Chapter 51 Unexpected Culprit

Chapter 51 Unexpected Culprit
Adrian's POV.

Whoever it was, I had to find them and find the mastermind behind the plan.

None of them spoke and that made me groan in frustration. I rolled up the sleeves of my shirt, moving closer to them.

“I’m willing to spare whoever it is that handed the bread to her,” I said. “But it won't take long before I change my mind.”

They all trembled but none of them were ready to speak.

Cecelia walked to me, standing beside me with a smile plastered on her face.

“Mr. Kane,” she smiled. “How about we settle this amicably?”

“We can't be sure that the one who did that heinous crime is one of the waiters,” she continued. “It could be one of the guests in disguise.”

Her words fell on deaf ears as I acted like she wasn't even here. My eyes were fixed on the maids who had their faces turned down.

I scanned them quickly with my eyes. They were all six but two of them were fidgeting on their fingers, their faces looking uneasy.

“Do you think I will hand you all over to the police for investigation?” I laughed. “No”

“I'll torture everyone of you, watching as life slowly drains out of you until you decides to talk,” I gritted. “And no one, no damn person will question me.”

I walked in front of them all, still taking note of their reactions.

“You still don't want to talk?” I stopped in front of one of the girls who fidgeted with their fingers.

She quickly gasped, her face looking startled, her throat bobbing like she had just been resurrected to life.

“It's not me,” she said sharply, her lips trembling slightly. “I really wasn't the one who did it.”

I smirked at her words. She wasn't the one who did it but she didn't say she doesn't know the one who did it.

“Then who did it?” I asked.

Once again, the girl went silent, only fidgeting with her finger in a more nervous way.

That moment, I knew with no doubt that the person who poisoned Evelyn was here. Definitely here.

“Don't you hear me?” My face twitched in disgust. “Who is it?” My voice was stern, eyes unforgiving.

She swallowed hard and her breath hardened. Tears blurred her vision and it turned into slow silent sobs.

My face was forced to snap to the side when someone suddenly went on her knees. Her lips trembled. “It was me.”

I moved over to the girl who had tears rolling down her eyes. The room fell into silence for a while and I chuckled afterwards, my sinister chuckle making the girl speak again.

“Please forgive me, I was just following orders,” she said.

I smirked loudly at her words. “Orders?” I asked. “Whose orders?”

She didn't respond immediately and only increased the sound of her sobs.

“That's……” I tucked my hand in my pockets, anticipating what she had to say.

She didn't want to talk, it was obvious. But if I don't get the truth I seek, no one is leaving here.

“Mr. Kane,” Cecelia appeared in front of me, blocking my view of the girl. “I really don't think the girl did it.”

“I think she's just trying to get us out of here quickly, that's why she's trying to take the blame.”

Scratch that. I understood the look on the girl's face when I asked her who ordered her.

She was scared. She doesn't want to reveal the identity of the person. Either she was protecting whoever it was, or she was threatened not to talk.

“Move aside,” I said to Cecelia, face darkened.

She gulped. She heard what I said loud and clear but didn't move. With a hand, I shoved her aside, my eyes meeting with the girl who was still on her knees once again.

“Tell me this instant,” I said calmly. “Who's orderings?”

I had a feeling that it was Cassandra. She needed to get rid of Evelyn to be able to carry her plans out efficiently but I didn't jump to conclusions yet.

“Mrs. Cecelia,” she said quickly. “She ordered me to do it.”

My eyes widened. My gaze snapped to Cecelia who was taking her gaze away from me.

The look of terror on her face showed she wasn't denying that.

“You may all leave except her,” I ordered the waiters, pointing to the one on her knees.

I turned my face to Cecelia again. “Care to explain?”

“I didn't mean to harm her—”

Excuses.

“But you did,” I cut her off before she could make any, my voice was sharp, tone raised. “You made her end up in a hospital.”

“That was poison you used on her,” I said.

She didn't deny it and that was all I needed. I picked my phone and dialed Edward.

He was told to come here and he arrived with lightning speed, fifteen minutes being all he used.

“Escort them to the police station,” I said. “I want both of them locked up.”

“Mr. Kane. We can settle this without involving the cops,” Cecelia said, almost pleading but the rest of her words were said to the room and not me. I exited the room immediately, wanting to head back to the hospital.

Just as I got to the car, my phone started beeping with messages.

I turned the screen on. An exclusive article had just been released and it was turning the whole media upside down, other media companies were ready to bombard me with questions.

“Is it true?”

“Do you want to have an interview to confirm her claims or do you want to deny it?”

The article was about me so I decided to check what they were all going crazy about.

My eyes widened in surprise when I finally saw it.

“An Exclusive Interview: Cassandra Vale Claims To Be Pregnant with Adrian Kane's child.”

I scoffed and read the headlines over and over again. She really wants to bring me down.
