Chapter 191: Disgusting People

Chapter 191: Disgusting People

Ophelia remembered one night when she woke up and found William had quietly gotten up alone, typing on his phone. Later, she saw what he was actually doing - writing a suicide note.

At that moment, Ophelia thought, if even she couldn't keep William here, she had to give him hope. And that hope would be a child.

She still remembered the joy and anticipation on William's face when she last mentioned having a baby for him.

So Ophelia decided she had to get pregnant with this child. She would use the baby to motivate William, to stop him from giving up on his own life. Getting him to actively cooperate with treatment was the most important thing right now.

There would be a child in this world who shared his blood. For William, who had always been alone, this would be a huge comfort.

Freya didn't know these details. She just understood more about Ophelia and William's relationship. As Ophelia's friend, all she needed to do was give her full support.

Halfway through the meal, Ophelia went to the restroom. On her way out, she ran into someone in the hallway.

It was Benjamin. He was wearing a black suit, leaning against the wall. If it weren't for the overhead lights, he would have been almost invisible.

What's more, Benjamin was blocking Ophelia's path. Ophelia hesitated for a moment, but still walked forward. Just as she passed by him, Benjamin spoke up.

"Ophelia, William is paralyzed now. He's going to be disabled for life. I heard he wants to divorce you. Why won't you agree?"

Ophelia's expression changed instantly, and her tone turned harsh.

"You're the disabled one! Our marriage is none of your business."

If Benjamin hadn't once saved her, she would have slapped him already.

Benjamin showed no anger at being scolded.

"Ophelia, I know I was wrong before. Can you give me another chance? Let's start over?"

As Ophelia approached, she smelled alcohol on him. Benjamin was clearly drunk, otherwise he wouldn't be saying these things.

There was no point arguing with someone who was drunk. Ophelia didn't say a word and just walked away.

Just as Ophelia brushed past Benjamin, he suddenly grabbed her from behind. He whispered in her ear, his breath reeking of alcohol.

"Ophelia, don't go. You used to like me so much. Can't you look back at me again? William can't take care of you anymore. Please come back, give me another chance."

Benjamin's eyes were dazed. He had finally seen Emily's true colors, and now he regretted it and wanted to pursue Ophelia again.

He knew Ophelia was married to William, but didn't know how to win her back. William had become disabled from the car accident, so Ophelia couldn't possibly stay with him.

Benjamin felt he had another chance. Just as he was preparing to surprise Ophelia, he heard she was pregnant.

The news hit him hard.

He and Ophelia had been together for three years without having a child, but William and Ophelia hadn't been together long before she got pregnant!

Tonight, Benjamin was here for business, drinking heavily. He stepped outside for some fresh air and felt nauseous, which is why he came near the restroom.

While smoking in the hallway, he heard voices from the women's restroom.

"The floor inside is a bit slippery; someone just spilled water. Be careful when you go in, don't fall."

"Thanks for the warning. I'm just over a month pregnant, so I really need to be careful."

Benjamin knew that second voice all too well. He turned to look, and sure enough, it was Ophelia.

William had been in the hospital for a month, and Ophelia was exactly one month pregnant!

In Benjamin's view, William was humiliating Ophelia. He was already disabled, but still thinking about sex!

At the same time, he thought William was very calculating. Knowing his body wasn't working, afraid Ophelia would leave, he deliberately got her pregnant, wanting to use the child to tie her down. He was just dragging Ophelia down.

But Ophelia couldn't see through his schemes and still refused to divorce.

Under all this pressure, Benjamin couldn't hold back anymore. After she came out, he desperately tried to win her over.

"I've really changed. Whatever you want, I'll give you. I'll be with you every day. I won't look at other women anymore. When I inherit the White family, you'll be the only lady of the house. My mom won't give you a hard time anymore either."

Ophelia's body stiffened. For a moment, she didn't react to push him away.

Benjamin thought she was accepting him. His breathing got closer, falling on her neck. Ophelia knew what he wanted to do and immediately stepped on his toes. Taking advantage of his loosened grip, she quickly broke free.

At this point, she didn't care about anything anymore and slapped him across the face.

"Benjamin, wake up. I'm not one of those women you have on the side. Don't pretend with me. Emily would be happy to take you back."

Ophelia's eyes were full of disgust. Benjamin didn't feel much pain from the slap, but Ophelia's look made his heart hurt like needles were stabbing it.

"If you want to do something, go do it yourself. Don't use 'it's for your own good' as an excuse. You want to inherit the White family - that's your own selfish desire. You make it sound so nice, as if you'd give it to me once you take over the White family."

"As for your mom, you actually knew all along that she was making things hard for me. During those years of marriage, I thought you didn't know anything. Now I see you only understand pain when it happens to you. Stop pretending to be devoted. I really find you disgusting."

Ophelia already had a poor appetite from pregnancy, and Benjamin was putting on this performance in front of her. The fact that she didn't throw up in his face was already showing him respect.

Benjamin was at a loss for words. After a long pause, he said quietly, "I'm sorry."

Ophelia snorted coldly.

"Your apology means nothing now. If you really feel sorry for me, just stay out of my sight and stop causing trouble for my husband. That's how you can repay me."

With that, Ophelia ignored him, because there was no point in continuing this.

Seeing she was really leaving, Benjamin quickly spoke up, "Ophelia, the car accident wasn't an accident. Are you interested in working with me?"
