Chapter 74

Chapter 74
Sienna's pov

Elena’s barely contained laughter made me frown.

She didn't leave, and I didn't move.

"What else do you know?" I cut off her laughter sharply. "And who told you all this?"

I knew she might not answer, and I didn't expect her to.

It was a test.

The fake pregnancy involved a lot, and she definitely knew more than just that.

Elena stopped laughing and shook her head repeatedly. "I'm not telling you. Sienna, we have plenty of time."

With that, she stood up to leave, but I called out to her again. "What did you say to my mother?"

Elena paused, not turning around.

Just from her voice, I could sense the malice and cruelty in her heart.

"Nothing much, just the facts." Her sweet voice floated over. "I told her what you went through after she fell into a coma, how your life was after marrying into the Blackwood family, how you sacrificed yourself for Harrison to pay for her treatment... if she had died in that car accident, you wouldn't be suffering because of her now. All of it is true, Sienna. You should thank me for telling her."

Her sweet, innocent voice, harmless expression, and regretful tone made her words seem ordinary, but each one was a dagger to Nora, the final straw that broke her.

"Elena, how does it feel to have blood on your hands?" I held back, barely stopping myself from throwing my drink in her face. "Aren't you afraid your son Adrian will find out?"

Killing someone emotionally was just as cruel.

Elena tilted her head slightly, her expression suddenly innocent. "I didn't do anything. I just told her about your situation. She asked me. I'm leaving now, Sienna. Be careful on your way back. Your child is your only card left."

My heart raced, and I struggled to breathe, gripping the table to stand up. My head throbbed, and I felt dizzy.

Her figure had already disappeared from sight. I shakily took out my phone to call a cab, but after a few steps, my ankle gave out, and I fell uncontrollably.

There was nothing nearby to hold onto. I tried to brace myself with my hands, but I still hit the cold ground hard.

It didn't hurt much, but my abdomen felt strange, quickly turning into a sharp pain.

I didn't pass out, but I couldn't get up either.

"Ms. Price! You're bleeding."

I looked up to see Jess running towards me, panicked and helpless.

I suddenly felt calm, like still water. "It's okay. Please call an ambulance."

I felt my strength draining away. I was so tired, but not sad.

The baby was probably lost. Why did I insist on meeting Elena?

"You deserve it." Harrison's mocking voice echoed in my mind. I closed my eyes slowly, a smile tugging at my lips.

I was almost curious about his reaction to the news.

'Baby, I'm sorry. I hope you are born into a happy family next time.' I thought.

In the ambulance, the doctor told me the baby couldn't be saved.

After the surgery, I woke up to find many people around my bed.

Luna and the Vane siblings were there, along with Jess.

"You're finally awake, are you feeling any discomfort?"

My brain was a bit slow to react. I shook my head, soon feeling the strangeness in my body.

Memories before I passed out flooded back. I stared blankly at the white ceiling.

I had always talked about wanting to miscarry, but now that the baby was really gone, I felt even more sorrow.

What kind of mother didn't love her child?

"The doctor said your body was too weak. Even if you hadn't fallen, you would have miscarried from overexertion." Luna comforted me softly. "Rest well. You need to recover to do what you want."

I moved my lips, my mouth dry and cracked. Luna Reed helped me sit up. I was the only patient in the ward.

"Does Grandma know?" I asked.

Agnes had just started to get better. I didn't want her to be upset again.

"Not yet, but Sienna, I think you should tell her yourself. It's better than her hearing it from someone else."

That made sense.

Elena was too good at provoking people.

After a moment, I had Luna help me lean against the headboard.

"For now, don't think about anything. Leave everything to us." Julian seemed to know I wanted to ask something. He spoke first, gently ruffling my hair. "While you're in the hospital, don't get angry. It's bad for you."

His touch reached a soft spot in my heart. I looked at him instinctively. His gaze was as gentle as ever, but there were dark circles under his eyes.

Was it because of me?

Vanya looked at me worriedly and couldn't help but say, "Oh, Sienna, don't push Julian away. He dropped everything to come here when he heard about your surgery. He stayed with you all night... Ouch! Julian!"

Julian lightly tapped her forehead. "Go downstairs and see if Martha has arrived."

I was stunned into silence.

How many times had I doubted Julian , spoken harshly to him, accused him of using me and being insincere? Why would he go to such lengths?

"Sienna, Ms. Vane is right. Unlike Harrison, who is abroad while you miscarry." Luna stopped herself quickly.

"What? What's he doing abroad?" Her hesitation piqued my curiosity.

What could make Luna so upset... Could Harrison have taken Elena with him?

That wouldn't be surprising.

Seeing their reluctance to speak, I frowned and continued. "Don't worry. Whatever he does has nothing to do with me anymore."

My heart still ached for him sometimes, but with time, it would pass.

Luna hesitated for a while before speaking. "I don't know what he's doing. Alexander sent me a photo of Harrison... watching the sunrise with a woman. They were very close."

A woman? Not Elena?

"Let me see the photo."

I had never thought of Harrison as a womanizer.

Luna handed me her phone with the picture.

The background was a sunrise. The man was indeed Harrison, but the woman... She had her back to the camera, making it hard to identify her.

But her figure... It did resemble Elena's... or even mine.

"A substitute can never replace the original." Elena's words echoed in my mind, bringing a familiar suffocating feeling.

"Sienna! Stop thinking about it." Luna snatched the phone back, anxiously urging. "He's just a bad man. Why take it seriously? I shouldn't have shown you!"

"I'm fine, really." But my voice trembled.

Which of us was the substitute?

Now, I had miscarried and was in the hospital, while Harrison had a new lover abroad.

Ridiculous.

If so, why did he insist I keep the baby?

I lost the baby, and he wouldn't care at all.

What was I hoping for?
