Chapter 19

Aubrey:

My heart was racing. I had never been really good at expressing my feelings for anything, let alone anyone. But I really did love Alexis and wanted us to work out. With our parents leaving, we would have spent the whole week in each other's beds, sleeping in, going on romantic beach visits, and showering together.

Clearly, that wasn't going to happen. With everything that had gone on, I wasn't even too sure if I really wanted to be with her. Before we started a relationship, we did pretty good as soon to be siblings. Hanging with her friends and going to the mall, that wasn't so bad.

But then I just had to go into her room that night. I mentally smacked myself. How in the world did I allow myself to get involved with a girl? I came from a strict catholic upbringing and here I was... sinning. My old religion teacher would have been disgusted.

Shaking away the thoughts that clouded my brain, I looked up at Alexis and sighed. Throughout our "situationship," I wasn't thinking straight. We were about to become step sisters, for crying out loud. What the hell had gotten into me? Was it really love? Or was it just lust? But lusting after a girl? This was new. Was I straight? I had given myself to Mike. Was I lesbian? I'd also given myself to Alexis. Or was I just whore?

I'm confused. As hell.

I'd never felt this way about a female. Let alone anyone. I really did feel for Alexis. Literally. Mentally, physically, emotionally, etc. Maybe this really was love.

With everything that had gone down, I wasn't too sure is this thing was going to work out with Alexis.

After a good seven minutes of silence, I'd decided to speak up. "Alexis, we've been through too much in such a short amount of time. We didn't set boundaries, expectations, or some sort of concrete plan about this. I just don't know where we should go from here." I told her. Alexis nodded her head in understanding.

"You're absolutely right. I should have made things more clear. But there was no way I could plan falling for you—" I cut her off. If Alexis was going to honest with me about her feelings, she deserved to know about Mike. "Before you say anything else, I need to tell you what happened with Mike. After the party..." I trailed off.

Alexis squinted her eyes and gave me a serious look. "Okay. Talk." She stated. "When we got back to the house, I was a little tipsy and I wanted to be touched... I had sex with Mike." I quickly blurted out.

Alexis dropped her jaw. "Are you freaking kidding me, Aubrey!" she yelled. "I'm sorry! Okay?! You were mad and wouldn't even look at me. And it was quick anyway. I didn't feel anything for him during or after. It was quite painful actually." I tried to say.

Alexis threw her hands up. "That's not the point. We stop talking for a few days, and you go opening your legs for some guy? You've got to be kidding me," she muttered.

"It wasn't some guy. It was a boy I'd been dating for two years. And then you come around and it all changes. It meant nothing, Alexis. He's nothing. You have to believe me."

Alexis looked up at me and rolled her eyes. "I can't believe we're going through this. Look, I apologize for everything. I overreacted and treated you shitty. I am sorry." She replied. "I apologize too. For everything. I should have told you about him and everything else."

Alexis pulled me into her chest and wrapped her arms around me. "Let's go somewhere. Forget the dinner. I want to take you out." She let go of me and looked me into my eyes. "Really? Are you sure?" I questioned her. "Yes. Go get ready. Put on something fancy." She told me, giggling.

This was very surprising. Alexis and I had never been on a real date. We'd only hang out at school, with her friends, or when we were with the family. This was exciting.

I ran up to my bedroom and immediately began rummaging through my closet. The last time I got all dolled up, it was for the party I went to with Mike. But, if I was going out on a real date with Alexis, I wanted to look banging.

After showering, I laid my outfit out on the table. I decided on a short, baby pink bodycon dress, white chunky heels, and a white fur jacket. I flat ironed my hair with a sleek part down the middle. There was some makeup on my face too, just foundation, brows, a nice contour, and nude lipstick.

When I met Alexis downstairs, I couldn't believe my eyes. She was wearing a dress too. Her dress was all black, knee length, with an open back. She wore black stilettos and her hair was up in a neat bun. "Don't get used to this. The restaurant has a very strict dress code. They don't usually allow tomboys in there." She stated, firmly.

As I walked closer to her, I noticed that she was even wearing makeup. Nothing heavy. Mostly mascara and a red lipstick. "Wow. You look..." I trailed off, letting my eyes roam around her body.

"Like a girl?" she joked, laughing a little.

"I was going to say beautiful," I admitted.

I inched my face closer to hers to try to get a kiss, but she turned her head. "Not now. I don't want you to ruin my lipstick," she warned, seriously.
