Oliv had thought that Lexton would lead them to the base.

That was because they now had someone to deal with, who had joined them in the car with two hands cuffed and a cloth wrapped around his mouth.

The shot Lexton had fired earlier had paralyzed the man's leg, leaving him limping and struggling to walk even though it wouldn't have put his life in danger.

Observing where the bullet had lodged, Oliv concluded that Lexton had intentionally only paralyzed the man. There was no intention of harming him, or even taking his life.

"The Alpha is turning into the apartment," John said in a voice that filled the entire car, apparently as confused as Oliv.

"Follow it," Oliv replied. "Master probably doesn't want to take Aurora to the base, because it's uncomfortable there."

John nodded his head vaguely, helping to turn the car he was driving to enter the basement parking lot of Lexton's apartment.

The leader stopped in one of the parking slots, at which point John parked his car not far from Lexton's car.

Getting out and immediately holding Aurora, Lexton briefly glanced at Oliv and John who were now standing in front of him.

"Wait in your room," Lexton ordered firmly. "And have two people stand guard in front of my apartment."

Oliv nodded first, as Lexton swung back into motion and led Aurora with him.

The man turned towards the elevator, while his men were back there taking care of the man who still seemed to be struggling.

The metal box took Lexton and Aurora to the floor where the man's apartment was located, and Lexton wasted no time in taking Aurora straight into his unit.

The sound of the door closing rang out loudly, as Lexton sped into the apartment.

"Stay here, Aurora," Lexton said in a very gentle tone. "I have to take care of something. Get some rest, and don't go anywhere until I get back. Do you understand?"

Their handshake had yet to break, when Lexton realized Aurora was squeezing his hand in a slow motion.

Her hazel eyes looked deeply at Lexton, before she opened her lips to make a sound.

"Are you going to scold Oliv?" she asked suddenly.

Lexton took a two-second pause, looking at the look on Aurora's face. She looked a little worried, with eyes that were still as yearning as his.

"No, my dear," Lexton replied. Taking two steps forward, the Alpha brought himself closer to Aurora.

"There's nothing to be angry about in this," Lexton said, trying to calm her down. "Oliv may be at fault for what happened earlier, but believe me I'm not the type of person to blame others. You have nothing to worry about, and just have fun inside until I get back. Okay?"

Aurora knew Lexton was trying to make her feel calm. But a flash of the image the woman had was instantly present, making her shudder as she imagined what Lexton would do to the man who missed the shot.

Would the Alpha torture him?

Would the Alpha hold him until he died?

Or would the Alpha kill her outright with his own hands?

Aurora's mind was still digging, but now Lexton had returned to his voice.

"I have to go, Aurora. The sooner I find out, the sooner I can clear things up."

The look in Aurora's eyes had not faded, and she did not even seem to want to let go of his hand with the Alpha.

"You said I could ask for something if I wanted it, right?" she said now, looking expectantly at Lexton.

Lexton seemed to clear his throat softly, drawing in enough air to fill his chest cavity.

"You want something now?"

Aurora nodded her head in a slow motion. The woman had her doubts, but she had decided she would reveal what she wanted.

"Promise not to kill anyone," Aurora whispered once. Her heart raced as she continued her sentence. "You said I shouldn't interfere with the world you built, but I just want to ask for this one thing."

Lexton pursed his lips tightly, trying to judge what Aurora was thinking from the expression on the woman's face.

Lexton had never lived under someone else's control, and he had never been dictated to by anyone.

And Aurora's request this time sounded very hard to grant, even though he had promised to give her everything she wanted.

Tightening their grip, Lexton lifted Aurora's hand to give her a peck on the back.

"Don't worry," Lexton replied softly. "I know how to control my world, and you don't have to think about things you shouldn't."

Aurora swallowed hard, realizing that her request might be difficult for the Alpha to grant.

After all, Aurora was trying to control Lexton's actions, and that was not easy to do.

Aurora was at a loss for words, as she could now only look down with slowly drawn breaths.

"Trust me," Lexton said again. "Although I am the controller, my justice is never in doubt."

Just as Aurora raised her head again, Lexton moved herself forward to place a peck on her forehead.

Successfully leaving Aurora dumbfounded, unable to do anything as Lexton had already released their handshake.

Without saying a word, the Alpha turned around with a single stomp, now stepping forward to grab the door handle ahead.

Leaving Aurora standing perfectly still, eyes blinking until her lover disappeared behind the door.

The Alpha was truly gone, and Aurora had no idea what would happen.

Lexton gritted his teeth impatiently.

"What did you say?!" The man half shouted. "Repeat!"

Rattling his waist right in front of the amateur gunman, Lexton glared with sharp, hateful eyes.

The man with a gunshot wound to the thigh collapsed on the floor, occasionally groaning from the pain that paralyzed his leg.

Several blows had already landed on the man's face, causing bruises on his cheeks and fresh blood that seemed to flow from the corners of his lips.

"Jo-van-ka," the man limped. It was obvious he was enduring the pain that shot through his body.

Lexton grinned. The sound of his sigh could even be heard throughout the room occupied by Oliv and Abi, as the two best retainers were now standing right behind the fallen man.

"Did you just say Jovanka's name?!" Lexton shouted again.

Taking two steps forward, he landed a kick to the man's stomach.

He groaned, but the amateur shooter had no choice but to open his voice. In his heart, he regretted it, because if he had known his target was a great leader like this, he would have refused the job offer that came his way a few days ago.

The wounded man winced, but he knew he had at least one chance to beg for forgiveness.

"Forgive me, sir," he said pleadingly. "That woman only told me to hurt your lover a little, without intending to shoot her."

Lexton landed another kick in the same spot, and began to be overcome with rage. His heart was racing rapidly, and he was now breathing with a ragged rush.

The word 'Jovanka' in the air had successfully ignited his emotions, with anger beginning to take over him.

Turning his back to the three men in front of him, Lexton even managed to close his eyes with his hands clenched into tight fists.

"Where is Jovanka now?"

There was silence for a few seconds, until Oliv's voice rang out in the background.

"From the call that came in earlier, John traced the phone signal to Arupadhi Tower, 34th floor, sir."

Turning around with a decisive stomp, Lexton let his jaw set perfectly.

"Get him out of here!" he commanded with a head nod to Abi.

The man's eyes were sharp, and now Lexton had moved to turn to Oliv.

"And you Oliver, don't you have something to explain?"
