Chapter 9

Aubrey:

Honestly, I didn't know what was happening to me. My mind constantly said Mike. But my heart sang a different song when Alexis was around. I could literally feel myself wanting her.

Once dinner was ready, I helped my mother set the table and waited for everyone to join us. Truthfully, I was dying to see Alexis. I just didn't know what to say to her.

Well, what was I supposed to say? I enjoyed last night but we can't be together because I have a boyfriend? No. It just wouldn't be right. Or fair to her.

Minutes later, Alexis and Hank came downstairs to the dining room. I watched Alexis stroll to the other side of the table and take a seat. We accidentally made eye contact and locked eyes on each other but still said nothing.

I noticed that Alexis had changed out of her sweatsuit and now only wore basketball shorts with a sports bra. Her hair was in wet curls down her back. She must have taken a shower.

"So, Aubrey. How are you liking the school?" Hank questioned me as he passed around the brown rice. Him and my mother had cooked brown rice and grilled steak for dinner with just a small spoonful of steamed vegetables. "It's going well. I like it a lot." I responded.

"Good. I can remember back to Alexis's first year. For about half her freshman year, she couldn't stand it. It wasn't until she met her friends that I could actually get her to consistently go to school." Hank laughed. I grinned a little and went back to my food.

"Do you have any classes with Alexis? I've been meaning to ask you this but it always slips my mind." Hank said, bringing my attention back to him. "Just one. Gym. But it doesn't start for another week and a half." I answered him. Hank nodded and went back to talking to my mother.

My mom and Hank brought the food back to the kitchen and left Alexis and I in the kitchen to put away the left overs and wash the dishes. Perfect.

We worked in silence. It stayed like that until that sound of my phone ringing filled the quiet kitchen. It was Mike.

"Hello?" I spoke into my phone. "Hey baby. What are you doing?" He questioned me. "Nothing, I'm washing dishes. I'll call you later on tonight, okay?" I replied. "Okay. I love you." Mike said sweetly. "You too." I said quickly, hanging up.

Yes, I was still with Mike. When he called this morning, he explained everything. Saying he felt detached from me and needed someone or something to fall back on if we ever broke up. I understood him.

"Wow." I heard Alexis mumble. She finished putting away the last of the food and walked out of the kitchen. Great.

After finishing up my homework, I took a quick shower and threw on a tank top with a pair of shorts. My intentions were to call Mike back but suddenly, they had changed.

I laid in bed watching cartoons. Immediately I thought of Alexis and how she was watching adventure time last night. Looking at the time on my phone, it was only ten.

Not wanting to just leave her in my thoughts, I got out of bed and made my way to her room through our bathroom doors. Of course, she was up and instead of cartoons this time, she was watching Love and Basketball. One of my favorite movies.

I cleared my throat and spoke. "Can I come in?" Alexis turned around, surprised.

"Well your already here, aren't you?" she asked sarcastically.

"I deserved that," I scoffed, walking over to her bed and sliding in next to her.

I used my arms to gently pull her into me and wrapped them around her. "I'm sorry," I whispered and kissed the back of her neck. Alexis sighed and turned around so that we were face to face.

"What are you doing to me?" She laughed.

"I should be the one asking you that." I responded.

"Why didn't you talk to me?" Alexis questioned me.

"I didn't know what to say. I've never felt this way about a girl. You got me questioning my entire life."

As soon as I said those words, Alexis burst into laughter. "Seriously?" She asked in between giggles.

"Stop. It's not funny, Alexis," I huffed, attempting to get out of bed.

"Don't leave. I'm sorry for laughing," she said seriously, pulling me back to her. We spent the next few hours talking and eventually drifted off to sleep.

This time, I got ready for school and went back to Alexis's room. I dressed myself in a ripped blue jean mini skirt, a sky blue tank top, white converses, and a grey light cardigan. My hair was straightened with side bangs.

I sat on Alexis's bed, texting Mike as I waited for her to wake up. It was almost eight and I knew we were definitely going to be late.

Fifteen minutes later, she slowly fluttered her eyes open and smiled at the sight of me. "Good morning." I grinned, leaning in to kiss her forehead. "Really? My forehead? No lips?" She pouted. "When you brush your teeth I will." I laughed and moved over so she could go get ready.

Thirty minutes later, she came out of the bathroom fully dressed. She had on black joggers, a white and navy muscle tank, and Gamma Blues. I watched her slide on a white polo hat and apply Blistex to her lips.

Alexis looked at me and began rubbing her hands together slowly. "What are you doing?" I questioned, backing up onto the bed as she inched closer towards me.

"I just want a kiss," she said simply. But that was far less than what she gave me. Alexis attacked me with her lips. She kissed my nose, cheeks, forehead, chest, stomach, and any place she could visibly see.

What about Mike?
