Chapter 38 — Wait for Me at Home

Today was Thea’s graduation day. She would achieve one of her goals today. Although Ace didn’t tell her, she felt that he would do something that might turn the event upside down.

She wore a simple white dress that showed off her slender legs, making other women jealous. Her hair was brushed into an updo, and some light make-up enhanced her beautiful features.

“Good day, everyone! We will be starting our graduation ceremony, so please take your seats and make yourselves comfortable.” Hearing this, Thea made her entrance, which caught the crowd’s attention.

They were inside a private hall at Stallion University. There were cameras all around the front door, and the red carpet guided everyone into the luxurious venue.

She lifted her head and saw a vacant chair at the front of the stage. Graduating as one of the top ten of her class made her more vulnerable to hate. She could feel the disgust and the envious looks of the people around her.

Thea sat down and observed the people on the stage. There was a total of ten chairs, and it was obvious that some were for VIP guests.

People were saying that the principal personally invited some big shots. Maybe that was why her classmates had gotten so dressed up with make-up and expensive outfits. It seemed like it was less a graduation and more of a competition.

She was confident and closed her eyes for a bit.

Her phone rang. She was a little bit stunned but pulled her phone out. She didn’t bother to look at the caller and automatically answered.

“Hello?” she said. The crowd was still filling up the hall and the teachers started to mumble things. Were they panicking?

“Hi there, kitten!” she almost choked when she heard Tristan’s voice. Damn this guy! He was supposed to be working.

“Kitten your ass!” she exclaimed quietly. “Why the hell did you call me? I’m not going to be your shield to those women anymore. I’m busy with my own agenda.” She was about to end the call when he quickly spoke.

“I just wanted to say congratulations! Little kitten, don’t forget about me after the ceremony,” he said gently. Crap! This guy!

She didn’t say anything. She suddenly felt a lot of eyes staring at her. She looked around while listening to Tristan.

“After graduation, I want to tell you something. You can consider it a surprise. Call me after, and I will pick you up. I really want to say it now, but I think it will spoil the fun. Goodbye then! See you later, little kitten.”

When the call ended, Thea’s body froze, and she felt goosebumps all over her skin. It felt weird. She was fine earlier, but suddenly, she felt that something was wrong.

She took a deep breath and shook her head. She had been waiting for this moment her whole life and she didn’t want anyone or anything to ruin it. She put her phone away and lifted her head to see the stage.

She shivered and automatically swallowed when she saw who was sitting on the stage. All the students were whispering. The calmness in her chest transformed into something entirely different.

“Let’s acknowledge the presence of these seven men. They’ve had a history at Stallion University.”

Thea’s chest tightened when the men on stage gazed in her direction.

“Let’s all welcome the guests for this year’s graduating class!” Thunderous cheers and applause rumbled inside the hall.

Seven men with their sexy suits stood up and smiled at the crowd. Well, except for the man in the center whose eyes were pinned on her. Goodness Gracious! How was he here with those deadly guys?

When she was about to look away, she saw Ace’s lips curve into a creepy smile. He mumbled something that made her stiffen. His eyes were cold and dull, but most women ignored his eyes to focus on his handsome features.

Thea could just make out what he mumbled: “Wait for me at home.”
