I sense something fishy about this.

Mr. Douglas kept staring at me like he needed more than my words. “You still haven't answered me..”

“I asked a question,” I uttered.

“I have a feeling this is more than just wanting my job,” I muttered to myself.

“Are you comfortable with him?” He suddenly spoke.

“Comfortable with who? What are you saying, Mr.Douglas? I'm confused…” I answered.

He looked left and right once again and tapped his feet on the floor repeatedly. 

“You are scaring me already. What are you talking about?” I spoke out aloud.

“Cmon, Sofia. Stop acting like you don't know what I want,” he suddenly blurted out.

I became startled at first. Did Mr. Douglas just call me by name? What is going on?

“You are a beautiful woman and you deserve to be treated nicely….Steven is only signing for the time being, girl,” his tone suddenly changed.

My eyes widened in shock. Are my ears hearing wrong?

“Are you okay?” I lashed out in anger.

But what I got in response shocked me even the more, “Oh, don't even do that, Sofia. I'm not your enemy here. I am only helping you secure your future. Do you really think you can survive this all because you are living in a mansion?”

“What do you think will happen after a year? Uhn?” he asked.

Come to think of it. What exactly is my fate after all of this? Does Steven really love me or am I still living under the contract?

Dang it! How could I even be thinking of love at this moment? I'm such a fool. Mr. Douglas is right. I'm just being used by Steven and once it's a year, I would be dumped!

Hell, they could even get rid of me and no one would question them. After all, they are one of the most powerful family in the city.

“I know you are thinking about it as well but let me just help you make things better. Just hand me your job secretly. I can make enough money for you and I through that,” he winked his eye.

“I could be your boyfriend whilst all of that happens and when Mr. Steven finally does his wicked intention of leaving you at the end of 12 months,” he uttered.

My mind traveled back and forth but I refused to yield. For all I know, this could just be a trap. A deadly one at that.

“So what do you say, Sofia? Will you be my baby?” He said, trying to caress my cheeks with his bare hands.

I moved back and frowned heavily at him. “Don't you dare?!” I lashed out angrily.

“Do you realize you could get in trouble for this? Or do you think I am so little in the brain that I can't think or choose for myself?” I said.

“Hahaha….” He laughed out hysterically. 

“I see…you are now pompous cause of the fat bank account that was handed to you! Have you forgotten I made it possible?” He boasted.

I smirked, “You made what possible?”

“Don't be an ingrate, baby girl. I made Steven consider you for the offer or have you forgotten I was the same person who interviewed you?!”

“I fucking put in a good word for you and I made sure you got everything you are enjoying right now..” he said in a loud tone.

All of a sudden, he didn't seem to care if anyone could hear us. At this point, I knew he was already agitated.

“Oh thank you but I can't do what you are asking of me. If you know what's good for you, I'd suggest you take your leave!” I said without holding back.

My heart skipped as I replied coldly. He snapped.

“Ahaha…..now you suddenly have the guts to talk back? Even after I just saved you from your wicked mother-in-law? Or you think that's all she will do? You really have no idea what that woman is capable of??” He said in a scary tone.

My heart jumped again and this time around, it was really evident.

That same moment, one of the bodyguards knocked before coming in,” Ma'am, your friend, Kiki, is here for you,” he said.

“Kiki is here?” I voiced out in excitement.

It was more like the best motivation I needed at that point. Kiki had always been the rescue in times like this.

I almost thought I had no one to defend or save me from Mr. Douglas's dominating character. 

“Please let her in,” I uttered.

“I'm sure you understand everything we discussed and you also know this has to stay between us…” he said.

In my head, it was a scream only if he could hear it. I just kept praying Kiki comes in before he leaves so I could signal to her. I was so sure she would understand without me having to say much.

“I don't know,” I answered with a shut eye.

He stood up and just in that same minute, he walked up to me and almost poked me in the eye, “Don’t think you can tell anyone about the discussion we just had cause I also have  implicating things to reveal also…” he threatened. 

“Uhn?” I replied.

“Oh yeah. I also have things that aren't really nice. And if these stuffs get to the public, you are so done for cause you will be driven to live in absolute shame..” he uttered without caution.

“What are you saying??” I questioned.

But before he could answer, Kiki entered and her dress alone was a major distraction.

I could see the look on Mr. Douglas's face as she walked in. He could hardly concentrate again and like always, she stole the room's attention with her sexually appealing dress.

“Best friend!!” She clamored, running over to give a tight hug.

“This is not the rich dude, right?” She blurted right in front of Mr. Douglas.

I shook my head in response……

“Oh, definitely can't be……he doesn't look anything like that….bodyguard?” She asked not minding if he could hear her out loud.

I tried signaling to her but she wouldn't just listen.

He stood up to take his leave and something mistakenly fell from his pocket.

“Oooh….”
