Chapter 128
Sienna's pov
I never thought that he'd come back so early in the morning?
Right now, I had no clue how to handle him.
Harrison must know I went out last night. If he checked the security footage, he'd know I went to the Blackwood Group.
There's no way to hide it.
"Mr. Blackwood."
Martha lowered her head and stepped aside.
Harrison waved his hand, signaling her to leave.
I didn't want to be alone in a room with him.
"You should go out too. I need to change clothes; I have to go out later."
I'd rather be with Luna sooner.
"Change for what? I haven't seen it yet."
Seen it?
I looked at myself in the mirror again, inexplicably smiling as I asked, "So, how do I compare to Kaia?"
Harrison walked behind me, seemingly surprised by my question. "Of course, you're more beautiful. Besides, you don't need to compare yourself to her."
His large hand rested on my shoulder.
Today, his hand was cold.
I instinctively covered his hand with mine, feeling his body tense slightly.
The back of his hand was even colder than his palm.
I almost wanted to ask what he did last night.
If he had stayed in the office all day, his hand wouldn't be this cold.
But the words that came out were sarcastic.
"Let me rephrase. Do I look like her?"
From the mirror, I saw the astonishment in Harrison 's eyes.
I smiled even more. "The first time I saw Kaia, she looked familiar. It wasn't until I stared at myself in the mirror for a long time that I realized she looks a bit like me. Harrison , is this a coincidence?"
Harrison , I'd given you many chances, though not many more.
Who was real and who was fake?
Harrison also turned to the mirror. His fingers seemed to want to touch my chin but then withdrew.
I could feel the coldness of his fingertips.
"There's a slight resemblance, yes, but only around the eyes," he said with a helpless smile. "Do you think I see her as your substitute?"
"What do you think?" I couldn't muster a smile. "It's not just a coincidence that we look alike, and she clearly has an agenda with you."
Harrison kissed the ends of my hair. "I'm glad you still care about me."
"I'm not in the mood for jokes."
His kiss did nothing to comfort me.
Harrison calmly explained, "I'm not joking. Remember what I told you? She deliberately approached me. There are things I need to investigate. I don't know what you've heard, but you need to remember, I only love you, will only marry you, and will only be with you."
His tone turned suggestive at the end, and I pushed him away in shock.
"Why are you saying this so early in the morning? Did you come back just to tell me this?"
But the dress's long hem tripped me as I took a few quick steps, and I fell back into Harrison 's arms.
I heard his amused chuckle above my head.
"I've been busy with family matters and barely had time. I was worried you'd overthink, so I came back to see you. It seems I made the right choice."
It was as if everything he did was for me, making me feel as thoughhe genuinely cared.
I always fell into the gentle traps he had laid.
"If you need anything, call me directly. If you want to see me, call ahead, and I'll send someone to pick you up, or have Zach come with you. It's not safe to go out alone at night; I'll worry."
Harrison 's solid embrace behind me was so warm. I took a deep breath and turned to bury myself in his chest.
"Okay."
He knew everything but didn't call me out on it.
If he were insincere, he wouldn't bother explaining things to me.
I would trust him one more time.
Since I had stepped on the dress, Harrison had me change out of it and send it for cleaning before he left again.
Martha smiled with relief, her eyes glistening with tears. "Mrs. Blackwood, I told you, Mr. Blackwood cares about you. You're the only one in his heart."
I smiled back. "Martha, why do I feel like you're more excited than I am? This isn't some grand romantic gesture; it's what a husband should do, right?"
Martha's excitement was understandable.
For the past four years, Harrison was rarely home. If it weren't for family matters, he wouldn't come back at all.
Now, just to prevent me from overthinking, he came back to explain whenever he had a moment.
He had changed a lot.
"Mrs. Blackwood..." Martha hesitated, then smiled and shook her head. "Never mind. It's good you don't remember the past. The future will only get better."
Really? If things could truly get better... that would be wonderful.
But that was impossible.
Kaia was still around, and I hadn't avenged Elena yet.
This seemingly mending relationship was still precarious.
After lunch, I told Luna I was leaving early.
She had already booked a private room and told me the location so I could go ahead.
Coincidentally, the hotel was right across from the bar where Harrison and I first met.
Luna couldn't have done this on purpose, could she?
Luna hadn't arrived yet, and I wasn't in a hurry to go in. I stood outside the hotel, staring at the bar.
The night Harrison and I got together... which hotel was it?
There were many hotels near the bar, and they all looked similar.
I crossed the street to stand in front of the bar.
It was half an hour before three in the afternoon, and the bar was open but not yet operating.
"Ms. Price, what a coincidence."
That voice, that address... I was sure Kaia did it on purpose.
I pretended not to hear and started to leave, but Kaia blocked my way.
"Why so petty, Ms. Price? It's just a title. Now that you're not with Mr. Blackwood, calling you Mrs. Blackwood might bring you trouble. There are plenty of people in Regal City looking to cause trouble for Mr. Blackwood, don't you think?"
Today's Kaia was completely different from the last two times we met.
"Mind your own business." I gave her a cold glance. "Since you're a renowned expert in the mental field, you shouldn't make such basic etiquette mistakes. I won't say more, Kaia, take care of yourself."
I turned to head back across the street.
"You haven't lost your memory," she suddenly said. "I can tell. Such little tricks don't fool me, and I've already told Mr. Blackwood. He keeps you around out of pity."
It was indeed hard to pretend to be sick in front of Kaia.
"Do you think I'll believe you?" I didn't argue. "Our matters are none of your business."
But I knew my trust in Harrison was already fragile.
Still, compared to Kaia, I'd choose to believe Harrison .
"An outsider? Who's the real outsider? Who knows nothing about the current situation?" Kaia said calmly, smirking. "Sienna , how much do you know about Harrison ? How much do you know about the Blackwood family?"
I couldn't answer.
