Chapter 15
He was startled and stolen from the conflict inside his brain by the vibration of his phone in his pocket. He carefully grabbed it and instantly smiled upon looking at the caller ID. His smile wavered a bit with the sudden feeling inside his stomach, making his chest pound and it didn't feel right. Something felt off and Chase felt something was about to happen and his heart didn’t like it.
"Hello~ May I speak to my love please?" the cheerful voice of his girlfriend from the other line greeted him, making his lips curl up into a smile again, pushing all the confused sudden thoughts that had formed away.
"You’re speaking to him, gorgeous."
“Ah, it can’t be. It’s Chase Dalton? Am I really speaking to the most handsome, talented, drop-dead gorgeous actor Chase Dalton?” Isabella’s voice sounded like a fangirl.
Chase shook his head, chuckling at his girlfriend’s antics. “The actor is missing his girlfriend. Can you call her for him please?”
“Oh! Why didn’t you say so earlier? I’m going to call her now!” Isabella responded, making Chase smile from ear to ear. In a heartbeat, Isabella’s voice came again, “Hello, this is Chase’s girlfriend Isabella.”
Adorable. Chase thought. “Hello Isabella, this is Chase. I miss you.”
“I miss you more! Actually, I miss you a lot!” Isabella said, sounding as if she was pouting and Chase could already imagine it.
The couple talked more sweet and casual things only they knew and understood until Isabella opened up another discussion.
"Babe, I'm going to visit a friend," Isabella suddenly said and it made Chase's smile fall. The loud pounding against his chest slowly coming back.
"Where?"
"My hometown. I won't be around for some days. I wanted to let you know before I go," then there was a pause. "I'm going to miss you. A lot."
Chase felt something inside him that wanted to protest and wanted to stop Isabella from going away from him. It wasn’t that Chase wanted Isabella to stay beside him all the time. Well, he wanted that, but he knew that couldn't be possible. But there was something…something in Isabella's way of speaking to him right now that didn't feel right. That, or Chase was just being paranoid because of his dreams.
"Hmm. I'm going to miss you more. You know I'd love to visit your hometown too," Chase paused for a moment, glaring at the pile of white sheets on his table screaming of review, confirmation and fixation, "But I have a mountain of white sheets right now."
There was a chuckle from the other line before it spoke. "It's okay, Chase. I understand. Just do what you've promised me, okay?"
"Okay…When are you going?" Chase asked, feeling his chest pound in a very weird way again.
"Tomorrow dawn…Chase?"
"Yes, baby?" Chase was silently cursing at himself, telling his heart to stop making unnecessary noises inside him.
Stop…Stop…
"I love you." Chase's heart stopped its weird noises upon hearing the words from Isabella. Chase exhaled then, realizing he had held his breath the moment he asked Isabella a question. His heart was now pounding loudly but in a good way.
"I love you too, Isabella," Chase responded with a smile on his face. Feeling better in and out, Chase felt the urgent need to see his lover quickly.
"Let's have dinner later, my treat!" he heard the cheerful voice of his girlfriend, uttering the words like he had read Chase's mind.
"How about we eat at my place? I'd rather have you there and do some stuff afterwards," Chase grinned at the thought. Well, it was just right for the younger to leave him something good and worth remembering if she'd be gone for some days, right?
Isabella giggled and chuckled before speaking in a suggestive tone, "Right. Let's have dinner in your place and do some stuff after."
Chase let out a soft chuckle in response, grinning as his heart was filled with happiness once again, pushing all the worries and confusion away completely.
