Chapter 30 — Party

Sophia's POV:

The party wasn't exactly what I had expected. I expected people with red cups and music and dancing. Instead, some people were in wolf form and others in human form, dancing.

Everyone was sniffing everyone. There was some booze, but wolves were drinking directly from the bottles. A few wolves were fighting with each other.

Suddenly, the music started. It was just music, no words. I was not good at explaining what type of music this was, but the dancing became more common. The wolves all looked up and howled. I'd want to say it was like howling to the moon, but it was still too early for the moon to come out. Maybe they were howling to the sun.

Niti took my hand and started dancing with me. Everyone was dancing now. You'd think being in the middle of the forest would give us some space, but instead, we were all rubbing against each other.

Some wolves would bump into me, take a deep breath, bow their heads, and move on. My main dance partner was Niti. It was fun. I loved the dancing. I also got into the howling rhythm. Every now and then, they'd howl, even the ones in human form.

"Awooo," I howled with them, giggling.

"You enjoying your time, Luna?" someone asked, and I just nodded, still happy to dance and howl with everyone else. "Can I have this dance, then?" the guy asked, pulling me closer to him.

"No, thank you," I said, pushing him away from me. He tried to pull me in again, and I pushed him as hard as I could. He turned into his wolf form and growled at me. I growled back at him. That was when he went into his wolf form.

To that, I had no reply. He wasn't as big or scary as Daddy or Alvin, but he still scared me. He kept growling and looking me straight in the eyes. I didn't know what he expected me to do. I felt like a deer stuck in headlights, scared of him and frozen.

He kept growling, but I stood there, not understanding. We must have stayed like that for a long time since most people were now looking at us. What was happening? Finally, after this long staring contest, the other guy bowed his head, turned on his heels, and ran away toward the woods.

Everyone was quiet until they all broke out into howls and cheers. They were all congratulating me, but on what?

"What happened?" I asked Niti.

"You butchered his ego, Luna," she said, giving me a high-five.

"I did?" I asked. No one dared to even get close to me now.

"Yes, you just forced your dominance on him," she said.

"What?" Was she for real?

"The best part is that you don't even know you did! He tried to make you submit, but you just stood there. The more dominant one wins," she said.

"But I thought I'm a submissive," I whispered to Niti. I was a Little, meaning I was a submissive. I knew that much.

"But you're also a Luna. You only submit to your mate. Being bonded to Alpha Victor gives you some of the Alpha aura." Well, that was something for sure.

I'm so cool, I thought to myself before going back to the dancing and howling. I didn't notice that we'd been here for long time. I only knew I'd messed up with the time when Daddy called me again through our bond.

"Sophia, I'm home. Where are you?" he asked, and I panicked. We should go back home now. We couldn't stay here and get busted.

I tried to find Niti, but she was not next to me anymore. She was lost somewhere among the grees. I went on a messy searching trip and was not able to find her.

"Niti!" I called loudly, but there was no answer. The music was getting louder now. The howling wasn't fun anymore; it was scary. I was ready to go home. But Niti was my guide home. I didn't know how to leave alone.

"You okay, Luna?" a random guy asked me. I didn't know who that was, so I just nodded yes, saying I was okay before going back to search for my friend.

I finally found Niti, and I held her hand and told her I wanted to go home now. Daddy must be worried about me now. He was yelling in my head, asking where I was. The music stopped all of a sudden.

Loud howls could be heard, but they weren't the howls we'd been doing this whole time. These were different; these sounded louder, meaner.

What had I gotten myself into…?
