Chapter 750: It Was All Worth It

When Anna suddenly heard the news of William's death, she was taken aback.

Instinctively, she tightened her grip on Adrian's hand.

Sensing her unease, Adrian gently patted the back of her hand and said softly, "Don't be afraid."

But Anna wasn't afraid-she was simply at a loss.

Rosalind suddenly knelt before her, begging, leaving Anna unsure of how to respond.

In the past, even when Rosalind asked for favors, it was always with an air of superiority, as though it was only natural for Anna to comply. She had never acted like this before.

For a fleeting moment, Anna felt deeply uncomfortable.

Seeing that Anna hadn't responded, Rosalind, who had just been pulled up by Will, grew anxious.

"Anna! I'm begging you! I really am! It was all my fault before, and Alex was wrong too. Please forgive Alex. We promise we'll never cause you trouble again. Once Benjamin gets better, we'll leave Riverton and start over somewhere else…"

She dropped to her knees again, this time with such force that she almost tried to kowtow to Anna. Fortunately, Will stopped her in time.

Rosalind's tearful pleas were filled with desperation, her humility sinking to the ground.

Anna turned her head away, unable to bear the sight, and looked toward Adrian.

She didn't know what to say, but her heart had softened.

Adrian noticed the change in her expression. He turned to Rosalind and said, "Once Benjamin stabilizes, you'll move out of Riverton immediately and never return."

Hearing this, Rosalind hurriedly promised, "We will! We absolutely won't come back."

Their family had already lost their place in Riverton. Moving elsewhere was their only option.

"You'd better keep your word," Adrian said coldly. "Otherwise, I'll personally make sure you're removed."

With that, Adrian took Anna by the hand and left.

The moment Will let go of Rosalind, her legs gave out, and she nearly collapsed to the ground.

Still, knowing that the forgiveness letter would likely go through now gave her some relief.

Remembering that Benjamin had woken up, Rosalind quickly returned to his hospital room to check on him.

Benjamin had indeed regained consciousness, but he was incredibly weak and dazed.

It took Rosalind calling his name repeatedly before he finally realized she was there.

By the time Andrew fetched the doctor, Benjamin's condition had somewhat improved.

The doctor, inspecting Benjamin's recovery, couldn't help but marvel.

After a thorough examination, the doctor concluded that Benjamin might actually survive.

"Now that he's awake, it's a matter of whether he makes it through these critical days."

Rosalind stared nervously at Benjamin on the bed. "He will. He has to."

From that moment on, she resolved to stay by Benjamin's side every second, ensuring nothing went wrong.

Once she'd calmed down, Rosalind turned to Andrew and said, "Andrew, take care of your father's funeral arrangements, and when you get the news, go pick Alex up."

Andrew froze at her words. "Alex can come out?"

Rosalind nodded. "I promised Anna that once Benjamin's condition stabilizes, we'll leave Riverton for good. You need to start preparing."

Andrew nodded firmly.

As long as Alex could be released, leaving Riverton didn't matter.

He had already lost his job at the hospital, so starting over in a new city seemed like the best option.

Their family needed a fresh start.

As Anna and Adrian left the hospital in their car, Anna gazed out the window and let out a soft sigh.

"What's wrong?" Adrian asked.

Anna hesitated for a moment before saying, "I'm sorry for making you investigate for so long, only for me to forgive Alex in the end."

Adrian had spent so much time and effort investigating, yet here she was, choosing to let it all go. It felt like a waste of his work.

"It wasn't a waste," Adrian said gently. "At least we won't have to worry about them anymore."

He reached out to ruffle Anna's hair, his tone indulgent.

Anna tilted her head slightly to look at him, meeting his warm gaze. Her heart softened.

Adrian continued to look at her and said, "By the way, I've decided to take a long vacation to stay with you and help you through your pregnancy until the baby is born."

Anna, who had been leaning against him, smiled and snuggled closer. "A vacation until the baby is born? Isn't that just an excuse to slack off?"

"Exactly. So, Mrs. Lancaster, will you allow me to slack off?" Adrian grinned as he whispered in her ear.

Anna's ears turned red as she murmured, "I'll allow it."

If Adrian wanted to stay with her, she was more than happy to let him.

After they returned home, the letter of forgiveness was sent to the police station.

Alex was released shortly afterward and, with Andrew, quietly arranged William's funeral. The service was low-key, and they took the urn with them upon leaving.

A week passed, and Benjamin's condition miraculously stabilized.

The Hayes family decided to leave Riverton.

Before they left, they sent Anna a letter.

The letter was written by all of them, expressing their gratitude and apologies.

They had wanted to thank Anna in person but feared disturbing her, so they chose to write instead.

In the letter, they also apologized for everything they had done in the past.

After reading it, Anna simply placed the letter aside.

The Hayes family no longer stirred much emotion in her, even with their apologies. She felt calm.

"Are you hungry? What would you like to eat? I'll have something prepared," Adrian asked as he walked over and saw Anna lost in thought.

Anna smiled helplessly. "We just ate not long ago. How could I already be hungry?"

Adrian had been so worried about her these days that he kept finding ways to feed her.

Anna felt like she was gaining weight.

The baby bump wasn't showing yet, but she was already putting on weight-this couldn't be good.

Since she said she wasn't hungry, Adrian didn't insist. Instead, he brought her a warm glass of milk.

As the weather grew colder, Anna had developed a liking for warm milk.

Days passed, and Anna's belly gradually became more noticeable.

During a routine checkup, they discovered she was carrying twins. Both she and Adrian were overjoyed.

With each passing checkup, the due date drew closer.

Finally, Anna's delivery day arrived.

Adrian stayed with her in the private hospital, never leaving her side. His care was meticulous.

Both were nervous, but Adrian was clearly more so, which made Anna feel unexpectedly calm.

Every so often, she even found herself comforting him, telling him to relax.

But just as she finished reassuring him, her expression changed, and she said, "I think my water just broke…"

Adrian immediately called for the doctors.

During labor, he waited anxiously outside the delivery room.

Time seemed to crawl by until, at last, the nurse came out with a bright smile on her face.

"Congratulations! The delivery went smoothly. You have a boy and a girl-twins!"

Adrian rushed inside to check on Anna.

When he saw her, he felt a pang of heartache. "You've worked so hard," he said softly.

Anna smiled at him. "It was all worth it."

She glanced at the two babies swaddled in blankets, then at Adrian, who was holding her. Her heart brimmed with happiness.

In that moment, she felt as though she could live in this bliss forever.
