Chapter 28

One week after the test we were back in the hospital, today for a completely different reason. Today was the day that the Parker family would find out the truth and it was a bittersweet day for them. This day was about to shape the foundation of the whole family and I felt sorry for them. Mrs Parker was the least bothered though and l know it's not because she doesn't care but because as my mother always said, 'mothers know these things' and I can see in her eyes that she knows, I could tell it for a while now and being here.

"no matter what the DNA test says I want you to know that the people that raised you are your parents, they will always be your parent but we want to be a part of your life if you let us. They shared your childhood now allow us to share your adulthood. "She helped my hands and I smiled at her. Who wouldn't want to be part of her life, she is a really kind and loving person to be around she's humble, beautiful ,selfless and she reminds me so much of my mother is in though they're not related or something but I guess that's what all mothers feel like ,there is loving a feeling that I get every time that she's near me.

"I would like that "l hugged her and she smelled like home. Before I met her I really had no interest in getting to know my biological parents ,yes I was curious about them but building a relationship with them was different ,I saw it as an insult to my parents and on their upbringing ,having to call somebody else my parents but now that I know her I can't wait to get to know her and build a relationship with her.

"your results are here "Dr Peters says entering in sitting on his chair. Ali breathes in harshly while her father places his hand on his forehead and Mrs Parker just closes her eyes for a second and I look at them all because I know what those results hold.

"Eliana Porter is your biological daughter Mr and Mrs Parker "he says looking at the paper in front of him and I hear sniffs coming from Ali. I know that she was hoping and wishing that maybe I wasn't her parents daughter or we weren't exchange at birth but you can't deny looks and heredity. I can't say I don't feel sorry for her though this has got to be the biggest shock of her life but I'm confident that it gets better because the parents that raised her are alive so they'll be here to support her unlike mine.

"And l still have Dr Porter's DNA in our system and l ran some tests with it and l can say with a doubt that he is Ms Parker's father "he added.

"you must be happy now, "she says standing up looking at me and l furrow my eyebrows "What "I ask her because I have completely no idea what she thinks I'm happy about." You have taken everything from me, first you took Killian then my mum and now you've taken my whole identity "she screamed at me and I looked at her flabbergasted. How can she be so self-centred ,this isn't just affecting her it affects me as well. "Can't you see that this affects me as well" l said to her.

"Everything is ruined" she sobbed as her father held and l tear fell down my cheeks. l wish my dad was here to hold me. l was just about to walk out and give them space when Mrs Parker pulled me into a hugged sobbing as well but her cries were different from Ali's. Her cries were of happiness and regret.

"l should've known" her said softly in my ears but l shook my head. "None of you knew and it's okay because we can still start over" l reassured her and l really meant it. l was looking forward to building a relationship with her.

Ali was inconsolable so Mrs Parker had to join Mr Parker as they held her and l smiled. Ali would get through this because she had support. l closed the door behind me and walked through the hospital. l missed coming here with my parents. Dad wanted me to be a doctor so he thought bringing me to the hospital would make me like it but l hate the sight of wounds and blood.

'she must take after your mother' dad would tease my mom but now l understand why l medicine has never appealed to me.

"Nostalgic are we" l turned to see five doctors who l knew really well. They were my parents colleagues and close friends. l have known them for as long as l can remember and l smiled seeing all of them. l embraced each and every one of them.

"So what kind of owner doesn't check up on her employees and all" Dr Noah asked playfully and l laughed. l know that they are running things smoothly in my absence and they wouldn't do anything to jeopardize this hospital.

"Well l am coming to check on you guys so better get your affairs in order before l fire someone "l point a finger at all of them.

"Can we talk "Dr Peters said holding me by my shoulders as he pulled me away from the group.

"What do we have to talk about "l said sitting behind his desk. "It's about the DNA test" he said and l furrowed my eyebrows. "l thought we were done with that " l mean l don't understand what we have to talk about.

"The results were inconclusive "he said but l just looked at him. "The results show that Mr Parker is 98% related to you which means that you are related but he could possibly not be your father."
