Chapter 165
Sienna's pov
The barrel of the gun was pointed at my head, but I didn't feel the slightest bit threatened.
The Moretti family had been so kind to me that I felt completely at ease with Milo, even though we barely knew each other.
But his actions were slowly shattering my initial impression of him.
He was capable of hurting me too.
"Yeah, I'm way out of my league. The Price family is just a small clan, nowhere near the level of the Moretti family. It's only natural that I'm not as good as my birth mother, right?"
My confrontation with Milo quickly spiraled out of control.
I looked out the window; the color of the sea was deeper than I had imagined.
The sea and the sky both symbolized freedom, seemingly calm and windless, yet danger was always lurking.
I had escaped from Harrison , and I was free, but I couldn't handle any danger.
"If you want me dead, I can't resist. But would you really kill your niece?"
The Moretti family had been good to me, but I had only been with them for less than a month. What kind of familial bond could there be?
Milo was probably the same.
I wasn't afraid. "If you wanted me dead, you wouldn't have gone through all this trouble to save me, right?"
He let out a light snort and then pointed the gun out the window.
A loud bang followed, and I instinctively covered my ears.
The smell of gunpowder filled my nose, reminding me that the shot just now could have killed me.
"After spending so much time with the Blackwood family, you've only learned how to talk." Milo unloaded the bullet and showed it to me. "Remember this, this is what you need to hold in your hand."
"This world doesn't play by the rules. Weapons and violence are the most direct ways to solve problems."
The bullet flew out, but it felt like it hit my heart.
There were hurried footsteps outside, and the door was knocked on. Theo and the others must have heard the gunshot and were worried.
"Sienna , Milo, what happened? Are you guys okay?"
I was the first to look away and opened the door.
Eleanor gasped, "Why are you up?! Lie down, getting shot is no joke."
"I'm really fine now, see? I'm standing just fine."
Looking back, I saw Theo had already walked over to Milo, hesitating to speak, but he just patted Milo's shoulder.
Even without saying a word, they understood each other.
"Get ready, we'll be docking in about two hours. Don't fire any more shots around here, it'll attract unnecessary trouble."
Theo called Milo to leave, and only then did Eleanor dare to complain, "That guy is so weird, like he's got some psychological trauma."
I was puzzled, "Why do you say that?"
"Why else would he wear a mask all the time? I asked Theo, and he said it's not because of disfigurement, but he didn't tell me the real reason."
Milo's actions towards me earlier were indeed not normal.
"When I was staying at the Moretti Villa, everyone said he was missing, but Theo seemed to have kept in touch with him."
Eleanor's eyes widened in surprise.
After a moment of silence, she shook her head, "Mr. Moretti never mentioned him to me, and I didn't ask. It sounds complicated, but I always knew about Josephine's disappearance."
And she always knew about the subtle connection between Harrison and the Moretti family.
"Maybe there's a reason behind it."
I stretched my limbs, which hadn't moved much in a while. "Let's pack up, we're about to dock."
For the first time in a long while, I felt a sense of anticipation for the future.
After some hustle and bustle, all the luggage was packed, and the pain in my chest had lessened significantly.
This was probably the magic of the bullet Milo designed.
Eleanor listened to my description, completely baffled, but I did feel much better after moving around a bit.
The ship finally docked.
Theo wasn't coming with us.
Before we parted, he said a lot to me and handed me the documents he had prepared for me.
"This place isn't like home. The security here isn't as good, so you need to learn to protect yourself."
It felt more like advice from an elder to a younger person.
I was even more confused, "Mr. Moretti, this isn't what we initially agreed on, is it?"
What did it mean to hand me over to Milo now?
Theo smiled faintly, "No, it's not. If you stay under my wing as an intern, Harrison will get suspicious."
I glanced in Milo's direction.
The metal mask reflected a cold light, making his eyes look even sCatherine.
At that moment, men dressed as bodyguards were approaching him one after another, probably his subordinates.
"You'll stay with Fang Ming for a while. When the time is right, I'll find a way to make you famous. You can achieve everything you want."
Even now, I still felt confused.
"Can I contact you? Or can I go find Luna?"
After Eleanor left, the only people I was close to here were them.
"Better not. Harrison will definitely be watching her every move. Wait until you can stand up to Harrison , then you can find her."
Otherwise, it would only drag her down.
"I understand."
In moments of weakness, it was wise to stay hidden.
Theo gave me some instructions about Milo, but I could only remember the gist of it.
No amount of explanation could compare to experiencing it myself.
Then, I got into the car Milo had arranged, along with Eleanor.
The driver glanced at us warily and asked uncertainly, "Mr. Moretti, are we heading back?"
"To Serenity Bay Villa ."
Milo had another identity in Astoria.
According to Theo, he had considerable influence in Astoria, with no apparent connection to the Moretti family.
Here, I didn't need to consider myself part of the Moretti family, or it would bring trouble.
This was part of the real reason Milo wore a mask all the time.
I held onto Eleanor's arm, planning to ask Milo for clarification once we reached our destination.
The car kept moving forward, and the surroundings became more and more remote. By the time we arrived, it was already evening.
There was only this one house around.
Milo led us inside.
I realized then that I had underestimated Milo.
Calling it a house was an understatement; it was more like a training base.
"Who exactly are you?"
I couldn't hold back any longer and asked bluntly, "Why do you want me to follow you?"
I had never seen a training base in real life, but I had seen them on TV.
I could imagine what I would go through here.
"To help you improve."
Milo walked over to a punching bag and quickly threw a punch, "I told you, violence is the most direct way to solve problems."
