Chapter 33

Pauline POV

"So, you really like her?" Trey asked when she caught me staring at Madeline and I's photo. I instantly hide the picture.

"You don't have to hide it from me, Pau. Come on, tell me about her." She said as she sat on my bed.

I instantly tell her all the memories that Madeline and I used to have. It feels good to remember all of it.

"You know what, Pau? Madeline told me about you when you were in Davao. She told me she met a wonderful girl and who would have thought that she's referring to my sister?" She said and we both laughed.

Madeline, I really could not take this anymore. I'm falling for you and I could not stop it. Would you catch me once you knew about it?

Johana Morin POV

Ever since that day when Bea and I talked, I did my best to avoid her. She didn't even bother to talk to me again. It's like nothing happened. But I think we're better off this way. I went to a coffee shop today to do my assignment and if destiny's really trying you, I saw Bea and Madeline together inside the coffee shop. They're doing some papers too. Instead of walking away and finding another place, I decided to stay here. After I got my order, I put on my earphones and started to mind my own.

"Jo?" I felt someone poke me. I looked up and saw Pauline.

"Oh. Hey." I greeted as I removed my earphones. "You're alone?" I asked.

"Yep. I just want to roam around the mall but then I saw you here alone."

"You can join me here if you want. Do you want something to eat?" I asked.

She sat in front of me. "No. I've already eaten."

"Anyway, Congratulations, Pauline! Welcome to the team!" I smiled.

"Aw. Thanks, Jo!"

I was about to say something when she talked again. "Is that Bea and Madeline?"

I just nodded. "Are you following them?" She asked.

"No. Definitely not." I said shaking my head.

She nodded. "I don't want to see them."

"Why?"

"I get jealous."

I stared at her. "You like Madeline?" I saw her stiffened and I smiled at her. "Don't worry, the secret's safe with me."

She smiled too. "Do you still love Bea?"

"I do."

"But why did you leave her?"

"Because the timing was not right." I answered simply.

"What if the right time did not come?"

I was about to answer her question when we heard Madeline called us. "Johana! Pauline!"

I saw Bea following Madeline. I caught her looking at me and she immediately looked away.

"It's nice to see both of you here. Looks like you're having a serious conversation huh." said Madeline.

"Not really." I smiled.

"Hey, Pauline! Why are you so quiet? Aren't you gonna talk to me?" Madeline teased.

"Do I have to say something?" Pauline asked and started to walk away. I was about to follow Pauline but... "I'll take care of it, Jo. Sorry for that." said Madeline. I saw Madeline tap Bea's shoulder before she left.

I know Pauline wasn't able to control herself awhile ago that's why she reacted like that. She was jealous and couldn't handle the pain, I understand her.

And now, I'm alone here with Bea. I was about to get out of the shop when Bea held my hand. I looked at her and she instantly let go of my hand.

"Why?" I asked.

"My friends are inviting you to join our outing." Bea said.

"Would it be awkward for me to be there? You know..." I said.

"No. It's fine with all of us. They missed you. So?"

"S-Sure."

"I'll just tell you when's the exact date." She said. I nodded even though I wasn't sure of my decision. After that, we parted ways without even saying anything.

I decided to go to the dorm so I walked out of the mall and it rained so hard. I wasn't able to bring an umbrella so I just ran towards the waiting shed. I feel so cold so I just hugged myself while waiting for a taxi to come.

A car stopped in front of the waiting shed and it was Beatriz. "Hop in." She said.

I instantly went in her car. "Change your shirt." She said and gave me her jersey shirt.

"I'm fine, Bea."

"No, you got wet from the rain. You might get sick. Don't worry, I won't look." She said and cover her eyes. I bit my lower lip trying not to smile because she's so cute. I immediately changed my shirt.

"You done?" She asked.

"Why don't you look for you to know?" I teased.

"Johana." She said sternly.

"I'm done." I told her. She started the engine again. We're just quiet... and I couldn't stop myself from asking her one question that has been bothering me.

"Are you and Madeline... dating?" I asked.

She looked at me. "Fasten your seatbelt." She said.

"I'm asking you Bea."

Instead of answering my question, she leaned closer to me and helped me fasten my seatbelt but she lost her balance that made our faces closer to each other. We're just staring at each other. Until she stared on my lips. I can feel my heart beating so fast. I closed my eyes and felt her lips pressed against mine... I guess, I already know the answer.
