Chapter 6 - A Kiss After Not Kissing For Days
"Are you feeling calm now?" he asked while we were having breakfast.
I was still in a bad mood and had an unkind expression on my face. He could ask whatever he wanted but I wouldn't say a word. I wasn't going to respond to him unless it was something important.
"It's not good not to respond to your husband's question, Lauren."
I looked at him sharply and continued eating the food on my plate. It was delicious but I didn't feel like eating it all.
"If you're not going to talk, I'll explain to you," he said.
"Don't!" I then replied before he explained something that was still lingering on my mind.
I still remembered their conversations that hurt my feelings to fall for him. It really hurt.
"Then talk to me if you don't want me to explain it all."
I gulped and it was true that I didn't want him to explain about the other day he hurt me. I thought it was the best thing for me not to know so he could keep it without telling me.
But, I already thought something that I needed him to make it true.
"What's my job here other than your wife?" I asked.
"You're the Luna here. Why?"
"Then I want to do my duty as the Luna here. I want to forget that you've hurt me by making me busy. Because you're not allowing me to work outside," I said, asking him to make myself busy.
I thought that might help me forget about his betrayal.
"Okay, but first thing first, I have to know that you are capable of the work as the Luna," he said, looking at me seriously.
"Mate and Luna are the same right? Why would you make sure first?"
"Yes, it’s the same. Because the Luna also should be able to take care of the whole pack, not just a small pack, Lauren. And you are a human, not a werewolf. You have no power like a werewolf does," he said, explaining to me.
I was quiet for a moment because I hadn't considered what the duties of a Luna were. I just thought that maybe being busy would distract me from my broken heart.
We were silent together until I sighed and got the question. "What's the first thing I have to do as the Luna?"
"You have to be capable of fighting against the enemies, and not just using your hands and weapons. You have to use the power of your mind," he replied while looking me in the eye.
"And?"
He sighed. "It's not actually the first thing. The main first is to make the Alpha calm down or something like that from the chaotic events."
His eyes looked like he was remembering something and suddenly his face looked serious.
"I mean, the Luna's power can control the Alpha's emotion and can calm the Alpha down when the Alpha is angry or something," he said again. "And sex, that's the most important for the Alpha."
I gasped and was nervous hearing his words. My face started to get hot and my hands were trembling.
"S–sex?" I said, stuttering.
He nodded his head and smirked at me. "The second most important is to give birth to the future alpha.”
I chuckled at his words like he was joking to make me nervous. I mean, he did but shit, this success made me forget that he hurt me.
"Don't be joking," I said to react to his last words.
"I'm not."
I was shocked and froze in my place. My mouth was gaped, my eyes were wide open and my mind went blank.
"Didn't you remember that you have to be pregnant with my offspring?"
He really made me remember that night we talked about having a baby. That I must have offspring from him.
"What? You don't want to? I could always force you to have a baby with me, Lauren. We already made love, why did you look surprised? Besides, I told you that's one of the Luna's jobs, you know.”
I finished breakfast early and looked at him after that. "This conversation doesn't mean to make me forget that you betrayed me, Ace."
"Lauren, I'm not betraying you and I tried to explain but you didn't want to hear it. Don't ever mention that word because I'm not," he defended himself.
He grabbed my wrist when I stood and brought me closer to him, to his lap. Our faces were so close and our breath could feel on our skin.
"I'm not, Lauren, and I swear to God that I will never do that to you."
I swallowed my saliva while looking at him this close. My heart was beating so fast and my hands were sweating. Whenever he told me that he didn't mean to hurt me, sometimes I wanted to believe it but it was hard since their conversation was spinning in my mind.
"You're always seducing me whenever I show you how you hurt me, Ace," I said. "I will not melt as you think."
His eyebrows shot up without him letting go of my hand. He then grinned and smiled like a playboy.
"Really? You think I hurt you but I'm not, but you also fall in love with me and you won't just melt? I don't think so, Lauren."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, this—"
He kissed me on my lips, surprising me and reflexively I kissed him back. It had been days since he and I hadn't kissed since that scene, and now it was like I really missed his lips on my lips.
He pushed his tongue into my mouth and I could feel him tasting every corner of my mouth.
"That's what I mean," he said while grinning and licking his lips. "You kissed me back. I'm your husband, Lauren. Your mate. You won't be angry at me for a long time.”
My mind was spinning and the butterflies in my stomach were dancing. Shit, I couldn't hold my feelings whenever he showed his side like this.
"I need some fresh air," I said while trying to let go of him. "Please," I looked at him pleading.
He was hesitating but then he released my hand and I got off from his lap.
When I walked out from him in a rush, suddenly I bumped into someone and I said sorry without looking at who he was.
