Chapter 125
Sienna's pov
Harrison seemed completely uninterested in Zach's brief comments, and his kisses only grew more passionate, making it increasingly difficult for me to stay clear-headed.
Then I heard Zach say, "I think the Reed family's daughter is quite a catch, beautiful and strong-willed. I heard she isn’t engaged yet. I should make a move."
Reed Luna!
I stiffened and turned in disbelief. For some reason, Harrison also stopped and looked at Zach with me.
"Why'd you both stop? Do you know the Reed family's daughter?" Zach asked, smirking.
"Sienna , why are you looking at me like that? Is it a problem if I want to find a date?"
I wanted to warn him to stay away from Luna, but doing so would surely raise Harrison 's suspicion.
No. Given my reaction just now, Harrison might already be suspicious.
I leaned into Harrison 's shoulder, trying to appear calm. "Finding a date is fine, but the way you talk about it sounds too casual. That Reed family girl is rather unfortunate."
I wasn't sure whether Zach was just testing me or if he was serious, but I distinctly remembered that he had a girlfriend two months ago. Could he have already moved on?
Given how unserious he usually was, I was genuinely worried he might pursue Luna.
Zach raised an eyebrow at my comment. "Unfortunate? Sienna , do you have some misunderstanding about me? I might seem a bit flirtatious, but I always treat my girlfriends well. You can look into it if you don't believe me."
I pressed my forehead against Harrison 's shoulder, speechless.
"Stay out of the Reed family girl's business," Harrison said in a low voice. "Unless you want trouble, pretend you never heard me say anything."
"Doesn't Alexander already have a fiancée? Why is he so concerned?"
I patted Harrison 's shoulder and ignoring Zach's presence, said in a normal voice, "I don't want to hear him talk about this. I'm going back to my room."
If I listened any longer, I was afraid I might lose my temper and curse him out.
Luna was already unfortunate enough. Why did Zach have to get involved?
Just because she's my friend?
"I'll go with you."
I didn't look back, only heard Zach shout in dissatisfaction behind me.
"Harrison ! I never realized you were this kind of person!"
I went straight to my room, and as I closed the door, Harrison followed me in.
"Why are you following me?"
I sat on the bed, and he stood in front of me, gently stroking my chin with his large hand.
"Do you remember Luna?"
Why bring her up now?
"I just feel like I know her. Who is she?" I didn't look at him, but I wrapped my arms around his waist. "If she's important to me, can you tell me about her?"
Was he going to hide this from me too?
Harrison 's deep voice came from above me. "Yes, she's a good friend of yours. You'll see her at the party."
Grandpa's birthday party meant she would definitely be there.
"Who will she come with? It won't be Zach, right?" I asked, worried. "I feel like he's not very serious."
"No," he said decisively. "But he's not a bad person, don't worry."
Not a bad person?
I looked skeptical. "He seems like a playboy."
Harrison seemed to trust Zach a lot. Otherwise, he wouldn't have let him stay at Blackwood Estate.
Even though Zach had flirted with me more than once, even in front of Harrison .
"That's just his facade," Harrison said softly, stepping back. "It's late. Get some rest."
Rest? I glanced at the time. It was just lunchtime.
"What about you? Did you come back just to explain things with Kaia?"
It seemed he had other things to do.
"I'm going to talk to her and make sure she doesn't come back."
He agreed so quickly that it surprised me.
"Why? Didn't you say you had things to investigate? Did you change the plan just because of me?"
He wasn't like this before.
Back then, Harrison would rather inconvenience her than allow her disrupt his plans.
"If you don't like her, I won't let her bother you."
Harrison was about to leave the bedroom when I instinctively grabbed his shirt.
I quickly let go.
It was nothing more than an unconscious sign of reluctance.
But he turned back and looked at me deeply, as if waiting for me to ask him to stay.
Harrison 's expectant gaze almost made me want to run away.
"It's fine. Go do your thing. I won't bother you."
I didn't want him looking at me so affectionately. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to control my feelings.
I only relaxed when I heard the door close.
Grandpa's birthday party would probably be another battle.
I just needed to pretend I didn't know anything.
What trouble could Mrs. Hoff possibly cause me?
I leaned against the headboard, my head aching. I wanted to sleep and let my my mind rest.
There was another knock at the door.
"Sienna , it's me. I'm coming in."
Zach again?
I didn't respond, and he let himself in.
He leaned against the doorframe and lazily asked, "Do you want to hear something that'll make you happy?"
I hadn't expected Zach to remember.
"Did Harrison leave?"
I heard footsteps approaching.
"He left, so you don't need to put on an act in front of me."
It seemed my act had been a complete failure in front of Zach.
"If you insist I'm pretending, there's nothing I can do." I shrugged. "Go ahead, tell me the good news you came all this way to share.”
Zach said directly, "Your stepmother, Classic , was arrested last month. The verdict hasn’t been announced yet, but she's suspected of illegally transferring assets abroad. It's hard to investigate."
I hadn't paid attention to Classic 's situation for a long time.
"If you say it's good news, then Classic must have treated me badly before." I tried to stay calm. "I heard Harrison sent his former lover, Elena, abroad. Is that true?"
If she went abroad, I couldn't get revenge.
I hoped Harrison was lying about that.
If he was still protecting Elena, I would have a reason to hate him.
Now he seemed to treat me well every day, which made it hard for me to hate him.
Zach's smile deepened.
"Sending her abroad would already be letting her off easy, but with Harrison 's personality, he wouldn't let Elena off that easily. She ruined many of his plans."
I was even more confused. "Ruined plans? What do you mean? I heard he liked Elena a lot before."
"Do you really think so?" Zach smirked. "Sienna , you were supposed to be an outsider. If Elena had merely loved Harrison unrequitedly, that would have been fine. But she helped his opponents and tried to drive a wedge between you and Harrison ."
