Chapter 39
I went to the dining room, then I was shocked to see Eliza and her parents. My heart turned cold and I looked at my mom and dad. So this is why they want me to come home so suddenly? I clenched my jaws and grabbed a chair as I sat far from everyone.
“Seth, sit beside Eliza '' I looked at my dad who just spoke and chuckled. I shook my head and grabbed my phone out as I opened the Seyah’s favourite game which was on my phone. I started to play it ignoring everyone who was present there.
“Seth, don’t act like a kid. Just stop it,” Hearing my father, I sighed and put the phone back as I looked at him. Then he sighed and looked at Eliza’s parents as they smiled at me. I didn’t want to smile at them because I fucking hate Eliza.
“Seth, we were talking about the marriage between you and Eliza. I hope you remember that you said you would marry her” my heart hammered against my chest. I looked at my father who was raising his eyebrows at me. Then I shook my head.
“I was drunk at that time” I simply said as I looked at Eliza, her face went pale hearing my answer. Not only tried to seduce me but also here asking me to marry her. What kind of woman is she?
“Seth but we…” Suddenly, Eliza looked at me and spoke. Her eyes filled with tears as she looked at me. I watched her ugly face for a while and looked away because it was making me want to faint.
“Seth, you have to take responsibility for what you did.” Hearing my mom’s strict voice I looked at her. Responsibility? For what? I haven’t done anything, if I ever have to take the responsibility over a woman for what I did, it would only be Seyah because she was the one I slept with.
“Eliza, why don’t you fucking tell them that I didn’t sleep with you? Even if you fucking drugged me that night, I didn’t even lay a finger on you. Speak truth woman” I slapped on the table as I looked at Eliza. Then she gasped and her face ashen.
After acting for so long as if she was innocent now everyone will know what’s the truth. I stayed patiently for years but this woman keeps trying to get me with her bloody tricks.
“Seth..” Eliza forcefully smiled at me and then looked at my parents who were looking at her. Then she sighed and lowered her head. Seeing her reaction I chuckled and looked away as I grabbed my food plate.
“Seth, just stop being stubborn. You’re already twenty five, you need to get married and have children, you can’t stay like this forever” mom rubbed her forehead and said with an annoying tone. I waited for a while and looked at her stressed face.
She was getting old, and so was my dad. My heart tightened seeing them like that, I wasn’t a good son for then because I fucking left. This is the first time I’m visiting this house after so many years. They lost their both children because of both Seyah’s and my fault. We cannot blame them for what they did as our parents.
Taking a deep breath and I lowered my head, should I listen to them and get married? Then what about the promise I made to Seyah? Is she really not coming back here? We are not teenagers anymore, maybe Seyah had changed her feelings she had for me but I know that’s fucking impossible.
“Okay, I’ll get married” I simply said as I looked at my mom. She looked at me with a shocked face and then it turned to a beautiful smile which I haven’t seen for years. I watched them for a while and got up from the chair as I walked away from them.
Walking upstairs, I entered the balcony. I leaned against the wall and watched outside for a while, then I took the cigarette pack out of my pocket and took the lighter out as I started to do the thing I've been doing all over these years.
As her brother, I shouldn’t be like this. Mom was right, we cannot just have a normal life even if we got married. But how am I going to marry another woman while I have Seyah in my heart? I never stopped loving her, and I never forgot her even for a second. She was always there in my mind.
Maybe it was time to let go, she’s also an adult now and so am I. Even though I didn’t regret loving her or being with her, as a matured woman she may have changed now. Anyways it’s been seven years, time can change people.
“Seth,” I heard my mom’s voice again and I looked at her. She looked at me for a while and her eyes fell on my hand while I was holding the cigarette. She let out a sorrowful sigh and shook her head helplessly.
“You need to stop this or you will die soon,” she said. I smiled at her and shook my head.
“Mom you know this helped me a lot to keep my mind away from her” looking straight into her eyes I muttered. Then she forcefully smiled and caressed my face.
“You’ve changed Seth, changed in a bad way. Even if she comes, she will also complain to you about what you’re doing. Becoming heartless and cold is not the answer for everything”
“As your mother, I cannot let that happen. You two are my children, I gave birth to you guys, so it’s really hard for me” she said with a gentle voice. I knew it and I can fucking understand her but how can I just force my feelings back? I loved her and still love her.
“Seyah will have a good life there Seth, she will get married like you and have a family so just forget everything and move on” I couldn’t help but smile hearing her, my eyes filled with tears but I forced them back.
“Will she mom? Will she move on?” I asked her as I looked at the sky, then she waited for a while and patted my head.
“Both my children are intelligent so just like you agreed with us she will also do the same” I couldn’t help but smile. I sighed and nodded at her, maybe it’s really the time to move on. Not everyone has happy endings.
“Okay then, arrange the wedding mom. I’m gonna sleep” I kissed her cheek and walked away as I entered Seyah’s room. I wanted to have a peaceful life here, where she slept for sixteen years.
