Chapter 90 Going to the Special Operations Unit
Back in the room, Henry was sprawled out on the floor, keeping a close eye on Olivia, not daring to leave her side.
Olivia was trapped in a nightmare. In her dream, she was in a damp place, with dogs barking like they were right next to her. She struggled to open her eyes and saw iron bars all around her, with the barking dogs nearby.
She realized she was locked in a dog cage, and it was raining outside. It always seemed to rain in her dreams.
"Dad, where are you?" Olivia whispered in her dream.
No one answered her, just the sounds of barking dogs, rain, and footsteps.
"Drag her out, I want to kill her!"
The next moment, Olivia was yanked out of the cage and beaten badly.
A scream pierced the air, and Henry almost jumped up from the floor, then quickly held the trembling Olivia on the bed.
"Olivia, don't be scared, I'm here, I'm here!" Olivia was ice-cold, clutching Henry's collar tightly like it was her lifeline.
She was shaking all over. Henry rubbed her hands and feet to warm her up, even putting her hands inside his clothes to keep them warm.
"Olivia, don't be afraid, those are just memories, it's all over. Nothing like that will ever happen again, I promise. Olivia, open your eyes and look at me, okay?" Henry kept talking to her softly, and after an hour, Olivia finally woke up, with Henry sweating from anxiety.
"Henry."
"I'm here!"
Olivia didn't say anything; she just leaned into Henry's arms, feeling safe.
"I want to go to Silverpeak State. I want to see my dad!" Henry took a deep breath and held Olivia tightly.
"Okay."
Olivia fell asleep again shortly after waking up, and Henry stayed up all night. In the morning, Olivia was startled to see Henry when she woke up.
"Why are you in my room?"
Henry laughed. "Forgot? You insisted I stay last night. Olivia, you can't be irresponsible, right?"
Olivia was stunned, trying hard to remember but couldn't recall anything.
Seeing her like this, Henry chuckled and ruffled her hair. "Get up and go downstairs for breakfast. Mr. Taylor is speaking at today's seminar!"
Olivia nodded and hurried to the bathroom to wash up. Henry let out a sigh of relief.
They changed clothes and went to the dining hall for breakfast. Olivia ate a lot because she was very hungry, which made Henry feel better.
At the seminar, Parker talked about the criminology of Metamale, a study he did with Olivia. There weren't many subjects for this research, and Olivia had spent months in the archives, organizing over three hundred cases, including one she had experienced herself.
"Mr. Taylor is amazing. If I were on stage, I probably wouldn't be able to say a word!" Olivia sighed.
"Have you ever thought about going on stage? Mr. Taylor hopes you can be a teaching assistant at the police academy. You could start as a TA and pursue a graduate degree!"
Olivia thought for a moment. "I'll think about it after I come back from Silverpeak State."
Olivia's words stunned Henry. He turned to her, eyes wide with fear.
"Surprised? We agreed last night. You promised to take me to Silverpeak State. I want to see my dad!"
"Olivia, it's not that simple. It's dangerous there."
"Aren't you with me?" Olivia's question left Henry speechless.
Olivia smiled at Henry. "Actually, over the past six months, my memories have been coming back. It started with dreams about my dad. Scenes from eight years ago have been popping up in my mind. Henry, I need to find him. We can't let police officers like my dad die in vain, just like your colleague, Yosef!"
This was beyond what Henry expected. After the meeting, he took Olivia back to the room for a serious talk.
"Olivia, your mom won't agree to you going to Silverpeak State."
Olivia nodded. "That's why I can't tell her. And figuring out how to keep it from her, well, that's your job."
Henry was stunned. What did she mean by leaving it to him? How could he handle Autumn?
"Olivia, you're nuts. Autumn will kill me!"
Olivia leaned back on the sofa, arms crossed. "When you two were plotting, did you ever think I might strangle you?"
Henry laughed, but this was serious. It was impossible to hide it from Autumn, so he refused.
"Deceiving elders is unacceptable. Unless Autumn agrees that you can go to Silverpeak State, you have to stay in Silverlight City. Drew is looking for you everywhere, Olivia. This is no joke, and you can't take it lightly!"
Eight years had passed, and that demon was still looking for her. Olivia smirked.
"You said it yourself, they're looking for me. What does that mean? Some things can't be avoided, like those once-buried memories that will eventually resurface. Instead of being caught off guard, why not turn the tables? Henry, my dad is still waiting for me to bring him home."
Henry didn't speak; he just held Olivia's hand.
"I still insist on getting Autumn's consent, Olivia. We can't let the people who care about us down!"
Alright, it was a wasted effort. Olivia was a bit frustrated.
"My mom won't agree."
Henry thought differently. "Autumn disagrees because she thinks you're not strong enough yet, that you can't protect yourself. But Olivia, now you have me, don't you?"
Olivia rolled her eyes at Henry. "Forget it. Back in Emerald City, I was stabbed several times, and you were nearby. What happened? I almost died. Drew isn't just a knife-wielding criminal; his methods are extremely cruel! None of his subordinates are mentally stable. So I've discussed it with Mr. Schmidt, and I'll be going to the Special Operations Unit for six months of special training."
Henry looked at Olivia in surprise. Special Operations Unit training? He didn't know about that.
"Olivia, not just anyone can get into the Special Operations Unit!"
Olivia nodded. "I know, you came from the Special Operations Unit, not just you, but your sister Wilhelmina too. She's the most impressive female officer I've ever seen! I want to become as formidable as Wilhelmina. Otherwise, I won't be able to protect myself against Drew."
Mentioning Wilhelmina made Henry emotional. "Can you tell me about her? Is she already..."
Olivia held Henry's hand tightly. "I haven't fully remembered everything yet, Henry, but we will find her."
