Chapter 87 DO IT BABY.

Chapter 87 DO IT BABY.
KIMBERLY.

She gasped over the phone, sobbing silently."Yes darling, how are–"
Like my phone repulsed me, I quickly tossed it back on the island, heaving out hard breath.
Mom. How did she get my number? Why did she think of calling me after–
A frazzled gasp left my mouth in realization.
Blaire. She was the one. She was not bluffing. She was really keen on getting back at me.
Oh God!
But for what reason. Rafael was never mine. Even if I wanted to, he would never be mine.
Yet, he made me feel special every time and there was never a time I had to feel inferior to him except when my brain was playing mind games on me.
Maybe that was why she was pressed to get back at me.
What do I do?
The wedding is coming close. What if she ended up ruining it for–
My phone started ringing again, I jerked off my seat, stepping away from it but my gaze found the screen, unable to take my eyes off it.
Surprisingly, it was Rita calling.
A little wave of relief washed through me because panic engulfed me again.
She's Blaire's mother. Maybe they were all in it together.
Inhaling deeply, I staggered closer to the buzzing device and reached for it with my shaky hands.
Swiping to the green icon, I placed it back on the cabinet, staring at it blankly.
"Kimberly."Rita's cheery voice came through on the phone, stilling my nerves a little.
God. This jumpy brain of mine. How could I have assumed that this kind woman was in on her daughter's bullshit.
"Rita."I stuttered, clearing my throat.
"How are you doing? I haven't been able to reach you."She complained softly, her voice holding no hardness.
My heart broke a little. I should have gone to her last night but I was too occupied to do that.
"I'm sorry, I–"
"It's all right."She cut in calmly, her words followed by a bout of cough that sounded too violent."But can we see today?"She added a plea in her tone.
I checked my wristwatch, it was already about twelve in the afternoon and I have no plans for today other than rotting at home.
But genuinely, I would do anything to avoid running into Blairs, especially today when she'd just made her first move.
"Of course, Rita. Of course."I answered quickly, not wanting to keep her waiting.
I heard her inhaled in relief, chuckling after."Thank you, Kimberly."
"I will be with you shortly." I said, ending the call.
The fear I'd managed to rein in started coming up in my body again, almost pushing me to retch all over.
Knowing that I couldn't stay there all day moping around, I left for my bedroom to take my bath.
After I was done with putting on a satin skirt with a halter top, I draped my shoulder bag on before walking out of my room.
The whole house was still silent like before, I knew Rafael was inside.
Wait. I should probably tell him that I was going out. But wouldn't it seem weird to let him know that I'm meeting with Rita since Baxter was there?
Things are still quite gutsy between them judging from how he talked earlier. They're making progress, yes, but they're far from getting close to standing each other in the same room anytime soon.
"I should really tell him."I muttered as I gathered the little courage left in me to knock on his door.
My knuckles stung a little against it, not the physical but the one that emerged from inside at the glaring reality of how we are right now.
After the third knock, the door pulled open, revealing a shirtless Rafael who was sticking his head out in between the door.
My throat went parched at the partial sight of him. His hair was wet, sticking to his soaked face.
He looked like someone that had just taken his bath, especially from the scent of his body wash.
"Hey."He croaked out, still holding the door tightly like he didn't want me to see his full frame.
"Uhmmm, Hi."I waved, chuckling nervously.
God. I know I sound like shit right now but he was just a distracting sight to behold.
An achingly beautiful one at that.
Rafael smirked, noticing my fixated gaze on him, instead of him to address it, he opened the door a little wider, showing the rippled muscles of his chest."Is there a problem"His smirk grew wider.
"Oh, nothing, I just want to inform you that I'm going out."I fumbled my words.
This time, his eyes ran me over a little bit explicitly before returning them to my face."Out?"
"Yeah, Rita."
His frown grew deeper."Rita?"
"I couldn't see him yesterday, remember?"
He scoffed, dropping his head down a little."Of course I do."
I heaved out, clapping my hands clumsily."So, I have to go now, I guess?"I reared my fingers behind me, pressing my lips together bashfully.
"No."He deadpanned, shaking his head.
"No?"I shot at him tersely.
Rafael gave me a knowing look, pushing the door towards him so it gave a creaking sound."And how will you get out of here?"
Shit. I didn't think of that. I haven't left this house without him."I will figure it out, I guess."I shrugged.
"You don't have to."
"I need to go to Rita–"
"We will go together."
"God no."I shook my head immediately, causing him to flip his gaze at me."No?"
I sighed, pushing my hair to the back."Raf, We can't."
What if Blaire flared up again? She always snaps when she sees us together, I don't want to trigger Mom than this.
Now, she knows that I have a rich husband. All she had to do was present a sob story, pitiful enough to evoke my pity so she could milk Rafael out and knowing that he had mommy issues, I don't want to burden that on him.
"Raf."He mumbled, his voice gravelly low as he finally let go of the door.
My lips parted as I ran him down with my eyes. He was half naked, actually.
A white towel was wrapped dangerously low on his narrow torso.
My hands itched slightly, wanting to reach for it the same way I did in the past–
Okay. I really needed to stop.
"Huh?"I stuttered, lost for words.
"You called me Raf."He pushed, resting his flexing arm on the door.
I released short snappy breaths, licking my dry lips."That's because–"
"You told me same."He paused briefly, now folding his hands together, his eyes lingering more on the exposed part of my body which my top couldn't cover.
Warm blew softly on my bare back, making me realize how exposing my outside was.
"Same?"I threw back at him, avoiding his gaze.
Of course, I remember. I told him that I missed us too. Which I did. Badly.
"Last night."He added, reaching for my waist.
Rafael scooted me closer until my chest was grazing his.
I held my breath, anticipating what he would say or do next.
My eyes fell onto those juicy lips of his and it took me everything not to take on them and–
"Do it."He whispered, snaking his hand into my top from behind.
I gasped lightly at the bare touch of his hand on my back.
"What?"I rasped out, blinking at him.
Rafael directed his lips at me intentionally, licking them sensually as well."You want to kiss me."
My mouth dropped further as I gaped at him.
Gosh. This man. He says everything. Without a hold of a bridle. And I loved his directness most of the time. Especially now, because it tipped my confidence in the moon.
"I...I"
"Come on, baby, do it."
