“Can we make a snowman?” She asked after a while so we made a snowman while laughing and talking about snow, Christmas, and most of the time, about things that weren’t very important.
When I was with her it was like I was in a different orbit, in a reality where I was really happy with my daughter. It was amazing how I could forget everything when I was with this little girl. I played with her a little more in the park until night fell and the weather got colder.
“Atchim!” The girl let out a sneeze.
“God bless,” I said and she giggled. “We’d better get somewhere warmer.” I took her in my arms to take her back to the car.
“Are we going home? Mommy should be waiting for me,” she said as I sat her down in the car and buckled her in.
“Mommy stayed with you for five years. Don’t you think it’s time y spent a day with Dad?” I asked, rubbing the tip of her nose with m finger, which was so red.
“I think so,” she replied, giggling. I smiled too and left a warm kiss on the top of her head and then got into the car, starting it and leaving the square.
I had booked a room at the best hotel in town, so I took my daughter there and stayed with her playing with the toys we had bought at the
mall earlier.
“Daddy, I want to use the bathroom,” she said with a somewhat distressed face.
“Oh, of course. Come with me, I will help you,” I said, getting up from the carpet on the floor where we were sitting and going with her to
the bathroom.

“Daddy. Are you a man or a woman? You’re a man, right?” She asked me a bit confused.
“I’m a man, yes,” I replied and chuckled.
“Hm. Then you have to stay out and let me use the bathroom alone,” she said decisively. “Mommy said never to let a man use the
bathroom with me.”
“Oh, your mom did good. But do you know how to use the bathroom yourself, sweetie?”
“I know,” she said with a smile.
“Okay then. Anything, I’m out here,” I said, leaving the bathroom and closing the door behind me.
I kept thinking about the details that the girl did, simple things that showed how she was being raised so well with Laura. It was true that my ex-wife didn’t need me to raise that girl, she alone was doin great job. But even so, I would still insist on staying close to my daughter from now on.
Moments later, I practically ordered a feast for my daughter. Once again I was aware that I would be overdoing it, but even so, I was still going to continue spoiling her with all the extravagance.
My daughter sat at the table and looked at me. “Where’s Mommy?”
She asked.
“What?”
“It’s just that I can’t have dinner without her. Can you call Mommy, please?”
“Um…” I adjusted myself in the chair. “Why don’t you eat first? What do you think of macaroni and cheese? That chicken looks good. How

about apple pie for dessert?” I tried to entice her with food, but she r with food, but she shook her head no.
“I want my mother. Please let me talk to her,” she asked.
I sighed looking down. “Your mother will want to keep you away from me,” I said. I was so scared of losing her.
“She won’t. I’ll ask her for you to come live with us. You can sleep in my room if you want,” she offered, making me smile a little.
I knew that wasn’t being fair to either Annie or Laura, I shouldn’t be separating a mother from her daughter. So I sighed and picked up my cell phone to call Laura.
