Chapter 89: Unveiling Secrets and Unspoken Love

“The couple room…she…

Lac did not wait for her to finish her words. He dashed down the hallway to the couple's bedroom. He pondered the danger Elora was in, hoping he could get there in time before something bad happened to her.

As he got to the door, he opened the door widely and furrowed his brows in confusion as he glared at the sight before him.

Elora was seated on the bed, pouring herself a red wine. She seemed perfectly okay to him and he became more confused as he walked in steadily.

“What’s going on? Are you okay?” He breathed, scanning the room that was brightly lit.

“I guess Lyra might have done more than what was asked of her,” Elora answered back as she turned her gaze to him.

The light that bathed the room in a warm glow contrasted with chilling urgency coursing through lac. The room was oddly beautiful and the sweet fragrance of jasmine filled the air.

The new and plush curtain flowed to the floor and the vase of fresh red rose flowers sat on the nightstand. He was confused beyond words but his gaze could only focus on Elora.

She was clad in a scented nightgown, her delicate features glimmering under the light.

“So Lyra lied?” He inquired.

“I did.” She responded sweetly, placing the bottle of wine on the table then sipped the one in her hand.

“Elora,” he muttered as he stepped forward. “What did you think you’re doing?”

Her lips curled up into a teasing smile as she lowered the cup to the table. “I couldn’t bring you here just like that. I wanted to spice things up so here we are.”

Lac ran a hand through his hair, bewildered. “I thought you were in real danger. I was worried.”

Elora stood up from the bed, the fabric of the gown swaying softly as she walked towards him. “I am here, safe and sound.”

Lac felt the sudden tension relax but he was still frustrated. “It isn’t a game…if something had happened..

“Happy birthday, Lac Jackson.” She cut in confidently as she stood before him.

His eyes lit up with surprise and the warmth of the room even added to the moment. “How did you know?”

“That should not be the question you should be asking me.” she retorted softly then took his hands in hers gently. “I just want to wish you a happy birthday and I want to say an apology.”

“I don't want to hear it.” He answered back as his expression softened. “Your wish is enough for me.”

“No, Lac…

“Shhh,” He interrupted, placing a finger over her lips. “You shouldn't apologize. Your reaction was valid but I won't take back what I said. I've feelings for you, Elora.”

Elora’s eyes sparkled with trust. “Your feelings made you rush in like a knight in shining armor. I’m impressed.”

Lac shook his head, captivated by her audacity. “You intentionally terrify me sometimes, you know that?”

She laughed softly. “I do. I didn't mean to frighten you though, I wanted to know if I still had the power to make you rush to my side.”

Lac grinned. “Even if we reject my love a hundred times…I will always come to your rescue.”

She tilted her head, her hair flowing down like a curtain around her shoulder. “What if I tell you that I might just have to consider the offer?”

Lac’s heart skipped a beat, hope and uncertainty filled him. “Are you serious?”

“In fact. Here’s your gift for today.” She replied as she walked away.

He watched as she stood in the middle of the room then slid the nightgown from her shoulders. Lac kept mite while Elora’s playful demeanor changed into something more intimate.

Her soft blush crept up to her cheek as she revealed her bare body.

Nerves of excitement rushed through Lac but he composed himself. “What are you doing?”

“Unboxing your birthday gift.”

He scoffed, his eyes fixed on her face. “I won't do this. I'm not in for whatever that's on your mind.”

“It is from my heart, Lac.”

Lac walked to her, pulled the nightgown underneath her up to her chest. “Not today, Elora.”

“Why?”

He hesitated for a moment before responding. “You are still untouched and you said it yourself that you don't want to do this with me. Or do you think I confessed my love to you because of your body?”

“I am also in love with you, lac.” Elora let out confidently.

The air became thick with unspoken feelings that had simmered just underneath the surface for so long.

“Are you serious?” He asked, searching her face for any flicker of doubt.

Elora’s confidence was unwavering and she stepped forward, Lac’s grip on the nightgown was still firm.

“I have been trying to navigate my feelings, Lac. I have been trying to hide them and pretend like I don't like the way you kiss me and the way you make me feel. You make it so hard not to fall for you so here I am.” She reveled.

Lac fought the tidal wave of emotion swelling in him. “I don't want to pressure you, Elora.”

“It is not pressure Lac and trust me, I'm being honest with how I feel. I first thought I hated you but I was wrong, I was falling for you gradually and even I'm shocked.” She replied, her tone gentle.

The truth in her eyes made it impossible for him to maintain his composure. Without thinking twice, he embraced her, making the nightgown fall on the floor.

“I love you, Elora. You don't know how much you mean to me.” He admitted.

“I love you more, Lac.” She retorted with a shaky breath.

She released him gently then walked to the headstand, naked. As she took the wine bottle, she poured him a drink that almost reached the brim.

Lac watched with admiration as she walked back to him, swaying her hips.

“You are intentionally doing this to me and I like it.” He declared as he took the cup from her.

“I’m glad you do.” She answered back, her eyes glinting with mischief as he drank it in a go.
