Chapter Twenty Two

“Ah, shit!” I exclaim as I wake up with a pounding headache. I rolled over on the bed and looked around the room, only to realize I was in Uno’s room. I slowly got up and tied my hair neatly because it was all over my face. I’m not sure what happened; did I pass out?

I looked around the room again and noticed Uno was nowhere to be seen, so I got out of bed and went outside to look for him, but I couldn’t even see his shadow.

“Where did he go?” I asked myself before going outside, but when I opened the door, I flinched as I saw so many men in suits outside. They all turned to face me almost synchronously, so I forced a smile.

“H-hello,” I greeted awkwardly, it’s already evening. “Do you happen to know where Uno is?”

“He returned to the office because there was an emergency; are you hungry or in need? Boss told us to obey any orders you gave us.” said the man near the door, who, if I recall correctly, was with Siegren the first time they picked me up from school.

“Is that so? Thank you; I’ll just let you know when I need something.” I smiled slightly before slowly closing the door. After that, I sat on the couch and switched on the television to watch a movie while waiting for Uno to come back.

Earlier, he told me something that I still remember. I can’t remember everything that happened, but I will never forget what he said about helping me kill the one who made me cry. To be honest? I was surprised when he asked me that question because I knew full well that he wasn’t joking. I had no idea what was going through his head at the time he said that.

Is he genuinely concerned about me? I can’t tell for sure, but from the way he talks and the way he’s been acting, it seems like he is. I’m starting to overthink things more than I need to. What if he actually likes me and treats me accordingly? What if he falls in love with me already?

I laughed when I found the thought ridiculous and shook my head before leaning back on the couch.

“As if,” I muttered to myself, grinning. “Who am I kidding?”

“Are you so bored that you’re talking to yourself?” I lifted my head when I saw Uno standing behind me. I did not realize that he had arrived. “Have you sobered?”

“I think so?” I answered before properly sitting down after he came over and sat next to me. He leaned back on the couch and loosened his tie, clearly exhausted and stressed.

“What happened?” I asked, and he turned to face me.

“Nothing,” he replied sparingly. “Are you getting hungry already?”

“A little, have you had dinner yet? Let’s eat together.” I said before taking my phone from my pocket, but it wasn’t there. Uno raised two eyebrows at me when I looked at him.

“Why?”

“Where’s my phone?”

“Didn’t you see it on the bedside table?” he asked as he stood up, and I followed him with my gaze, “Oh right, your friend Reo called.”

I got up after he said that and followed him when I noticed he was going upstairs. My head is still throbbing.

“Fuck, I hate this feeling,” I muttered. “Do you have any headache medicine? I can’t stand this pain.”

“That’s what happens when you drink too much with an empty stomach. Are you stupid? I can’t believe you drank beer and passed out in broad daylight.” He looked disdainfully at me, obviously mocking my foolishness.

Somehow, I noticed a resemblance between him and his twin Dos because he sounded like he was reprimanding a child.

“Right, sorry. You need to babysit me again,” I remarked sarcastically, recalling what he said to me when I got drunk after attending his brother’s engagement party.

“Are you making fun of me now?” He asked me seriously but I shrugged my shoulders. When we entered his room, I went straight to the bedside table and picked up my phone to see that I received five missed calls from Reo. I decided to call him and I couldn’t help but worry when the phone just rang. I looked at Uno for a moment and saw him getting dressed.

“What’s wro—” he couldn’t continue asking me when Reo finally answered the phone and I turned around.

“Why did you call? I’m sorry, I fell asleep; did something happen?”

“Reo?” I called him because he isn't responding.

**“Where are you? Are you busy? Can we meet?”** he asked, his voice trembling.

“Right now? Of course, where?”

**“I’m in the park near the university right now,”** I nod, looking at the digital clock on Uno’s bedside table; it’s still early, so there’s nothing wrong with me going out.

“OK, I’m on my way there,” I said before hanging up the phone. I faced Uno, who had finished getting dressed, as soon as I hid the phone in my pocket.

“Where are you going? I thought you had a headache?”

“Yeah, but I need to see Reo.”

“Why?” He questioned wearily.

“I’m not sure why he wants to meet, so I’ll go to him to find out.” I began walking, but was surprised when Uno joined me; I paused for a moment and turned to face him again, puzzled as to why he was following me.

“What’s your deal?”

“I’ll go with you,” he answered as if there was nothing wrong with what he said.

“What? Why? I can go there by myself,” I grumbled. “Now, where is my car? Tell me you didn’t leave it at the overlooking.”

“Do you expect me to drive your car? You are aware that I do not drive an automatic.” He shrugged, and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. I hate that I can’t be mad with him because it was my fault that I passed out in the first place.

“You can simply direct one of your men to drive for me; you’re tired from work, just rest.”

“No, I also need to speak with your friend,” he muttered which made me frown. I know that he’d seen Reo before, but they’d never spoken.

“Why? What do you need from him?”

“I have a question about his father,” he said, and I didn’t bother asking anymore. I just let him accompany me because arguing wastes my time.

“Do you like to go through the drive-thru?” Uno asked when we saw a fast-food restaurant.

“Sure,” I replied sparingly because I was already hungry and the university was a bit far from Uno’s house, so I had plenty of time to eat.

“Here, take a bite,” I said as I placed the burger in front of Uno’s mouth. I raised an eyebrow when he looked at me. “What? You don’t like it because I’ve already bitten it?”

“No,” mumbled before taking a bite and concentrating on driving. “Don’t mind me and just eat, I’m not hungry yet—”

Uno’s car filled with silence after his stomach growled. I bit my lip and tried to suppress a laugh but I didn’t succeed.

“Yeah right, who’s not hungry?” I chuckled.

“Shut up,” he grumbled, clearly embarrassed. I just smiled and fed him from time to time because the food I ordered was enough for two people. Fortunately, there was no traffic, so we arrived at the park quickly, with no one around except for Reo, who was sitting on one of the swings in the playground.

“Just stay here in the car for now; just get off when I'm done talking to Reo,” I said to Uno as I unbuckled my seatbelt. He only nodded in response while grabbing a pack of cigarettes and opening his car window.

“W-what happened?” I asked, surprised because Reo was usually calm. I wasn’t expecting him to hug me as soon as I approached him.

“He’s getting married,” he murmured, “Andrei’s marrying my sister.”

“W-what?” I asked in disbelief. Andrei is Reo’s ex fuck buddy, the very reason why he is afraid to love again.

“Are you sure? How come? I mean isn’t your sister single?”

“They’ve been dating secretly for almost two years,” Reo’s hug tightened, and I gradually realized what was going on.

That means Andrei had a relationship with Reo’s sister months after they ended their fuck buddy’s relationship. That’s completely messed up. I mean, complicated.

“Did Andrei know that he will marry your sister?” I asked as I gently rub his back.

“No, not yet. I just found out that he is my sister’s boyfriend when Rhea showed me a picture of them.”

“Shit,” I cursed, not knowing what to do in Reo’s situation. Although our situations are similar, dealing with his problem is more difficult because he and his sister’s fiance were fuck buddies before. Rhea is also unaware that Reo is gay.

“Hey,” Reo and I both flinch when we heard Uno’s baritone voice. We slowly let go of each other’s arms and looked behind me, where Uno was standing as if he was about to challenge us to a brawl. What’s his deal this time? Doesn’t he know how to read the atmosphere?

“Why?” I asked frowning.

“Get in the car,” he says authoritatively.

“And why? We’re—” I was about to say something else when he interrupted me.

“Someone is watching us.”
