Chapter 88: Whispers of Unspoken Feelings

Chapter 88: Whispers of Unspoken Feelings

Nico struggled to admit Lac’s revelation. “That’s…huge. Do you actually have feelings for her?”

“And I confessed to her..she has been on my mind and sincerely, I can’t stop thinking about her,” Lac replied calmly.

“You confessed to her? Nico blurted out. “I mean if you really care about her, you should figure it out.”

“It was never my intention, Nico but it has happened and it’s messing with me. I’ll just sort it out myself.” Lac affirmed.

“I think she also wants to talk..what was her reaction when you confessed?” Nico questioned, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.

“She did not accept. I don’t think I wanna talk about it.” Lac said automatically.

Nico nodded. Uncertainty lingered in the air while Nico looked away. He had been noticing Lac’s attitude towards Elora recently but he did not know that he would be eager to let his feelings known to her.

The ride to the first orphanage home was smooth and as they alighted from the cars, a flicker of warmth lit in Lac’s heart as he stared at the building.

Every month, he’d make donations to the charity homes, and every year on his birthday, he’d come to visit. He spent his birthdays distributing valuable gifts to the homes of the less fortunate and orphanages.

He squared his shoulders and the sound of laughter and chatter filled the air as he walked in. The children's faces lit up with excitement as they saw him and most of them jumped up in joy.

“Happy birthday Lac!” A little girl with blonde hair rushed forward toward him with a big smile plastered on her face.

“Thank you, Eva!” Lac muttered as he patted her head, while waving at the others.

He stood amidst the crowd of excited children while the elderly woman came forward, smiling.

“Welcome Mr Jackson…We have been expecting you.” One of the women let out sweetly.

“I am sorry I came late today. Something came up and I had to handle it myself.” Lac retorted.

“It is fine. The kids have been waiting and they’ve all put up a decoration for you to welcome you.” She retorted.

“That’s great. I’ll be glad to see it.” Lac said.

Nico stepped closer, then whispered into Lac’s ear. “I have an important call to make. You can go on, I’ll join you.”

“Don’t take long. Remember we still have other places to go.” Lac answered back firmly and Nico nodded. He watched as lac and the excited kids made their way to the hall, followed by the elderly women.

Nico stepped to the side, reached his hand into his pocket, and brought out his phone. He then dialed a contact, pressing the phone to his ear as it rang.

After two rings, the receiver answered the call. “Hello.” The female voice said.

“Hello..What’s going on? Why are you not here already ?” Nico inquired, his tone low.

“Relax, big boy. I’m on vacation so I won’t be able to come down there this week.” The voice answered back dryly.

“You are wasting my time and you know I don’t joke with serious things. If you’re not in this city this week, forget about this.” Nico warned that they had ended the call.

He slid his phone into his pocket then looked around carefully. Eruptions of laughter and cheers welcomed him as he walked into the decorated hall. The kids had hung up handmade drawings and good wishes on the wall.

Lac sighted Nico and then made a gesture to him to come closer.

“Now, who wants to help me hand out these gifts?” Lac announced as his men came in, holding colorful bags of treats and toys.

The kids cheered happily and Lac could not help but crack a small smile.

Shortly after, they left the orphanage and then went to other charity homes. Later that evening as they rode home, the children’s laughter echoed in his mind. They were the ones who always made him happy on his birthday and he would never trade them for anything.

“How is Rowan doing?”

Nico shifted his gaze to Lac. “She’s doing well. Nyx has her eyes on her so everything is going fine.”

“Inform Nyx that Rowan must not leave her sight for once. After a few days, we will approach those mysterious workers and their mistress, Ophelia.” Lac instructed as he adjusted his wristwatch.

“Sure, Lac.” Nico retorted but curiosity got hold of him. “So what do you intend to do about your confession of love? I would advise you to go to Elora and try to talk things out with her. You can give her time and space to think about your confession.”

Lac’s expression remained the same. “I don’t want to talk to her about anything. I can’t force her so it’s better I leave her be.”

“Cool.”

Nico answered back, a sense of satisfaction waving over him.

Soon, they arrived at the Vila. As they stepped out of the car, Lac glanced back at Nico.

“You did well today. Get some rest.”

“No problem man,” Nico replied supportively.

Lac made his way into the Vila. The guards at the door bowed their heads slightly as he walked past them. He walked upstairs steadily and as he passed Elora’s room, he tightened his jaw, holding his emotions together.

He got to his room and took a deep breath, it was a busy day and he knew what he needed was a cold shower.

He took off his tie first then reached his hand to his blazer when suddenly a loud knock at the door stopped him.

“Who is it?” He growled.

“It is Lyra, sir! Miss Elora…she’s..

Lac widened his eyes as he noticed the urgency in her voice. He quickly walked up to the door and opened it swiftly. His gaze fell on Lyra, who looked frightened and almost out of breath.

“What is it? Where’s Elora!” Lac questioned sternly.

“She…she’s in danger,” Lyra replied fearfully.

“Where the hell is she?” He asked, his tone laced with concern.
