Chapter 16

There was an ache in my heart. The pain was choking my breath away and it was impossible to control. Anger burned through my whole body like lava. l watched all the members of our family grieve, we all loved Connor. l watched my father fall apart, you could see the anguish in his eyes. My father had lost a son today and not just any son, a son whom he loved truly ,a son he loved more than his flesh and blood. l wanted to be bitter but l couldn't.

"l will find the people who did this "l held my father's shoulder as l swore. The police suspected a robbery but there was more to this. This was far more brutal than l robbery. My eyes closed as all of the memories l had with Connor flashed through my eyes. l saw his eyes ,his smile and laugh.

My dad hugged me and when he did a sudden surge of anger coursed through me. Whoever did this had asked for help from some important people. There is no way that a simple person did this and fled. Whoever had done this will not get away with it. Connor was more of my brother than my cousin. l truly loved my brother but now he was gone. Someone had snatched him away from me, from us.

My phone rang and my chain of thoughts broke. "Hey have you heard from Eliana today " Aria ,Ells best friend asked and l cursed. l forgot to check on her today and l needed her support the most. She already meant a lot to me in a couple of days.

"No, why" l said my voice horse. "Your friends happened ,anyway let me try finding her because both her and her roommate aren't here"she said before hanging up. l wonder what Jace and Xander were up to, l know they probably bothered Ellis because they want me to get back with Ali.

Damn it l forgot to inform them. We grew up together and l know they are going to be as hurt as l am especially Ali because she and Connor were extremely close. She loved him like a brother and vice versa.

Ali

l trembled when l saw who was calling me, Killian had made no effort to call me or talk to me these past few days so him calling today was no coincidence. He probably knows the truth. It's better that l confess before he finds out himself l thought to myself as l picked up.

"i-it w-wasn't my fault, l p-promise l- l- l didn't do it intentionally "l rushed out before he could say anything.

"l know you did it Ali and l am not surprised considering how selfish you are" he growled over the phone and l jumped back like he was near me. "No no no please no" l sniffed. Killian was going to make sure that l go to jail. "Oh get over yourself l'm calling for a completely different reason "he said. "What" l asked surprised, how could he call for a different reason than to tell me that the police were on their way to arrest us.

"Connor passed away "he said in a tone that displayed the way he was heartbroken but l was confused. "Huh"

"l know you cared deeply about him that's why l wanted you to know "he sighed sadly.

"Ohh"

"Really Ali, that's all you're going to say, l should have never bothered "he hung up.

Oh my God he was probably talking about what l did to Eliana and l almost confessed. What's wrong with me. l wasn't just going to ruin my life but Eliana's as well. My heart sank for her. The shower had been running for three hours now but she refused to come out. l had stopped trying to get her out.

l felt the same way she must feel when Connor first rapped me but now l was used to it. l would have never escaped from his clutches if Eliana hadn't had the courage to come in like she did. She helped me regain my strength to fight but in the process we ended up killing a man.

l had a newfound respect for her. She stood up for me in a fight she had zero chance at winning and it made her special in my eyes. l will make sure that even if the truth comes out, l should get all the punishment.

Something about her was bothering me though. She looks like a female version of my father and brother. There is no way people can have such an uncanny resemblance while they l not related and my dad wouldn't cheat on my mom. Whatever it is though, l had to find out.
