Chapter 31 Chapter Thirty -One

Chapter 31 Chapter Thirty -One
Once the car is completely out of view I go back inside, returning to the table I always sit at. I watch all the men and women dancing, drinking, laughing and just having fun. Every night, several of the women that come to this club throw themselves at me. They offer me a good time, and I'm sure some of them could actually give me a good time.

None of those women are what I want though. I want Makenzie, I have waited a very long time to find her and I will not let her slip away. Even if that means I have to play a little dirty to get what I want.

Reggie my personal security gaurd and club bouncer walks over and takes a seat next to me, smirking. "So, this is the girl you have been looking for, for the past few years?" He asks, chuckling a little.

"So what if she is?" I ask, answering a question with a question.

Reggie laughs, throwing his hands up in mock surrender. "Wow, someone is defensive. You must really like this girl." He says, teasingly.

"Of course I like her. Do you think I would have hired all those damn expensive ass private investigators if I didn't like her?" I ask, feeling myself getting irritated.

I'm not irritated at Reggie, I know he is just messing around. I am more irritated with myself than anything. I need to figure out a way to gain Makenzie's trust quickly before she tries to disappear again or something. I can't let her slip away.

Reggie nods his head, that same dumb smirk plastered on his face. "What are you going to do about the boyfriend?"

I sigh loudly, taking a sip of the fresh drink my waitress brought me. "I haven't figured that part out yet." I say, looking over at him.

"Do you want me to take care of him for you boss?" Reggie asks.

I know exactly what he means by take care of him for me. There are a few reasons why he is my personal security guard, going to prison for murder is just one of them. I needed someone that wasn't afraid to do anything that may be required to protect me. Now he has become one of my best friends, not just my employee. I guess you could say he is my right hand man. Always there for anything I need.

"I do, but not in the way you are thinking." I say, giving him a pointed look.

Reggie smirks. "Why are you always trying to ruin my fun?"

I shake my head laughing. "I want her to be mine. I don't want her to hate me and never want to see me again if she found out."

"She won't find out boss, that's why I'm the best." He says, smiling proudly.

I smirk. "I don't think the best would have ended up in prison."

"Fuck. You." Reggie says, looking at me with narrowed eyes. "You and I both know why I got caught and it wasn't because of me."

I laugh and pat him on the back. "Oh trust me, I know."

Reggie shakes his head. "So, what did you have in mind then?" He asks, obviously referring to the boyfriend as he calls him.

I don't think Brad is really her boyfriend though. I know if she was mine, I wouldn't be leaving her with some man she doesn't know at a club she's only been to a couple of times. I'm sure they are just close friends, at least I hope they are. I know no matter what we do it's going to hurt her. I just need to be the one she comes running to when she has no where else to turn.

I take another sip of my drink and look at Reggie. "I want you to make him disappear, but not yet. I will tell you when it is the right time."

Reggie nods his head, his face turning cold. He is always like this when we talk about work. I think it's his way of distancing himself from what he is going to do or has already done. "Just give me the signal, I know where they are staying. I will only need thirty minutes alone with him. Then she will be all yours, no one else will be standing in the way." He says, looking out at the crowd of people.

I nod and down the rest of my drink. I should feel guilty for even thinking about making someone disappear, but I don't and I probably never will. That is not the kind of world I was raised in. The world I grew up in was cold, void of emotions and there was absolutely no room for guilt. You just did what needed to be done. No questions asked, that's one of the main reasons I got out of there as quickly as I could.

Some bad habits are hard to break though and the first time I saw her six long years ago I knew I had to have her. I have waited long enough, nothing and no one will stand in my way now.

"I'll be in my office if you need me." I say as I stand up, walking towards the back of the club. I leave Reggie sitting there watching the crowd. He knows what to do and how to handle himself. Several different obviously drunk girls try to get me to dance with them, but I ignore them, going straight to my office.

I can only handle being around this many people for so long before I need a break. Flopping back in my office chair I take a deep breath, looking at the same folder I have looked at every night for the past five and a half years. Soon, I won't need this folder filled with pictures and any information we could find about Makenzie anymore.

"Makenzie." I say, to myself, shaking my head. I prefer Claire, it fits her. Maybe someday she will go back to her actual name. One day when she knows she is safe with me.
