"Agent Lion? Agent Lion!"
"I'm here, agent Dragon!"
"Hey, stop it, agent Dino! Ack. Aw!"
"Hey! Why did you hit agent Panda?!"
"Shh, hush now. Agent Dino is going to prison!"
"Are you alright, agent Panda?"
"Yes. Sniff."
"Aish, Agent Dino you're such a bully. Come here, you bully!!"
"Aaahh, stop, stop! Agent Monkey, help!"
"Agent Lion let's go!"
"I'm going to turn you all to ash!!!"
"Hey! Wait for me!"
Chase felt his brain splitting as wave after wave of different images continued to strike him. There were five children. It wasn't two but five now. Who were they?
He knew he was dreaming. He was aware, yet he couldn't see anything clear. Everything was a blur.
"Chase, meet your new siblings. They will be staying in this house with you from now on," Chase's mother said with a very wide smile on her face and Chase's smile got wider in return. What he wasn't expecting were the two children in front of him.
"Hello, big brother," the kid said with a shy smile and Chase chuckled because the kid was just too cute.
"Big brother? I will call you big brother now?" the other one asked, completely amused because of the sudden turn of events. Even Chase was surprised by this announcement.
"Yes, honey. Chase here, will be your big brother from now on," Chase's mother said in a gentle tone that Chase loved ever since he first heard it.
"Yay!! I'm so happy!" the kid exclaimed while jumping high in excitement.
Chase loved the sight.
No, he screamed. What was he seeing? What did all of this mean? Who were these two children? A second batch of roaring shockwaves made their way to Chase's head, causing him to clutch on the sheets of his bed. Wake up, Chase! Wake up! He repeatedly screamed to his body and mind. His brain betrayed him yet again as the dream continued flashing another scene that made Chase start to question things. Everything.
Little Chase looked at his grandfather in confusion as the latter stared back at him, a smirk playing on his face that made Chase's hair stand all over his body.
He saw tears in the child’s eyes as his grandfather approached the kid and caressed the reddened cheeks—a color made by his grandfather. Chase didn't understand but he felt something wasn't right with the way his grandfather touched and looked at the kid.
But then his grandfather got up from his seat and motioned for Chase to get out of his room, leaving his grandfather and the kid inside. He stared at Chase for a few more seconds before placing his pointing finger on his lips, gesturing Chase to be quiet, leaving Chase alone in the hallway of the second floor of the house. Slowly, the door closed.
Chase sat up straight in his bed, gasping for air, feeling his heart against his chest twisting in pain. His hand slowly went up to his cheeks and noticed the still streaming hot tears from his now swollen eyes.
Air seemed to continuously escape Chase's lungs as he slowly recalled his dreams. There were five children. Five familiar…children. Who were they? Who were they to Chase? Then there were two children with blurred faces. Who were they?! Chase pulled his air hard in frustration. And last but not the least, he saw his grandfather. Why did his grandfather give him that kind of look? Chase might not understand before what that look had meant, but now he did. And it only screamed of one thing: not good. No, it was evil.
Chase's eyes widen in terror and felt his stomach churn, his mouth just a few inches to taste the eaten substances mixed with acid bile from it. He gripped his hair firmly and started to pull them out, hardly trying to calm his nerves down. He gasped for more air as he began counting one to ten. Breathe, Chase, breathe. When the swirling inside his stomach didn't stop, he stood up and headed quickly to the bathroom. He felt his knees tremble as he went to crouch down, disgorging almost every content of his stomach.
Feeling the sudden vibration with a ringing sound inside his head, Chase howled and screamed, for he knew he didn't. He didn't know anything. He couldn't understand anything.
Regaining a little bit of strength, he stood up and wobbly walked towards his colossal glass window.
With tightly shut eyes, he took in deep breaths, balling his hands into fists. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at the view with determined serious eyes, he decided this time, he was ready. Whether it was about those five children or his grandfather, or himself—Chase would know about them.
He walked towards the nightstand and grabbed his phone. Quickly scrolling to the messaging app, he typed the right words and pressed the sent button.
Dr. Kant, I'm ready.
