Chapter 34 Thirty -Four
Chapter 34 Thirty -Four
Xavier
I watched him take her hand into his and they started walking away. I just stood there staring at them, my eyes sullen and my shoulders slumping at my side. I was breathing heavily like someone who was being chased.
I was looking utterly defeated, I clenched and unclenched my fist. My expression tightened.
I wasn’t mad at the fact that Andre just talk back at me in that manner or the fact that he kind of bruise my ego.
It was the fact that after scolding both of us, she choosed him. She walked away with him without even hesitating.
But she didn’t even answer me when I talked to her.
I shoved my hands in my hair. I looked up and students were already around us, flashing their phones on our faces and murmuring all sorts.
I didn’t even want to hear what they were yarning about right now. I just wish I could block all of them out of my face.
I wondered what their headline would be next. Maybe the Almighty Xavier grey fighting over a scholarship student?
I just hope my Father doesn’t see it because that will only means adding fuel to fire.
My feet felt rooted to that spot, for a moment I couldn’t even move my leg, there was a kind of numbness on my leg. I didn’t want to look at anyone’s face. I felt deeply embarrassed.
“That must have bruised his ego so much,” I heard someone say.
“I thought he has a girlfriend, why then is he fighting over this girl,” another person whispered.
“His girlfriend must be so embarrassed.”
I swallowed hard, wishing for the ground to swallow me.
I took one foot back and then the other and I turned around slowly.
I met Cassie’s gaze, she was staring, her eyes were cold and hard. If looks could kill she will definitely be killing me right now.
I shifted my eyes away from her, I couldn’t even look her right in the eyes now.
Her expression tightened, she stormed away heading to the car.
Oh no! How am I going to deal with her?
I can’t even make up any excuse at this point because she saw it all.
I walked slowly, dragging my foot on the floor. I was honestly scared of entering my own car now.
I stood at the front of the door, still hesitating to open the door.
She wound down the window.
“Get in the car!” She commanded, her voice low, she wasn’t looking at me. Her gaze were fixed on the air, her expression just cold.
I didn’t move.
“Get in the car!” She yelled.
I flinched. I never knew I could be this tensed to her voice. I opened the door quickly.
Sitting carefully and leaning my body on the door, I tried to sit away from her and not making my body touch her. Anything little thing might annoy her right now.
“I wondered what he sees in her, she is not even all that,” she hissed underneath her breath.
I pretended that I didn’t hear, because if I should react right now , we will probably go back and forth and who knows, this car might just explode because of our chaos.
“Why were you even there? Why did you want her to go with you? When did you start all that?” She rambled all in one breath.
“Babe can we just not go into that right now,” I said calmly.
She turned to face me this time, she was now sitting at the edge of the chair.
“The whole school was watching, Xavier.”
She placed her palm on her forehead, closing her eyes.
“I can’t even believe I was just standing there, letting you embarrass me in front of the whole school,” she said, jabbing a finger at herself.
“I didn’t force you to be there though,” I said simply.
She opened her mouth, staring incredously at me.
“What?”
A heavy slap landed on my shoulder.
I jerked back.
“What… I was only telling the truth.”
“What do you even take me for?” She snapped.
“Oh my God,” she sighed.
She was making things worse right now.
“Please Cassie can you just let this slide and let me have some peace,” I said calmly, gesturing my hand in the air like I was preaching a very important sermon.
She didn’t say anything, she turned away from me, folding her arms across her chest, her face faltering into a frown, not deep.
Silence filled the air for a moment.
Then she turned facing me again, this time she wasn’t frowning, her expression was neutral, serious.
“Do you even want to be with me?”
My heart raced, I swallowed hard.
I looked away from her. What am I supposed to tell her right away?
Does she even wants to hear the truth?
“I’m talking to you Mr Xavier Grey,” she said simply, her eyes hard and with so much seriousness.
“See … Cassie can you just rest with this whole conversation,” I pushed my head back.
“No Xavier, I won’t rest till you answer that question,” she said firmly.
“Fine! I have always told you I love you, you know that, how do you want me to say it again!” I snapped.
“ I have always given you everything you wanted, I have met all your demands, what more do you want?!”
Her eyes widened, she shook her head slowly and her lips quivered. She wanted to say something but she couldn’t.
“ I just want Clarity, I want it to be clear that I’m the one you chose ,stay away from other girls, is that too much to ask?”her voice was breaking.
And since I have known Cassie, I have never seen her in this state.
I don’t like the fact that I am making her feel this way. But I don’t think I want her anymore.
I don’t even know how I’m going to tell her this.
I finally got home, after we dropped Cassie off at her house. I haven’t even taken off my uniform. I sat in bed and she was all over my head again.
I picked up my phone, my fingers hovering over the screen as I stared at Kimberly’s number.
The phone was ringing, anxiety creeping through me, wondering what I was even going to say if she answered the call.
The phone stop ringing indicating she has answered the call
“Hello,” she said softly.
My stomach fluttered. What was I going to say now?
