Chapter 589 Reconciled As Before

Chapter 589 Reconciled As Before

Chloe smiled slightly: "Come to the bed, and I'll tell you slowly."

"Stop kidding around. You can't even move by yourself right now. If I get up there... forget it, I'll just stay close to you like this for a while."

As I spoke, I kissed her while touching her chest.

"No, I really want you to come up, even if just to lie down for a bit."

"Be good, we'll talk about everything after you recover." I pinched her nose again: "Hurry up and tell me, what other dreams have you had about me?"

"It's strange, really. Given our relationship, if I dreamed about you, it should be the two of us making love. But every time I dream of you, I feel like I'm a small animal, and you're either a tiger or a lion with a strong scent guarding me. I can even sense we're not the same species, but I'm particularly attached to you, always hoping there's a small space for me in your world."

I reminded her: "Have you read any mythological legends?"

"I've read the novels, but I can't stand the TV adaptations."

"Have you ever felt that the things described in those legends actually happened? Maybe you were a fox, or one of the fox cubs in that litter, and I might have been the divine dog?"

Chloe shook her head: "Are you really so self-deprecating that you'd admit we're both descended from animals?"

"I'm just saying. By the way, you just said I'm like a king, but you're not the queen. Can you tell me, in your dream, did you see what the queen looked like?"

"Are you setting a trap for me?" Chloe wrapped her arms around my neck and warned: "I don't care how many women are around you, but you must promise me you'll never marry Grace!"

Before I could respond, Chloe pressed her forehead against mine and said: "You know what? Just now in my dream, the three of us met."

"What?"

"When you pulled me out of that black hole, you were holding me in your right arm and our child in your left. Our child had a bottle in his mouth, smiling, being carried away by a cloud."

"Really?"

"I asked you where our child was going, and you told me you'd already sent him to be reborn." I thought Chloe would conclude from this that I was some kind of deity, but instead she said: "We were such a happy family of three, but because of Grace—so Nolan, I must warn you, if you dare marry her in the future, I will definitely get revenge."

"How? Kill me or kill her?"

"Don't try to provoke me. I don't know right now, but when I'm angry, I'm capable of anything."

Just then, the caregiver on the cot turned over, startling me.

I was about to return to my bed when Chloe grabbed me and asked: "Are you that afraid of others knowing about us?"

What did she mean?

Our relationship wasn't exactly something to be proud of—did it need to be announced to the world?

I also realized that losing this child had hit Chloe too hard. She was becoming extreme—first wanting to stop me from being with Grace, and second, probably wanting to have another child with me. For this, she seemed willing to divorce Bob.

For her, what just happened felt like a near-death experience, and she seemed not to care about anything anymore.

I smiled and coaxed her until she finally calmed down. When she started getting drowsy, I returned to the other bed. Thinking it over carefully, I felt this situation couldn't be allowed to continue.

Even real deities probably have their limits. Take my child with Chloe—it could have grown up healthy, but somehow it miscarried and eventually became an infant spirit filled with resentment. Who could say for certain this wasn't heaven's punishment for me?

Paul had taught me the Desire Suppression Spell to control urges, and also the Reunion Charm to improve relationships.

The Reunion Charm was for when couples who were separated due to mutual disgust, even to the point of wanting divorce—once the charm was cast, they would reconcile.

Bob was indeed a scumbag, but I'd already cast the Desire Suppression Spell on him and used Chloe to exact revenge and punishment.

The problem seemed to have gone too far, so my child with Chloe also suffered the consequences.

If things continued this way, Grace might be affected too, so I decided to stop now and let Chloe and Bob reconcile.

I immediately formed the hand gestures and began silently reciting the Reunion Charm while facing Chloe.

The energy crystal within me gradually transformed into a purple mist that enveloped Chloe's entire body. She looked very peaceful, and in her sleep, the corners of her mouth turned up slightly, her face full of smiles.

This was my first time casting the Reunion Charm. I didn't know how effective it would be, but tomorrow when Bob came, I would cast the same spell on him. Everything would be left to fate.

Because I'd expended so much energy that night, I felt weak and slept until the doctor made rounds.

Before that, the caregiver had already woken up and brought water to the bedside. After Chloe brushed her teeth and washed her face, the caregiver wiped down her body.

Sabrina also came early in the morning with breakfast for three people. Regardless of what she thought of me, to protect her daughter, Sabrina seemed to tacitly accept my relationship with Chloe.

After I got up and washed in the bathroom, Bob also arrived at the ward before the doctor's rounds. I immediately cast the Reunion Charm on him too.

After examining her, the doctor felt Chloe's body had recovered and planned to give her two more days of IV treatment before performing surgery.

I don't know if it was the Reunion Charm working, but Bob's attitude toward Chloe was noticeably better, and Chloe's expression was no longer as cold as before. Their expressions seemed to infect each other, becoming quite friendly.

Jasper had fully recovered, but Bob still needed to take him to the infectious disease hospital for a checkup and handle the discharge procedures.

As he was preparing to leave, Bob said to me: "Nolan, you're exhausted. No matter what, come with me today. I'll take you back to school first."

Given how things had developed, I wasn't worried that Chloe would tell Bob about her resentment toward Grace, but I was a bit concerned she wouldn't want me to leave—last night she'd wanted me to sleep beside her!

Unexpectedly, Chloe said rather embarrassedly: "Yes, Nolan, you've really worked hard these past few days. Go back and rest first. If possible, go straight to class—don't let it affect your studies."
