Chapter 71
Persephone’s POV
I shouted at him and if I had known earlier and had not wanted the coffee so much I would have flung the cup at his head.
“Why are you so angry, I have no idea!” shrugged Bernard and I growled low in my throat and he laughed at that as he continued,” You have known from the beginning that I was a degenerate and I had a habit of doing things which might cause you further embarrassment. And then you go and get awakened with my blood, did you really think it will have no consequences?”
I blinked a few times and then took another gulp of coffee before I actually formulated the words since I was so flabbergasted and let my mind work a little while before I could form the words.
“Are you actually trying to pin that on me? That you are fucking obsessed with me and you have been spying on me through my mirror just because you are a fucking pervert?” I shouted.
“Then who else?” he shrugged and I scowled so hard at him and bared my teeth as he laughed outright and said,” You are so cute when you are angry. Your skin almost takes the same shade as your hair…you just look like a cartoon character…I know just what I have to do…I need to get someone to create a cartoon based on how you look. There are so many talented artists that can do such justice to you and…”
“Shut the fuck up, Bernard!” I threw the empty coffee cup at his head and he caught it with a grin.
“You are so easy to rile up. Is that the reason that you are duelling a fledgeling today at dusk?” he asked and I had a feeling that with him present before me I was going to get the scowl as my permanent feature.
“She was the one who actually came up to me and wanted to talk to me about how I was someone who did not deserve to get all this attention and that I was a bitch..”
“She called you a bitch, huh?” he interrupted me.
“So did Anora. But Anora does it in a playful way but she was actually very angry and annoyed with me. I know that she is annoyed because she is a vampire and not a witch and Grandmaman made me the Light coven heiress so she is trying to get back at me.”
“Then you need to show her that she is not going to ever be a part of the coven again. Her family might not realise this now but soon they will understand that once her power manifested as a vampire that means that she will have to walk the path of night for eternity. Her powers will be different and her life will be different. But probably she is trying to get back into her family’s good graces with this.”
“I told her that if she defeats me in the challenge then I will implore Grandmaman to make sure that her family has the chance to prove themselves at the coven.”
“And what happens if she is defeated?”
“She becomes Anora’s sex pet.”
“What?” Bernard was the one shocked this time and he started guffawing so hard that he almost fell off the chair, rolled with holding his stomach and then laughed some more.
“And this isn’t wasting time on nonsense?” I had to ask him as he sniffled a bit and then said,” Trust me when I say that it was extremely boring here in the Academy until you arrived, princesa….the entertainment that you have brought in my life is the only reason that I am so damn obsessed with you. Any single moment you are left to your own devices and you start stirring up shit and that is an extremely endearing capability. I mean, trouble keeps on following like a needy puppy and that itself makes living so interesting.”
“I am glad that my plight makes you so damn happy. I am happy to be of service to you in some way, even if I am dead in the process,” I smiled with a saccharine sweetness as he immediately sobered up and stood up.
“Fine, we will start training then,” he said as he flicked his wrist and we were both out in a field again.
“What is with you and transporting me to places that I have no clue about?” I asked him as I stared at the field and he smiled.
“You have to be on your toes always when dealing with vampires. So what do you first know about vampires?”
“They burn with sunlight so they can come out only when it is dark. They can die if they are beheaded, exsanguinated and put on fire or if their heart is taken out from their body. That is a major organ and that is not something anyone can come back from,” I showed off my knowledge proudly and Bernard nodded.
“You already know more that necessary to begin with, so we will not waste any time on theory and direct go to practical lessons.”
“You could have waited till I had some breakfast? Or atleast you could have asked me while I ate and then brought me here?” I scowled at him again.
“My bad. The next time I train you to kill a newbie vamp who can move as fast you breathe I will think about what you need to eat,” he said sarcastically and then said,” I will place you in a simulation where you will fight a vampire newbie. It is not a real one but you will treat it as such or you are dead.”
“What do I need to do?” I asked as I mentally prepared myself again to be almost killed.
“Kill it of course,” he said as if that was the only thing I needed to know as I was in a stadium ring and there was a male vampire standing before me looking at me licking his lips.
Of course! This was no fucking simulation. He had actually thrown me in with an actual vampire to learn how to fight one. Before I could blink the vampire moved and rushed towards me and all I could do was raise my hands and shout,” STOP!”
By heaven’s mercy, the vampire stopped. It was struggling against invisible bonds but it gave me the time to prepare myself to fight. Then I smiled and gestured towards him to come hither.
He snarled and rushed towards me again as the magic barrier was gone.
