Chapter 229 The Forced Hand
Chapter 229 The Forced Hand
"Ah, our guests have arrived," Takeshi's father suddenly appeared from the corner with Saint's dad alongside him.
"Well, fuck," Oliver murmured, frowning at the whole setting.
The women suddenly turned and looked at them.
"Oh, look, the boys are here. I told you they would keep to time," Georgia said, standing from her chair, her eyes narrowing at Saint and Baby.
"You never told us you were planning to venture into the wine business with Mrs. Ross," Mr. Kross said, walking over to Saint.
Saint blinked, glancing at Georgia, "I... Um... I wanted to surprise you and Mom," he muttered.
"Come and sit with us, Saint," Mrs. Kross invited, smiling too brightly.
Immediately, Saint realized that his mother knew why they were there. That bitch, Georgia, must have threatened her. She was the only parent that knew about Saint and Baby's relationship; perhaps she tried to talk to Georgia about it and Georgia showed her true colors.
His father seemed truly at ease, unaware of the tension going on in the room.
"Hi, Uncle. Looking sharp," Cassian marched forward, bowing slightly to Mr. Kross.
"Did you know about this, too?" Mr. Kross questioned.
Cassian shrugged, "We're practically like twins. Of course I knew, but I tried to talk him out of it because I don't trust this Anna of a girl... woman." He cleared his throat, sending Anna a secret smirk.
Mrs. Kross suddenly laughed too loudly, "Oh, my, these children and their modern jokes. Darling, please come sit, the food will get cold." There was a pleading look in her eyes as she stared at Saint.
Mr. Kross frowned, watching Saint and Cassian closely. "Are you trying to tell me something?" He asked, his voice lowered.
His instinct was starting to pick up on the strange atmosphere around them.
Saint shook his head, warning Cassian with his eyes.
"Yes, Uncle, I'm trying to say... you know how you gave my mom hell for allowing me be me? Like... liking boys," he smirked, pointing toward Cam and Wong, "I think I outdid myself; I didn't get just one, but two. Cool, right? I mean I'm sure you would know how it feels to be with a—"
"Alright, let's go sit," Saint coughed to cover it up, tugging Baby and Cassian along.
"Enough," he murmured.
"Just throwing them off with nonsense details," Cassian whispered.
They reluctantly settled around the table, trying their best to look relaxed.
"Please, enjoy your meal," Anna said.
No one ate nor drank. They knew what they did to them last night; falling for the same trick would be stupid.
"So, Dad, Mom, I think you both need to leave now. I'll conclude this wine business with Anna and come see you guys at home," Saint suggested, pinning his eyes on his mother.
Mrs. Kross glanced at Georgia, "Um, we invited you here for a reason, dear," she said, nodding at Georgia.
Georgia smiled and waved over one of the silent butlers standing around the walls.
The butler walked over with a file, placing it in front of Saint.
Saint frowned, glancing at Baby and his friends before opening the file.
He suddenly started laughing, staring at the marriage certificate in front of him.
"Really?" He arched his brows at Georgia.
Georgia shrugged, "Your father agreed to it too. Right, Kross?"
Mr. Kross nodded, "We believe you have stalled your wedding long enough. And we want you to play this important game as a married man; it's good for the image," his father said decisively.
Saint chuckled, nodding slowly, "So, I sign this and you both just leave?" He asked.
Mrs. Kross nodded, "Yes. They leave and we can focus on our other businesses," she assured.
Saint glanced at Baby who slowly looked away from him. He sighed; he had no other choice.
"Okay," he agreed calmly.
Baby's nails dug into his palms as Saint signed the marriage certificate, his heart breaking into a million pieces.
All this trouble, still, he lost the thing he was fighting to keep. He didn't blame Saint; he'd do the same for his parents.
"There... I married your daughter," Saint gently dropped the pen beside the certificate.
"Congratulations, son," his father smiled in satisfaction.
"Finally, he's my son-in-law," Georgia smiled, hugging Mrs. Kross.
"Yes, yes, he is," Mrs. Kross replied, smiling uneasily.
"They can go now. We need to talk," Saint demanded.
Anna shared a look with Georgia, "It was nice having you two over. I will have my boys drive you home since they picked you up... of course—"
"No need," Saint threw his car key to his father, "They can go in my car," he stated.
"That's a better option; we don't want to trouble you ladies any further," Mr. Kross said, taking his wife's hand to help her up.
"Thank you for the lunch, Georgia, Anna. I hope your business goes well with my son," Mrs. Kross smiled, her eyes meeting Saint's in concern.
"Don't worry, Mother, our business is quite a simple and uncomplicated one," he assured.
"Goodbye, Uncle," Cassian waved at Saint's father.
Without another word, Saint's parents walked out of the living room.
"I want to see the gates; I know you have cameras," Saint demanded the moment his parents left the room.
Anna smirked, nodding to one of the butlers.
Soon, the family drama on the TV switched to the video feed from outside the house.
He watched his parents enter his car and drive away; when he was sure no one followed them, he turned to Georgia.
"We're here, what's your plan, apart from getting me to sign this shit?" He pointed to the certificate.
"Right," Georgia smiled, crossing her legs.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but hey Dad, you've been quiet; did your wife order you not to speak?" Takeshi asked his father who had been sitting quietly at the end of the table.
"You never come home, son. Perhaps you'll never get to leave again," his father replied calmly.
"Over my dead body," Takeshi spat.
"Quiet, my dear stepson. I will get to you, soon," Anna barely spared Takeshi a glance.
"What we want is simple, boys..." Georgia started, "Delete the videos, pictures, recordings, and we'll let you walk out of here freely," she said.
Saint chuckled, "What could you possibly do to your son-in-law? Want to make your daughter a widow in less than a day?" He smirked.
Georgia chuckled, "Oh, not you, darling. You'll live... him," she pointed to Baby and immediately, a butler had a gun to Baby's head.
"Great," Baby murmured, jaw clenching.
"Get that gun down if... you want a negotiation," Saint ordered.
"Ah... so it's true... you're really screwing him... no wonder he couldn't give me what I wanted all night—"
"Trust me, even without Saint, he'd still not fuck you, Grandma, or should I say... bunny mama," Cam winked at Georgia.
Georgia gritted her teeth, her face darkening, "You guys really have the guts, acting all carefree and careless in front of a gun," she chucked dangerously.
"Get the gun down," Kai stood, dropping a flash drive on top of the table.
The guys froze, staring at Kai in shock.
"Well, fuck," Baby muttered.
Love really did make people stupid, even the intelligent ones.
"Kai... what are you doing?" Saint asked slowly.
"Yeah, man, what the fuck are you doing?" Oliver glared at his cousin.
Kai laughed softly, "I know you guys won't like this, but can't you see? We're trapped." He shrugged, gesturing around them.
"Do you really want to watch your boyfriend bleed to death? Does anyone here want to lose their lives today? The answer is no. We have to survive—"
"For fuck's sake, Kai! We agreed to leave every fucking evidence behind!" Baby snapped, his eyes hardened in anger.
"Shh..." Anna shushed Baby, slowly standing, "Seems like one of you has sense after all." She walked over to Kai, tracing her fingers across his shoulders.
"Kai, don't be stupid," Saint warned.
Kai sighed, "I do have a condition," he said, picking up the flash drive and folding his hand around it.
"Alright, we're screwed," Wong shook his head.
"What is your condition, handsome?" Georgia questioned, standing as well.
