Chapter 40 Trouble Making Monster
Nami walked limply to her room. She walked through the halls and corridors, all eyes on her. People who hadn't yet returned to their rooms looked at her with scorn and whispered.
The looks of disbelief and horror in their eyes made her feel déjà vu, as if she were reliving what she'd been through. Whatever they thought of her, it only made her feel worse. From now on, they would definitely think of her as a troublemaking monster.
"I'm back!" She said as she opened her bedroom door. Inside, Lea and Sydney were waiting for her. They had prepared three cups of instant noodles in spicy mushroom and chicken broth, three cans of juice, and several packets of potato chips.
"Nami, what took you so long? We've been waiting for me!" Sydney protested shortly after Nami opened the door. Meanwhile, Lea stood at the table, holding a kettle of hot water she'd boiled on the electric stove.
"You should have just let Isabella take care of her. You didn't have to be so nice to her, Nami!" Lea blurted out. She poured hot water from the kettle into three cups of instant noodles and brewed them.
"How are your necks? Have you had any treatment?"
"You carried Mariah and went to get help for her instead of checking on us. You're cruel!" Sydney pouted, even though she was joking. But she was happy that Nami had taken such a risk to help them.
"It's not like that, Sydney. I did it because she seemed to be in a lot of pain!" Nami said frantically. She really thought Sydney was mad at her.
Sydney and Lea fell silent and looked at each other. The silence lasted for a few seconds until they both burst out laughing, leaving Nami the only one clueless.
"Hahaha...Nami, you're so funny!" Sydney said, laughing out loud.
"Syd, you're laughing so loud. Look, Nami confused!"
"Haha...yeah, I'm sorry! Nami, let's eat. You said you were really hungry, right? But there's only instant noodles, potato chips, biscuit sticks, and canned juice. Is that okay?"
"Yeah, it's okay. This is more satisfying than having nothing to eat at all." Nami was relieved that she seemed to be able to eat now.
They each took a cup of instant noodles and ate them gratefully. After a hard day of training, they had to skip a precious dinner. Now they had to make do with instant noodles and a few snacks.
"This is really delicious," Nami said, eating it greedily.
"Maybe it's because you're so hungry."
"But it's really delicious. If I asked Levi to try it, he definitely wouldn't want to. He hates instant foods like this."
"Oh, so Professor Levi doesn't like instant foods?" Lea had just learned this. As a true fan, she was happy every time she learned a new fact about her idol.
"Yes, he also doesn't like potato chips, cheap snacks, and canned drinks. He has a special chef who cooks everything he eats, except when he's eating at a restaurant."
"Rich people and nobles definitely have personal chefs. My family and Sydney's family too, in our house too, there is a chef. He will cook for everyone in the house. But it seems like Professor Levi Sanders is on a different level, his chef only cooks for him, right?"
"Yes, there are several cooks in the lab who cook for everyone in the lab. But since Levi is so picky, he still demands his chef cook special meals for him. He's a troublesome person. If a famine occurs, I think he'll be the first to die," Nami said as she sipped her instant noodle soup.
Lea and Sydney shared the same thought: Nami would also starve to death if Levi died, considering the person who had been feeding her had died.
"So, how's Mariah? Has she been taken to the hospital?" Lea asked. Although she didn't want to worry about Mariah, if Mariah died, it would only make Nami a suspect, and that would mean she'd be in big trouble, even if she meant to help her and Sydney.
"It looks like her injuries are pretty bad. I hope none of her bones are crushed or broken."
Hearing her answer, Lea and Sydney shuddered. If Nami were to say something like that, it meant it had happened before. They started to wonder, how strong is Nami that she can make other people die with just one hug from her?
"Nami, be honest, have you ever killed someone before?" Sydney asked worriedly. She was terrified of being hugged by a superhuman like Nami.
Nami paused for a moment, trying to remember and count how many people she had nearly killed.
After counting, she couldn't bring herself to tell Lea and Sydney. Although she had never actually attacked anyone first, given her strength, even the slightest counterattack could have nearly killed her opponent.
"I don't remember the exact number, but it must have been more than 20."
