked you?"
"Calm… calm down Mom." He lowered his voice.
"Don't you dare tell me to calm down. What do you ordinary security guards take me for? Are you stupid? Do you know you can get sacked from here at once if my daughter finds out about this."
"Please, Mom. I'm sorry mom, I didn't mean it that way."
People who were close by began to wonder what was going on between them both.
"Now get out of my sight before I get angry."
The guard nodded and scurried away feeling embarrassed and scared as he does not want to lose his job.
'That was close! I nearly lost my Job!'
Kate turned and walked towards the elevator fuming with anger. The incident with the security guard tends to fuel her anger the more and she kinda likes it as she would pour everything all on James.
As if luck was on her side, she spotted James and another young man exiting the elevator.
Immediately James noticed her, he knew trouble was on the way.
'This doesn't look good,' 'what is she doing here?' he thought.
Without hesitation, she rushed up to James, grabbed his shirt, and let loose a barrage of curses.
"You son of a b*tch! Moron! You Pauper!" She cried out.
"What's the meaning of this?" James asked her with a confused face.
"How dare you arrest my son? Who do you think you are?" Her voice cut through the hallway.
James' face remained calm despite the chaos, and tried to gently peel her fingers off his shirt.
"Let go of me," he said in a composed tone.
Meanwhile, Anderson, the young man who had come with James, attempted to step in.
"Ma'am, please release him. This isn't professional," he said with a hint of frustration."We're on our way somewhere."
Kate, however, shot him a glare that made her intentions clear. Her actions weren't up for debate.
"Get my son released or else you'd wish were never born." She continued.
"Get your hands off me!" James continued. "Your son deserves everything he's getting now. He assaulted me first."
"And so what?" Kate defended Henry." You reaped our family for good three years. You couldn't bring anything to the table and you have the guts to think you're right."
More people turned their attention to the scene. A growing group gathered, their expressions reflecting a mix of curiosity and excitement. In hushed conversations among them:
"I heard they arrested Kate's son. That's James over there," one person whispered, filling others in.
"This is getting intense," someone else murmured, watching the drama unfold.
Some of the workers began to pick sides with Kate.
"Is this not her ungrateful son in law? I hope she deals with him mercilessly."
"This young man does not know his end is near. Who ever bites the hands that feeds you? He also got Mr Thomas Sterling s son arrested yesterday."
Meanwhile, the drama continued and more senior workers began to gather.
The news that there's a fight between a middle-aged woman and a janitor spread throughout the company like wildfire.
Unfortunately for Alisha, she was arriving at work that very moment to sign her name before rushing off to the ESU barracks to see Jaxon and Henry.
When she got to the main building, she got hold of the news that a fight was going on between a middle-aged woman and a janitor.
She knew it was her Mom and James.
Quickly she dashed towards the scene where the noise was coming from.
She began to pull through the crowd to get to where her Mom was confronting James.
'Oh God What have I done to deserve this embarrassment?' she cried wordlessly.
"Mom!" She cried out holding her mother's hand. "Mom, what are you doing? You're embarrassing us." She continued with tears streaming down her eyes.
Kate heard her voice and turned towards her.
"Stay out of this Alisha! If you won't help me deal with this ex - husband of yours who got your brother arrested, stay out of this."
"This is not the way to solve the problem, Mom. You're causing more problems. Stop this madness."
"I'm doing everything I can to release your only brother and instead of you supporting me, you're calling me mad!" Kate stiffened. "Now I'll show you what real madness is."
She proceeded to unzip her purse with one hand and try to bring something out.
"What're you doing now?" James asked. "Just let me go already in peace. This will not end well for you."
"You just wait and see."
"What's going on here?!" A thunderous voice sounded from the stairs.
Everyone turned and looked to see who it was that just said that.
James too, turned and looked and saw Eric, Lana and Mr. Sterling standing on the staircase above them with some body guards.
"Now what's going on here?!"
