Chapter 52 - Michael

Long hair, strong smell of old shampoo, a lame beige cardigan across her neck, natural style and almost impossible to notice makeup. She truly was beautiful, almost perfect and perfectly evil.

I am not getting a good feeling about this. She reverted her gaze to my hands as I placed them on my lap cautiously. They were finally free but my legs were still tied. I can tell a lot is going in her mind at the same time too. Just like me.

I have hundreds, no at least thousand questions for her to answer and by the look in her eyes I can tell she feels the same. but why? What does she want?

I heard the footsteps chafing on the ground and my ears peeked up, is this her next move or something? She bought another hostage, or maybe she bought some interrogator or something.

Don’t let your guard down. I mugged mentally as a chaunted as a mantra and waited patiently.

My vulnerable eyes watched as a man dressed in shredded all black clothes entered the room through the metal rods gate. I didn’t have to look above his knees to see he was a wolf. his clothes were half torn, reeked of rotten corpses.

I crunched my nose in response. He wasn’t hunky or muscular as I had expected him to be. But then again what can I expect from the king of rogues. He lit no candle when against Reed or August.

I finally looked up to see the head above his shoulder. Last time our encounter was when he was holding Diaz with his claws. My blood boiled instantly. I never seen a rogue in human form before.

They were savages and usually got killed trying to intrude in our pack. I had my well share of killing rogues but still… by the black aura glowing from his back, no doubt he is the strongest rogue.

He was looking at me with a frown on his face, yet a triumphant look in his eyes I can’t ignore. It pisses me off. His face was not clear due to the poor lighting, the sun was already set and as far as I can tell there was no light.

“Why did you come Michael. I told you to wait until I finished.” Ravenna said surprisingly breaking our eye contacts by coming in between. Michael? I hadn’t heard that name before.

He stared at her face but didn’t said anything. Ravenna for some reason was in good mood and patted slapped his shoulder before scouting herself to the corner, beside me. ofcourse.

Michael huh? I deliberately wrinkled my nose in disgust in from of him. He looked older than me, probably in his early thirties. he had two huge scars on his face, one on forehead and one on the right cheek. the latter was even big enough to reach his neck.

The scars, aura and the rumors, these are the three factors when you met a wolf. at least this is how I judge when I encounters a wolf.

We werewolves unlike witches or any other super naturals are naturally blessed with our own weapons in form of poisonous claws and lethal bite marks. Even a scratch leaves a huge scar on the skin and could be lethal if not treated immediately.

From his scars, he was perhaps a man who fought a lot. In battles or maybe practice. I haven’t heard his name before but then all of us don’t bother to get the name of the rogue king. He was supposed to be dead. right?

He clenched his teeth hard in anger as he saw my expression. I heard Ravenna stifling as she tried not to laugh.

“Enough already with that brooding face of yours Michael. Leave us alone, will you?” Ravenna chimed way more excited than I thought to be and surprisingly enough he complied without any obligation.

Michael walked back like the way he came without looking back.

“I am impressed you have them wrapped under your fingers.” I commented loud enough to make sure he heard me. I heard the growl in answer and Ravenna started laughing loudly.

“You bet I do.” She said quietly after we heard the door locking outside. “Guess its just you and me again.” She walked gracefully to the other side of the room and light a candle, she danced again back to her previous position not breaking the eye contact for a single moment.

I don’t know what was going inside her head. why did she kidnap me on the first place? what was her motive or ulterior motive behind all this. She killed Derek.

“I didn’t killed him. how to put it? I just freed him.” her words were fresh as daisy in mind.

“What is it then? What should I think now? after so much fuss you have created to talk to me. You know you could just pass me a letter or something and I would have come cover. I am always up for a girl time.” I said way more sarcastically than I mean.

“Oh! You are so funny Esma you know that.” She started laughing loudly, her voice cracked in the empty room.

“I am glad I could humor you.” I contradicted. I narrowed my eyes as she closed the distance between us. She looked kinda intrigued for some reason and I bit my lip and tried to lie back as much as I could to move from her.

“Hmmm. I see…” she moved back and relaxed. “I can’t see what they saw into you.” she mumbled. If it was not for the empty room and my super hearing specialty it was impossible to hear what she said.

What? Wait what did she said? they? Who she refereeing to? I guess she meant the Moona? Or Reed?

“You… Are you some kind of Reed’s ex or something, still secretly obsessing over him after he dumped you?” I bit my lip trying not to smirk at my best remark so far.

It might be my imagination or maybe, maybe I struck the chord because I saw her eyes dimming on the mention of Reed. Or maybe I am just wishful thinking it all.

“Hmmm. I see…” I mimicked her to provoke her after she didn’t speak for a while. I definitely hit the nerve.

“Not feeling to talk about? You know for someone like me, who’s abducted from her peaceful lifestyle, forcefully I must add. This is dingy, awfully smelling dungeon can feel quite lonely.”

“Come on you really don’t want to talk or torture me after you pulled all the strings to brng me here?” I tried once again and this time the shell cracks.

“I don’t bring you here for torture, I mean Michael and I don’t see eye to eye on that part. I just want to free you.” she said as if thinking for the right word to say.

“Now you lost me.” I tried to wriggle my legs a little in hope to loosened the ropes.

“No chance you will able to cut through them, they are incanted by magic.” I almost jumped on her words realizing she was observant. Bet she is, who wouldn’t put their eyes on their hostage.

“You have two choices, either try to do anything stupid and die, or listen to my story, get your answers and peacefully die from this overwhelming world. You are not an alpha anymore, killing you is a piece of cake.” Damn, words hurt. What am I supposed to say now?

“Dear dear, here.” She wiped the sweat from my forehead which I didn’t realized until now. I know she know; the odds were already on her side. the light lost before, slowly getting back in her eyes.

I bit my lips. For the god of love, where are you Reed?
