Chapter 25 Goosebump
"You're right, agh... I don't understand at all."
They heard footsteps from the end of the corridor, heavy and ominous, as the silence grew. For some reason, their hearts pounded, as if the person passing by wasn't a pleasant person.
And sure enough, when they turned around, they saw George walking alone, about to pass them. George glared at them with a cruel, cold gaze, leaving them frozen, as if a hard, cold block of ice had gripped their bodies tightly.
They tried not to meet his gaze and ignored him until he left them. Their hopes were fulfilled; George had simply passed by and hadn't done anything to them. They rushed into their rooms, panicking as if they had just seen the devil.
"Oh my gosh, he nearly killed me just by looking into his eyes!"
"What's wrong with you two? Why are you so scared? Is something terrible happening?" asked Nami, still busy on her phone, constantly sending spam messages to Levi to get his attention.
"Nothing! What are you doing?"
"I'm sending Levi a message. I want to tell him that he doesn't need to be embarrassed to express his affection for me and that I'll pay more attention to him in the future."
Knowing his incomparably high self-confidence, Lea and Sydney were at a loss for words. They hadn't expected him to trust Sydney's words 100 percent and act without consideration.
"Syd, I don't want to be responsible if anything happens. You'll have to take care of it!"
"W-why me?" Sydney wanted to just let it go, even though she was the one who had tricked Nami into believing that Levi's indifference was due to embarrassment.
"I'm going to bed!"
"Hey Lea, don't be like that! You have to help me explain to Nami that I was just joking."
"I don't want to know, that's your business!" Lea said as she went into the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth.
"What's wrong with you two?" Nami asked, unsure of what was really going on with her two roommates.
"N-Nami, what messages did you write to Professor Levi? Can I see them?" Sydney asked hesitantly and nervously. Nami handed Sydney her phone and let her read the messages she had sent to Levi.
Sydney read the messages carefully. She was surprised to find that Nami had sent Levi many messages, and almost all of them had the same tone: asking Levi not to feel embarrassed because they had known each other for nine years and urging him to be more honest with his feelings so their relationship could be more beautiful, like a romantic drama.
Sydney, reading them, immediately shuddered, especially since Nami used too many emoticons, which made her messages seem overly dramatic.
"I really don't know what to do now? Nami, you really make me want to cry because I'm so goosebumps reading your message."
"Did I do something wrong?"
"You're still asking? Of course!" Sydney burst into tears. She never expected Nami to be so innocent and follow her every word.
Meanwhile, Levi, fresh from his shower, stepped out of the bathroom with only a towel wrapped around his waist. It had been a long, stressful, and tiring day as usual. He only slightly regretted not having time to exercise today.
Drrrrttt...drrtttt...
His phone vibrated; he had forgotten to turn the notification sound and ringtone back on. As soon as he reached for his phone, he was startled by dozens of incoming messages from Nami.
He felt uneasy. He tried to suppress the goosebumps and read the first message Nami had sent him 60 minutes ago.
"Levi, I didn't know you were so shy about showing your love and concern for me. You've been so attentive to me for years."
"Please don't be sad or disappointed by my attitude. Is it true that you've been crying in your sleep because I'm insensitive?"
"Please answer my question, Levi! Have I been hurting you all this time with my indifferent attitude that refuses to understand your feelings?"
"I'm sorry, I should have understood your intentions from the start, but I was insensitive. You've always been shy, and it's hard for you to get close to others because of your shyness."
"Therefore, please allow me to atone for my mistake by making a greater effort to approach and understand you."
Levi couldn't bear to read the next message. He knew Nami wasn't very smart, but he never thought she would go to such lengths to annoy him. To stop Nami's antics, Levi had to call her and give her an ultimatum.
"Hello Levi, have you read my message? So what do you think—"
"I'll ask Jean to come and get your phone back. It's been confiscated! I don't think you'll need it much while you're in the dorm, so it's better to confiscate it!"
"D-don't be like that, Levi! We can have the weekend, and I can call you if you're too embarrassed to call me first, so please don't—"
Tit...tit...
Levi ended the call, unable to bear listening to Nami any longer. He didn't know what was making Nami act so strangely. He began to suspect that perhaps someone was influencing Nami to act so unusually and ridiculously.
"Sometimes she's just unpredictable."
