The guests left, criticizing me. I held back my tears. The security manager and a few supervisors couldn't stop the departing guests, and could only watch as the hall emptied out. They told me not to be angry, yet I couldn't quell the raging anger and sense of frustration bubbling inside me. In just a few minutes, all the guests were gone! My hard-earned restaurant, the business I had worked on for months, was being ruined by their interference and disruption! My heart ached so much! Daphne was even more smug now.
"Hahaha, you didn't listen to me. You asked for this!"
Her triumphant smile twisted her entire face. Even the rich man next to her, called Kent, couldn't stand it and reminded her to tone it down. But Daphne didn't care; she just wanted to humiliate me.
"This is our family matter! You don't know how much I hate her! Even though she's my sister, I've always treated her like a maid. A woman destined to serve others can't possibly run such a big restaurant. She doesn't deserve it at all, and now she's back to where she belongs!"
Daphne's laughter was almost maniacal. My parents were also pleased.
"Valentina, look at you. If you don't have the ability, don't take on such a big business. Now you're about to go bankrupt, aren't you?"
My dad said that if there were no customers in a week, the restaurant would definitely close down; it was inevitable.
"Sigh, if our younger daughter were the owner of this restaurant, the business would definitely flourish."
My mom fantasized about Daphne being the owner while I served as a waitress for her. They would never look at me with respect. Memories of the past replayed in my mind.
"Hahaha, Tina, even Mom and Dad say so. If you have any decency and consider me your sister, sign over the restaurant."
Daphne was truly arrogant. Of course, I wouldn't let her succeed; this was something I had worked hard for. Why should she get it? Why should any of them? The day they drove me away was the day I cut ties with them. Now that I've made something of myself, they want to take what's mine? Do they think I'm still as easy to manipulate as before?
I lost my temper and grabbed her hair, starting a fight. Daphne got even more excited and pulled my hair hard; we were entangled in a brawl. Daphne barely ate anything in pursuit of a slim figure and couldn't fight back effectively. I noticed that Kent didn't even try to help Daphne but quietly left instead. It seemed he didn't really care for her.
In no time, I had Daphne pinned to the ground with my arm pressing down on her shoulder. Memories of our childhood flashed back-how she used to show off but always lost fights, and I'd step in to defend her every time. Back then, I truly treated her like a sister and would have given her everything, even my heart! But now, our sisterly bond was gone.
I wouldn't show her any mercy. Daphne cried out in pain from my beating. Hearing this made my parents uneasy.
"You shameless bitch! How dare you do this to your sister! Do you think we're dead? You have no right to bully her while we're still alive!"
My mom rushed forward and kicked me hard while cursing me.
"You wretched girl! Hitting Daphne is like hitting me! You ungrateful brat, I'll kill you!"
I wouldn't let my mom hit me. When I was young, she always took out her bad moods on me by hitting me-it was routine for her. Old grudges surged up as I pushed her away once again.
She lost her balance; being heavyset, she nearly fell over but was caught by my dad just in time.
"Oh dear, oh dear! I can't live like this anymore! If we don't kill this bitch today, our life will be ruined completely!"
My mom cried to my dad, insisting he join in and beat me together with them. Three against one-I would surely lose.
