It was Jaxon who asked James where he was going, and as James turned, he caught sight of Jaxon and Alisha approaching his direction. The two were holding hands like teenage lovers on a first date.
Jaxon and Alisha were surprised to see him back so soon, they thought he was going to spend about three months in the hospital to get fully recovered.
Alisha didn't even care to visit him or ask about his health when he was in the hospital. Her mind had been poisoned against him, and her hatred for him had increased.
"Didn't you hear him, you bone-head? Or are you becoming deaf now!"
James responded calmly to them, "As you can see, I've been offered a job here, and I'm just resuming work."
Alisha, who was now the manager of the company, was quick to question him. "Speaking of work, do you know what time it is? Are you supposed to be coming to work at this late hour?"
She didn't bother checking her watch, all she wanted was to mistreat James. He was now working under her, she seized the opportunity to assert her authority and dominance over him.
She wanted to make sure she frustrated him until he quit working in the same company as she did. The sight of him irritates her even more.
James, aware that he was not late, glanced at his own watch and boldly said, "I think you should check your facts right and not rush to conclusions. Besides, work starts at 8:00 AM, and it's only 7:45 AM."
He paused for a moment, crossing his arms behind his back, showing he was confident in his reply.
"You couldn't even afford a functioning watch," Alisha taunted, looking at James's wrist.
She continued.
"And your clothes, James! Are you wearing rags now?"
"What I'm wearing is not your business. I suggest you mind your own business," James replied calmly.
He knew his clothes weren't expensive, but he didn't see anything wrong with them. After all, he was wearing an official uniform as required by the company for its employees.
"In case you don't know, I was told that this is the official company uniform for workers in this company, and neither of you is even close to wearing anything official, so you have no right to question my mode of dressing," James clarified. He went ahead to say, "You both look rather unofficial. How pathetic!"
Jaxon was furious. "How dare you speak to your manager like that, you disrespectful jerk!"
James responded, "Our manager, I suppose unless you're one of those who don't actually work here but still get paid because your father runs the company."
Indeed Jaxon doesn't work in the company but gets paid every week because his father used to be the CEO.
Jaxon became vexed when James mentioned his father. His face turned red with anger. He grabbed James by the collar, attempting to squeeze life out of him.
A crowd of workers began gathering around the scene…
"Causing trouble already on your first day at work?"
"You're the least qualified person here, and you want to fight your superiors?"
James realized that his plan was proceeding flawlessly, and it was time for him to give the signal.
He secretly pressed a tiny device hidden in his pocket. This sent an alert to the Special Unit waiting outside.
This was part of the plan James had coordinated with Eric.
In no time, the officers rushed into the premises upon receiving the signal. They found Jaxon angrily grabbing James by his shirt collar, and attacking him viciously.
These were no ordinary officers; they were members of a special force unit known as the ESU (Emerald Security Unit), unlike the ones who had previously arrested James.
The ESU Agents approached the situation by apprehending both men for fighting.
"What is going on here?"
Alisha falsely claimed that James had attacked Jaxon first, "Officer, this man attacked first. And my fiancee was only trying to defend himself." She said pointing at James.
Three people from the crowd also supported her trying to gain favor from her side because she is their manager.
"I saw it too. This guy definitely started it."
"Yes, me too."
"He's been causing drama ever since he arrived this morning."
"Alright, calm down, all of you. Let's get to the bottom of this." The second ESU Agent declared.
Alisha interjected, "You're wasting time. I already told you he attacked first. Get him arrested."
"Ma'am, we don't work like that." The officer continued, "Both of them will have to come with us for questioning."
"Look I'm the manager of this company and I demand that you get this filth out of here."
James who had been calm this whole time finally spoke, "Don't listen to her lies Officers. I suggest you check the CCTV footage to determine what really happened here."
He even presented his doctor's report, emphasizing, "And just so you know, officers, I'm under medication. This is my doctor's report."
The ESU agents decided to check the CCTV footage. They knew that video evidence could reveal the truth.
They reviewed the footage and saw what happened. It became evident that James was innocent and that he hadn't initiated the fight.
The head agent quickly ordered for Jaxon's arrest, "Arrest this man immediately!"
James smiled to himself. The drama was turning in his favor, and he was enjoying every moment of it.
Jaxon arrogantly burst out, "Do you know who I am? My father is Thomas Sterling, and I am the heir to the Sterling Dynasty. You have no right to touch me." thinking it would intimidate the officers.
"We don't care who you are or what family you belong to. You are under arrest by the Emerald Security Unit for assaulting a man under a doctor's report and we've received complains that you have previously framed this innocent man and got him thoroughly beaten up for a crime he did not commit. You have the right to remain silent or any word you say could be used against you in the court of law," one of the agents firmly stated revealing his ID.
However, when they realized these were ESU Agents, they all went pale.
Alisha, desperate to avoid trouble, started pleading, "Please, sir, let him go. Please, please, please," and she even knelt and cried in front of everyone. However, the officers remained unmoved.
"Ma'am, you are coming with us too for bearing false accusations," another officer declared.
Alisha tried to use her position as the manager, saying, "Oh no, I'm the manager here, please, James, don't let them do this to me." But the officers were resolute.
"Officers, please take them away. I have no time for dishonest people," James requested. "And also, arrest the three who testified against me."
The three individuals who testified against James were handcuffed alongside Jaxon and Alisha. They all began pleading with the officers, but Jaxon remained silent, while one of the three even accidentally peed on herself out of fear.
The crowd that had gathered began to murmur over what just happened.
"So, this man was innocent all along?"
"I can't believe we jumped to conclusions so quickly."
The ESU agents showed no mercy as they led them away.
Just when the ESU agent left, Eric called James and asked, "How did it go?"
James replied, "Smoothly. Jaxon and Alisha are in custody now."
Eric then said, "What's next?"
James responded, "Let's go get Henry."
