Chapter 61 – Linked hearts
I am sure there must have been a time when I had nice dreams. Maybe when I lived in palaces and mansions but maybe not. That was all stress.
And then there was you. Did I dream when you were here? I was too focused on our daylight hours. I never wanted to sleep in those days and now here I am again…
Never wanting to sleep.
Not until I found you. Not until I live the good dream again.
Not until you are back…
I run in the direction my heart points. My heart beats hundred times per second as if it ran down a marathon. My mind races, eating all the brain cells. But right now everything is dull for me. I don’t care for anything except her.
“All of this for one puny mate?”
“Shut up alpha could hear you!”
“So what? I am not the only one who thinks like that.”
Can hear the voices of my people through the pack link. I can feel their anger, their frustration, their resentments. A smile plastered on my face on its own as a single tear rolled down my cheek.
“Where was this? This feeling of satisfaction of hearing your people complaining to you. about you. Without hesitation. Without fear. They never said anything to me directly. All I get from Asher, through Asher. There was like an invisible wall separating us.
We have come all the way long from there. It all thanks to you kitten. You are my light, my salvation. By all the grace, I will find you and I will never let you leave from my sight.
“Stop the chatters for later. It’s not about our alpha, not our Luna either. It’s about your damn pride. Now shut up and tear them off.” Asher barked orders. I chuckled.
I turned and sprinted to the direction my heart points to. And before I know I could smell her sweet scent. The familiar scent of roses and cardamoms. I walked past through the countless dead bodies of the wolves, unrecognizable to whom party they belong.
I opened the gate at the backyard. It was pointing to the underground, like it was a entrance of a small basement. My blood boils as the sweet smell soon entangled with the rotten smell of death. Rogue.
And the top of that I knew it was Michael. I could not forget this rotten stench of his. I could recognize it from the thousand miles.
I ran down the stairs. Not even bothering to look through the dark room. I know he was waiting for me. I also know she was down there. I know it was a trap. My instincts were screaming at me to look it through. To think it through again.
It was of no use. I already made up my mind and now there was no turning back.
Suddenly the lights turned on blinding me for a second. I swear I just closed my eyes for a second and before I know it there was a sharp stinging pain I started to feel at my back.
“Ahhh.” I flinched and turned to look at the man who stabbed me at the back. I know it was laced with wolfsbane.
Although I was no longer a wolf, still it is painful if not lethal for me. I hurriedly punched him in the head before clutching him by his neck.
“I said enough of your trickery Michael. If you can’t face me, you better should have remained dead years ago.” With that I started to crush his neck. He started to wriggle, to loosen my grip but to no avail.
I sighed and snapped his neck in one go. I don’t have time for pests.
I walked deeper in to the basement. Not waiting for him to answer. I know he was only playing tricks. After living with Ravenna can tell he would at least take a habit or two from her.
I checked my wound. Though it was not deep, the wolfbane in the blade was stopping my healing process. I threw the silver knife on the ground.
“Such petty tricks don’t suit on you.” I said and started walking again.
Having been alpha for so many these years. I understand one thing. Instead of trying to get someone to understand your opinions, it was far better to have that person fear and respect you.
After all power is what reigns over everything. Power is the ultimate answer to solve every question in this wretched world. I got it since I was a child. It was the only thing my father taught me.
This world is worthless. There is nothing here except pain and suffering. This world is rotten, after so many years of my existence was sure of one thing. This world don’t deserve people like Esma. Someone must do it.
Is there anybody out there to eliminate these vermin from the world? wrong question. why shouldn’t I? if I don’t do it then who will? That’s just it: there’s no one, but I can do it. in fact, I am the only one who can do it.
Even it costs me my life. The wolf inside me. I shall protect her at any cost. Because people like her are the one who are the final hope of this wretched world.
I tried my best not to drag her in my fight. In my battle. I am not a hero Emmy. For fuck sake, I was not the hero for a second. Nor I thought of becoming one. I just wanted this place to a little better for you to live in.
Did that too much to ask for? I shake my head. I don’t care. I will kill them. I will kill everyone who dare to stand against my goal.
I finally made it to the end of the basement and there he was.
The rogue king. Sitting on the chair, glaring me with the intent to kill.
