Author’s POV
He couldn’t express in words how happy he was. He was watching the time every second since last night she had called him and asked him to come meet her since till now the time was not less than a century for him. If he had not controlled himself, he would have reached her house last night.
"I don't want to eat anything. I have to talk something important with you" she said in an emotionless voice but emotions were surging inside her as after what she was going to say everything will change between them.
Hearing her voice, Karan's smile flattered for a moment but he quickly covered it up.
"Yes Mahi, I know you have something important to talk about, but first let's order something because I didn't even have breakfast in the excitement of meeting you and now it's lunch time, so I'll order something..... ...” she cut him rudely as it's already hard enough for her and he's making it more difficult “I said I don’t want to eat anything. I have not come here to have lunch with you but to tell you my decision so please can we concentrate on that??”
He was shocked to hear her rude voice and the smile that was on his lips didn’t take even a second to disappear and didn't know why but his heart started behaving strangely as if it had felt something not good.
"Ok ok don't get angry, tell me what you want to talk" he said to her in a calm voice keeping his hand on her hand which was on the table but she pulled her hand back which made him feel very bad but he chose to keep quiet fisting his hand into a fist.
When she saw the pain and fear in his eyes, she shut her eyes because seeing him like this, she felt as if someone had held her heart tightly and was slowly painfully squeezing it, but sadly neither she could do anything to ease his pain nor her own pain. She had thought about them a lot over the past weeks, but the only thing she concluded that they're not made for each other. She opened her eyes and looked at her who was looking at her with hurt.
"Look Karan, I know what I am about to say might break you but I can't help it because I am not as strong as I seem but I am weaker than Aashi. Forgive me but me and you can never be us I know whatever I am saying will hurt you a lot but please try to understand my point that we are not right for each other because I do not have the courage to move forward with you forgetting that my father is the murderer of your parents. I am tired of showing everyone that I am very strong but I am not strong. Our papa was our idol, our superhero, everything and we never thought that he could do something like this. This is too much for me, it is hurting me a lot. I want to forget all this. I want to forget that my father is not a superhero but a murderer which will not be possible for me if I stay with you. Your presence will make me realize every moment that who is my father whom I want to forget. Please forgive me, we can never be together." When Mahi finished talking, she couldn’t control her tears because it was not easy for her too.
These two weeks were enough for her to realize that she was in love with Karan but they were not made for each other. Only she knew how she said these words.
She looked at Karan with teary eyes who was completely numb and was looking at her with an emotionless face as if he had not heard anything.
She knew that she hurt him a lot but what could she do as she couldn’t give him what they both wanted.
She wiped away her tears harshly.
She couldn't stay here for a second longer so she got up from the chair but as she turned to leave, he came out of the shock and without giving her a second, he pulled her harshly closer to him by grabbing her arm.
Her breath got caught in her throat when she saw him whose eyes were burning with anger and his face was hard with clenched jaws and the intensity in his eyes was scaring her. his demeanour changed into authoritative and powerful. He looked dangerous at this moment.
She gulped down in fear as she had never seen him like this till date, she felt that he was someone else and not Karan.
"What the hell are you talking about?? Do you even know what fucking you are saying??" his voice was not soft and calm but intimidated and cold. He looked just like Vishant.
She trembled under his gaze and started wriggling his hold and looked around to see that everyone was looking at them.
"Karan leave me, everyone is watching." She tried to make him aware of their surroundings.
"It doesn't matter to me whether everyone is watching or not, what matters to me is what you said to me a few seconds ago." He shouted angrily as his pain was coming out in the form of anger and most of all angry at her reason because if she told him that she didn't love him that's why they could not be together, he never went after her because her happiness was his happiness but what she was doing will hurt both of them. he couldn’t see her in pain at any cost.
He held her jaws firmly with the other hand but not so tight that it hurt her but so tight that she couldn’t turn her face from him.
"Mahi just tell me do you love me or not??" He asked her with intensity and his eyes were warning her that if she even thought of telling a lie.
She closed her mouth as she didn’t want to answer his question but this made him very angry and he shouted losing his temper "answer me dammit".
She flinched hearing his loud voice and she automatically uttered the words that he wanted to hear "Yes, I love you".
Her eyes widened when she realised what she did and cursed herself why she told him that she loved him when she had come here to end everything and not to give him any hope.
He smiled whole heartily hearing her confession and pressed his lips softly on her forehead which made her opened her eyes and saw there was no anger in his eyes and soft smile playing on his lips.
"It's enough for me to know that you love me and everything else doesn't matter to me. I know it's not easy for you to deal with this and I'm willing to give you as much time as you need but let me tell you one thing, you can take as much time as you want to reach me, but don’t forget that I am your destination, as you are my only wish, for which I can go to any extent, and after knowing that I will not back down at all that you love me too. I will wait for the moment when you are ready to become Mrs Mahi Karan Sharma Raisingh Khurana." he said with strong determination and his eyes were telling how sincere he was but there was something else in his eyes which Mahi was unable to recognize but which was making her tremble with fear.
“We are both impossible” she murmured under her breath but fear was clearly visible in her eyes.
He smiled listening to her and told her "So let me make it possible".
