Chapter 31 The Center Of Attention
"Levi, I miss him so much," she thought to herself. Nami began to feel a surge of something called "missing a loved one."
Lea and Sydney, seeing her lying glum and listless in bed, thought the same thing: "Where did that energetic girl who amazed everyone all day go?"
"Our phones were confiscated this morning, Nami, come on! Can you call him again this weekend?" Sydney tried to comfort her. But it didn't make her feel any better. Ever since she thought Levi was shy about expressing his true feelings, she'd been suffering from a kind of erotomania.
Watching Nami's behavior, Lea could only sigh and shake her head. She felt a little jealous and envious that Nami could be so close to the idol she admired so much.
"It seems Sydney has managed to brainwash you and make you truly believe that Professor Levi has romantic feelings for you." Lea tried to criticize her by cornering Sydney.
"Hey, why me?"
"You see, now that you've said that, Nami's become so moody and unclear!"
"But Professor Levi might actually be embarrassed to express his feelings and affection for Nami. I'm sure he is!"
"Come on, shut your mouth! You really shouldn't say anything unnecessary!"
"Why am I being blamed? Nami, are you okay? You've been so energetic all day. You can even beat Prince Jacob's running speed," Sydney said. Trying to determine what Nami was really feeling, before they returned to their room that afternoon, Nami kept complaining about not being able to contact Levi until the weekend.
Nami, still lying listlessly on her bed, took a deep breath and let it out heavily, as if expressing deep despair.
"I miss Levi. Now that I think about it, there are lots of girls who like him. In the lab too. I envy them being able to spend all day with Levi."
"Is that why you're feeling down?"
"I-I just found out that Levi has feelings for me, but I've been oblivious to it. I feel sorry for Levi. He must be crying because he misses me right now, huhuhu..."
Lea and Sydney were speechless, witnessing Nami's inflated self-confidence. Sydney felt a little regretful, as she was the one who made Nami believe she was loved by the professor. If it turns out to be wrong, then she's the one ultimately responsible for this.
"Lea, what should I do? She seems to really believe it. What if I'm wrong?"
"That's your business! I told you not to act without thinking. You really don't have a brain!"
"You're so mean! I'm really confused, Lea!"
"Come on, don't think too much about it! It's time for dinner, let's take her to the dining room!"
"You're right! Nami?"
"What?"
"I-it's time for dinner, let's go to the dining room together? I'll give you my share of dessert!"
"Really?" Nami's reaction immediately changed 180 degrees. Her previously gloomy face suddenly brightened upon hearing Sydney's offer of her share of dessert.
Lea and Sydney frowned, at least they already knew one thing: Nami was a quick-witted person who was easily swayed by food.
"Y-yeah, really!"
"Okay, what are you waiting for? Let's eat...!" Nami perked up again and, once again, pulled their hands with a very quick movement.
"N-Nami, slow down...!" Lea and Sydney struggled to keep up with her pace, but Nami was too excited to notice.
They moved at lightning speed through the corridors and dormitory halls, where cadets milled about and gathered. Nami's actions quickly made her the center of attention.
They began to suspect something was strange about her. Since morning, she had been constantly surprising with her unusual powers, and one of the most curious people was Jacob, the second son of King Evangelia.
They passed each other in the hall, and when Nami was right next to him, he immediately tried to stop her.
"Wait!" He said. He gave Nami a sneer that made almost everyone guess that the prince, renowned for his strength and talent, was starting to feel irritated by the presence of a newcomer at the academy.
"P-Prince Jacob?" Sydney said. It was a surprise to her that Prince Jacob had suddenly intercepted them.
Lea smiled sarcastically, she could easily guess the prince's annoyed reaction to Nami breaking his speed record today. All the cadets, even prospective cadets, must have already heard the rumors about him and his immense strength.
"Y-yes? Do I know you?" Nami asked hesitantly, as if unsure if she recognized the handsome and dashing young man standing before her.
"Hey Nami, do you really not remember him? He's His Highness Prince Jacob Konstantinides, the second son of King Albert Konstantinides," Sydney whispered, trying to explain.
"Second son?"
"Why do you only remember that part?" Lea blurted out. She was truly having a hard time understanding Nami's overly simplistic way of thinking.
"Oh, the one I beat this morning in training?" She said in a loud, clear voice, making everyone stare at her.
The four people who had always been behind the prince couldn't believe what they were hearing. They were shocked that someone would dare say something so arrogant in front of the great prince. Meanwhile, Prince Jacob tried to maintain his composure, even though his heart was filled with annoyance at Nami.
"Come on, you guys don't have to interfere. Hey, you, aren't you the weirdo who lifted my car with one hand just to retrieve your coin that rolled underneath?"
