Chapter 167

Chapter 167
Sienna's pov

Milo wasn't directly involved in our relationship; he can never truly understand it, let alone judge it.

"I'm just saying what I think. Are you still ready to give up everything for love now?"

Milo flipped through the calendar. "I'll give you one more month to rest. After that, training starts. If you don't want to do it, you can leave. Whether you want to find Theo or go back home, it's up to you. Now, get some rest."

He seemed to say a lot, yet it felt like he said nothing at all.

Anyway, I had a month to think things over.

While resting my body, I needed to carefully consider my future plans.

That night, Eleanor slept in the same bed as me.

"Honestly, I kind of want to stay here. I wonder if Mr. Elias Moretti would agree."

I was a bit surprised. "What about the research institute? Is it okay for you to be away?"

"The institute's running smoothly now. Even if I'm not there, it can operate just fine. There are plenty of key personnel, and many things don't necessarily need me."

Eleanor turned over and lay on her stomach, looking up at me. "Besides, I think Mr. Elias Moretti would agree. After all, Ms. Josephine Moretti is currently missing, and I might be able to help find her while also looking after you."

I lay on my side, feeling drowsy after days of travel, but my mind was still racing.

"Missing? I thought Milo knew where she was. He always had this annoyed expression, like someone owed him a fortune."

Since I met Milo, he hadn't said a single kind word about her. Even when he spoke, it was in a commanding tone.

I thought he knew everything.

"Impossible. If Milo knew where she was, he would at least tell his family to ease their worries."

I didn't respond.

Milo had many secrets, ones even Theo might not fully know.

But staying here long enough, I would eventually find out.

Later, I could vaguely hear Eleanor talking, but I couldn't make out the words. I drifted into a dream.

I still didn't sleep well that night.

I dreamt of a man.

He stood at a distance, watching me, not moving an inch closer.

I glanced at him once and dared not look again.

He made my heart ache, even though his appearance was blurry.

"Will you always remember me?" he suddenly spoke, his voice sounding as if it were right next to my ear, startling me into looking up.

He was still far away, and getting farther. Soon, I wouldn't be able to see him.

"Who are you?" I ran forward instinctively, feeling as if my heart was being hollowed out.

His voice was familiar, like Harrison 's, yet also like Julian's.

How could these two be similar in any way?

"You can't forget me."

The voice grew ethereal and distant, echoing hauntingly, beautiful yet terrifying.

The echo gradually faded, the last bit sounding like...

"Forget me."

When I opened my eyes, the memory of the dream quickly dissipated. I couldn't even remember the man's voice, but the heavy feeling in my heart remained, suffocating me.

The only man who could leave such a deep impression on me was Harrison .

So the man in my dream must have been him.

After docking, Milo didn't give me any electronic devices, so I had no idea what was happening back home.

Eleanor was on the balcony, talking on the phone with her back to me.

Listening closely, I could make out her words.

"Mr. Moretti, are you agreeing?"

She sounded super happy.

The next second, her tone turned sour.

"Why Alexander? There are so many great people at the institute. I can't stand him."

The call didn't last long. She hung up and came back inside.

Seeing I was awake, Eleanor muttered, "Mr. Moretti agreed to let me stay in Astoria with you, but he wants Alexander to temporarily take over the institute. Why does it have to be him?"

"Because he's the best candidate to take over the institute," I said casually. "Putting personal grudges aside, he's actually a good fit."

"He's a jerk!"

I hesitated to ask about Harrison .

It had been over half a month since my fake death. How had he been?

I hope he was miserable. That would make me feel better.

Eleanor seemed to read my thoughts and sneered, "You're still thinking about Harrison , huh? Don't bother. Kaia is his wife now, and they're very much in love."

I shivered, trying to keep my voice natural. "I'm not thinking about him. I know about their wedding."

Remembering that day still sent chills down my spine.

"He doesn't need you," Eleanor said with a knowing smile. "He's doing just fine without you. You're not as important as he claimed. Are you okay with that now?"

I wondered, "What if I'm not okay? It's over between us."

Revenge? It was pointless and a waste of time.

"Sienna ," she said, sitting beside me, looking serious. "Stop thinking about him. Forget him."

I nodded calmly, but remembered the words from my dream.

"Don't forget me."

Even after we parted, Harrison still haunted me. And I hadn't let myself off the hook either.

A month passed quickly. My body had fully recovered, and I had been trying to strengthen it every day.

Milo somehow got various strange medicines for me to drink. Eleanor, being cautious, insisted on checking them first to ensure they were safe before letting me drink them. Milo didn't stop her.

He was used to Eleanor's constant vigilance.

Knowing she would stay long-term, he even opened a lab for her.

That's when I realized Milo seemed to have everything.

He had too many mysteries. Though curious, I learned not to ask.

Time would tell, and I would eventually find out.

Maybe it was the special medicine, but my physical condition improved significantly compared to when I first arrived.

Eleanor explained the effects of the medicine, saying it could enhance physical strength, boost metabolism, and fight fatigue. As for side effects, she hadn't found any yet.

I didn't believe there was a medicine without side effects.

As agreed, training was about to start. Milo suggested Eleanor and I go out for a walk, as we might not get the chance to relax for a month once the training begins.

"You're not coming with us?"

After a month, my relationship with Milo had softened considerably. I realized he was probably a soft-hearted person with a tough exterior.

"Nothing worth seeing."

He went upstairs after saying that.

I muttered to myself and went out with Eleanor.

"By the way, I've been more tired this week than last, and I don't have much appetite. Is it because of the medicine?"
