Worried About Timothy
Tony
Someone shifted against me and I opened my eyes. Tasha was laying half on me and I shifted a little to pull her close to me.
‘Mine,’ a weird voice said in my head.
I blinked in surprise. What in the hell was that?
‘My name is Tone. I’m your bear.’
Bear? What the hell? I didn't have a bear.
‘They marked us and I woke up.’
I looked down at her. ‘They? What do you mean they?’
‘Our woman and her mate. He’s our mate now, too.’
I glanced around the room to see Jamie, Sebastian and Raul curled up together on the floor asleep and Carson curled up around Lee who was staring at him in awe. He looked around the room and met my eyes. He pointed at Carson and mouthed, ‘Do you see this?’ I nodded, grinning. The doorbell rang and Tasha jumped up, stumbling as she looked around frantically. I steadied her. She broke into a huge smile and threw herself into my arms.
“You’re awake.”
“OSPREY’S HOME!,” Mona called up the stairs.
Falcon shifted back and quickly put boxers on and rushed out of the room. Tasha giggled.
“Lee!”
She embraced him tightly before smiling around at all of us. “You guys have made me so happy. I was so worried.”
Lee glared at her. “You want to tell me why I have a bear? And better yet, why didn't I know that we were doing this?”
She sighed. “I didn’t want you to be too afraid to do this.”
He sighed. “I would have done it.”
She looked up at him and her bottom lip trembled. “I’m sorry. Will you forgive me?”
“I guess. Why is Tim hooked up to a machine?”
Her face fell and she moved back to the bed with a sad look on her face to run her fingers through his hair.
“He’s dying. Did you know?”
“WHAT?!,” Lee and I both said at the same time.
She nodded. “Jamie knew. Falcon knows.”
“I know. Falcon told me,” Raul said.
“He only told me, baby,” Jamie said.
She sighed and let her head drop until her chin was resting on her chest. “I think I’m ready. Just tell me.”
Jamie walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. He took her hand and put it on Timothy’s chest over his heart.
“Lung cancer.”
A tear dropped off her face and she sniffled. “He is going to make it,” she said, her voice trembling.
“He is.”
Raul cleared his throat. “Tasha, why don’t we go meet my mother for a few hours? Get out of the house?”
“Your mother?”
He gave a nervous laugh. “You guys have missed a lot.”
“Obviously. Can I go with you?,” I asked.
“Yes! I told her about all of you. She stayed in town last night.”
Tasha ran her fingers over Timothy’s hair again. “Alright, but I’m not making any promises on how long I will be staying. I don’t want to leave his side.”
He nodded. “I get it. Get dressed and we’ll go.”
We all hurried to get dressed while Tasha moved a lot more slowly, watching him. Jamie smiled at us.
“My bear’s name is Jeb. Seb’s is Secour. Raul is Ramdon. How about yours?”
“Tone.”
“Lamar?”
I looked at him. “You’re not sure?”
“This is weird. I went to sleep as a human.”
I laughed as relief flooded me knowing that I wasn’t the only one that felt that way. Tasha smiled sadly.
“You’ll get used to it.”
She walked over to kiss Timothy’s lips. “I love you, handsome face. I’ll be back soon.”
Falcon walked in with Osprey who immediately climbed on the bed to press against Timothy’s side. She sighed.
“Thank you for staying with him. We’ll be back soon.”
He kissed her softly. “I’ll link if I need you.”
She touched his cheek. “Thank you.”
Raul took her hand and led us out of the room. We all stood nervously on the porch of his home while he looked for his keys. The door was pulled open before he could and a woman stood there, beaming at us. She reached for Tasha and we all growled and she dropped her hands.
“You must be Tasha. I have heard so much about you.”
She smiled back at the woman. “You must be Valerie. Falcon and Raul have told me about you, too.”
She laughed and stepped back. “The kids are about to have lunch. Would you like to join us? I’m making grilled cheese.”
Tasha’s eyes lit up. “Yes! I would love to. I’m starving.”
We all followed her to the kitchen and sat around. I nervously eyed the other four people in the room who were watching us curiously. Valerie smiled at us.
“This is my husband Victor and our children, Jeremy and Morgan. This is my mother, Alice.”
Raul kissed Tasha’s hand. “This is Tasha,” he said proudly. “Lee, Jamie, Sebastian and Tony,” he said, smiling widely at us with his eyes full of love.
I relaxed. I wasn’t sure how he was going to introduce us but the level of emotions he displayed made me happy. I waved.
“Hi.”
We sat at the table with them and the kids started asking us a million questions. We spent hours answering all of their questions from living as bears to being in a relationship with multiple people. Valerie encouraged us to answer truthfully. As the hours dragged on, Tasha got quieter and quieter until she had stopped talking completely. I stood up and moved to stand behind her.
“I do apologize for cutting this short but I am going to take Tasha home. She is very tired.” I smiled around at our other mates. “Feel free to stay and visit. Come on, love.”
I scooped her up and walked out of the room. I heard the others immediately excuse themselves to follow us. She wrapped her arm around my neck and leaned against my chest.
“Thank you.”
“There will be time to visit later. Besides, you’re not the only one worried about him.”
She sighed. “I know.”
I took her upstairs and laid her on the bed. She moved to spoon Osprey and took Timothy’s hand. I glanced at Carson who was watching him from the floor right beside the bed. I moved to sit next to him and hesitantly put my hand on his shoulder.
“Thank you for watching over him.”
He shifted so that he could lay his head on my lap but still watch Timothy. I ran my hand over his back and his eyes drifted shut. I did it again and Tone almost purred in my head. Well, fuck. I was in some trouble.
