Chapter 584 Two-Handed Preparation

Chapter 584 Two-Handed Preparation

At a time like this, is there any point in Paul lecturing me? As the saying goes, old people talk too much. No wonder the so-called earnest teachings from elders always annoy us young people. They don't care about the occasion, the timing, or what's urgent and what's not—they just seize every chance to lecture you.

But right now, I can't afford to make Paul angry. This is about my lifelong happiness!

"Paul, you're right, but what should I do now?"

"What can you do? You can only pray to God. If that so-called Byron can deal with the Infant Spirit, then pray every day!"

"But it sounds like you don't think he has the ability?"

"Like I said, only people like me who lack natural talent rely on some knowledge to play ghost tricks. Of course, some of them do understand a bit and might accidentally succeed in catching ghosts. But if the Infant Spirit really is your child, that guy is probably in trouble."

"Why?"

"An ordinary person's child is already powerful enough. You've practiced Internal Alchemy. If your son had grown up healthy, he might have become the next exorcist. Even if it was a girl, she could at least become a saint, right? If that Infant Spirit inherited your abilities, it'll be really hard for ordinary exorcists to deal with it."

No way! Do I really have to personally end my child's life a second time?

"So what should I do?"

"Stay nearby and watch how he performs the ritual. If it works, don't say anything. If it doesn't work, first use the Golden Light Sacred Spell to protect the mother. Then use the Confusion Sacred Spell to make the Infant Spirit lose its way. That way, it won't run around but will be confined to a small space. Next, you'll need to use the Sealing Sacred Spell to seal it, then use the Reincarnation Sacred Spell to deal with it. If it can be reincarnated, that's fine. If not, you'll have to use the Attack Sacred Spell to destroy it completely. If it really comes to that, your family line might end!"

Is this for real?

"Paul, will what you're saying actually work?"

"You really hit the nail on the head with that question. Whether it works or not, I honestly don't know. I only know the various methods. Because I'm not strong enough, I can't deal with ghosts, let alone an Infant Spirit. But you're different. You've mastered Internal Alchemy. If you can't deal with the Infant Spirit, there probably isn't a second person in the world who can."

Both Byron and Paul had explained clearly how powerful the Infant Spirit was. Paul had also given me specific methods. As for tonight's outcome, I could only leave it to fate.

Paul gave me one final warning: when it comes time for me to act, the child's mother must pray with a sincere and repentant heart, otherwise the resentment can't be resolved.

I asked one more question: "How will I know if it worked?"

"It's simple. When you start the exorcism ritual, put some milk in a baby bottle nearby. After you finish reciting the sacred spells, if the milk slowly decreases, it proves it's been reincarnated, and it left happily—drinking milk as it was reincarnated."

This made me feel a bit nervous. If I actually saw the milk slowly disappearing, wouldn't someone timid be scared to death?

It looked like I couldn't attend the student council meeting today. I quickly asked Cecil for leave, saying I really couldn't leave the hospital while taking care of Chloe.

Cecil had probably heard about the situation from the teachers. Some student council officers were even planning to visit Chloe at the hospital tomorrow. When I explained, he was very understanding and told me he'd send me the final decision through WhatsApp after the meeting.

At dinner time, Noah and Sabrina brought over a big pot of chicken soup. When Sabrina was about to feed it to Chloe herself, Chloe insisted I eat it instead, which made me extremely embarrassed.

Sabrina didn't say anything, but Noah scolded Chloe with a dark expression: "Stop this nonsense! Your mom made this specially for you!"

"Dad, I can't have greasy food or mushrooms. Nolan has been taking care of me for two days. He's young and needs good nutrition."

As she spoke, Chloe took the chicken soup from Sabrina and handed it to me. Right in front of her parents, she teased: "Hurry up and eat. Or do you need me to feed you?"

She was basically flirting with me in front of her parents. Noah's face looked terrible, while Sabrina seemed both surprised and worried. She even kept quietly looking me over, as if thinking her daughter had good taste and being involved with me wasn't too bad a deal.

Holding the bowl, I couldn't eat in front of Noah and Sabrina.

Sabrina immediately caught on and actually pulled Noah toward the door.

After they left, I shook my head at Chloe: "You went too far. You put your parents in an awkward position."

"It's fine," Chloe smiled sweetly. "They've heard rumors about Bob's affairs. They even warned me to be careful not to be fooled by him. I just wanted them to know their daughter isn't stupid—I have my own man I like."

I kept shaking my head without saying a word.

"Don't worry, I'm their own daughter. Forget a bowl of chicken soup—even if they saw us lying in bed together, they'd pretend not to see it!"

Even though she said that, I was still too young. Things that should remain unspoken were one thing, but now she'd basically told her parents outright that I had that kind of relationship with her. I really didn't know how to face her parents next.

At Chloe's urging, I ate every bit of the chicken and soup.

Soon Amelia arrived, carrying two plastic bags—one with dinner for her and me, the other with her toiletries.

She'd said yesterday that since she had no classes tomorrow, she'd planned to take the night shift tonight.

When she came in, Noah and Sabrina also walked in. Because we were doing an exorcism ritual tonight, I didn't want too many people to know that a family like Chloe's believed in such superstitious things, so I kept trying to get Amelia to leave.

Chloe didn't understand at first, but later got my meaning and also urged Amelia to go. Amelia stubbornly refused, insisting on taking over so I could rest.

With no other choice, I found a moment to call Amelia outside and told her about the ritual tonight, and also explained what Byron had said about the Infant Spirit.

Amelia was shocked and asked with wide eyes: "Is this real?"

"Would I lie to you about this? Don't go spreading it around. Also, Byron said the Infant Spirit is really powerful. What if we just get it off Chloe and it jumps onto you?"

Amelia screamed and jumped up: "Don't scare me! I'm leaving right now!"

With that, she didn't even take her toiletries, ran straight into the elevator, and left the hospital looking terrified.
