Chapter 118

Chapter 118
Sienna's pov

Harrison was too perceptive.

"No, I just got a little spooked." I clung to his hand, pretending to be really dependent on him, trying to snuggle into his arms. "It's my first day back, and I'm not used to the bed, so I didn't sleep well. Am I bothering you?"

I felt Harrison 's body stiffen slightly, then he slowly tightened his arms around me. "No, you're not bothering me."

What kind of tone was he using ? I couldn't tell. What was he thinking at this moment? Why were his emotions so hard to read?

I didn't say more, resting peacefully in his embrace and making myself look as docile as possible—something men usually liked.

"Don't be afraid, I'm here."

Harrison kissed my forehead gently, soothing me with a soft voice. "Go to sleep, I'll stay with you."

I shook my head and lifted it from his chest. "Why did you come over?"

Could he already be suspicious?

"I wanted to check on you." Harrison brushed the hair from my forehead. "If I'd known I'd wake you, I wouldn't have left you to sleep alone."

"I'm fine by myself!" I exclaimed quickly. "Besides, having someone suddenly next to me would make it even harder to sleep…"

I couldn't share a bed with Harrison now; it would be too easy to slip up.

Harrison chuckled lightly but didn't seem inclined to leave. His gaze unsettled me, driving away any remaining drowsiness.

"Stop staring at me and go rest. You have work tomorrow, right?"

I lay down after speaking, but Harrison suddenly leaned over and kissed me—a gentle, lingering sensation I had rarely experienced before.

Or maybe it only felt different because of how I felt now?
I only gave a light push, as if I was reluctant to resist.

But neither of us took it further.

Harrison 's grip gradually tightened as his breath grew heavier against mine.

Then he abruptly let go, his eyes still smoldering with unquenched desire.

"Sleep well. See you tomorrow."

He gave me one last, lingering look before turning and leaving the room. I lay there, breathing heavily, staring at the closed door, still processing what had happened.

Harrison let me go, even though I hadn't explicitly refused.

In the past, he would have ignored my protests and have his way with me.

"Men are such jerks." I muttered, glancing at the pristine sheets.

Harrison had dirtied these sheets more than once, leaving me with unpleasant memories.

The sheets could be changed, but the memories would always remain.

I wanted to forget, but I wouldn't allow myself to.

I lay awake for a long time, only dozing off when the sky began to lighten.

When I woke up, Harrison was already gone.

As I went downstairs, Martha was cleaning. She looked up and said, "Mrs. Blackwood, please have some breakfast. A doctor will be coming to check on you later."

A doctor? I instinctively tightened my grip on my wrist. "Why is a doctor coming? I'm not sick."

"You've lost your memory, haven't you? The doctor will check your condition to prevent any lasting effects."

I nodded slightly, feeling a bit anxious.

A doctor's examination could easily expose me.

I couldn't refuse because it would be even more suspicious.

Martha brought breakfast, and I casually asked, "Where's my old phone? I should have had one before I went to prison, right?"

I smirked inwardly. Harrison wouldn't have forgotten something as important as my phone. Did he want to cut off my contact with the outside world?

"Never mind, I'll ask him myself when he gets back." I quickly finished my breakfast and checked the time. "When is the doctor coming? If it's still early, I'd like to go out for a walk."

Just then, the doorbell rang, and Martha smiled. "They're here."

I couldn't help but feel nervous. Pretending to have amnesia could fool ordinary people, but not a doctor. If Harrison found out I was faking it…

The worry only lasted a moment. So what if he knew? If he kept me here, I'd continue my revenge. If he kicked me out, I'd find another way.

Martha opened the door, and a woman walked in. Even from her silhouette, she seemed familiar.

"Hello, Mr. Blackwood asked me to check on Ms. Price."

Her voice was soothing. Even though she was polite, I felt an inexplicable aversion to her.

"This way, please."

As she approached, I finally saw her face clearly.

"Ms. Price, hello."

She extended her right hand. "I'm Mr. Blackwood's appointed family doctor. My name is Kaia."

From her eyes alone, I knew I couldn't trust her.

"Ms. Price?"

Julian had often called me that, and I had allowed him to separate me from Harrison . But Kaia, being hired by Harrison , couldn't be unaware of our relationship. Was she deliberately disrespecting me??

"I'm sorry, are you talking to me?" I feigned surprise. "I'm Harrison 's wife. You should call me Mrs. Blackwood."

Then it clicked. I remembered where I'd seen Kaia before. In the photos Luna had sent me. She and Harrison had watched the sunrise together, looking very intimate.

"Sorry, Mrs. Blackwood. Mr. Blackwood said you had amnesia and didn't want to upset you, so I took the liberty of changing the address."

Kaia responded calmly, without any hint of anger, as if I was overthinking it. Why would Harrison let her examine me? Because he was sure I had amnesia and didn't care? Or was it another test?

"No problem, just remember for next time. Let's start the check-up; I have things to do later."

I was curious to see how she would examine me.

Kaia said nothing more, taking out instruments from her medical kit to measure my vitals. Everything was normal. After pressing certain spots on my head, she took out a pocket watch. It seemed like she was going to hypnotize me.

"Mrs. Blackwood, your physical condition is fine, ruling out any brain damage. I need to hypnotize you to find the cause of your amnesia."

I nodded but didn't agree. "Did Harrison approve this? He said he didn't want me to remember the past. If this treatment makes me remember, he wouldn't agree, right?"

Kaia didn't expect my response. She stared at me for a moment, then smiled.

"I didn't consider that. I'll inform Mr. Blackwood about the hypnosis. If he agrees, I'll ask for your consent again, as the patient's wishes are important."

Kaia's words sounded considerate, but I felt she was more complex than she seemed. Could she be the one Harrison truly loved?

The thought made me feel nauseous.
