Chapter 89 Something Went Wrong
Her gut told her Henry had swiped her bag.
"I cleaned up, all the clothes are done!"
Olivia felt like she was about to lose it.
"No way, Henry, are you nuts? Those are my clothes!" The thought of Henry washing her clothes made Olivia super uncomfortable.
"You were exhausted, so I thought I'd help out!" Henry said. Olivia felt helpless; this "help" was really...
"Henry, my underwear was in there." Olivia said.
"I washed those too, no need to thank me!" Henry replied.
Seeing Olivia fuming, Henry just looked down and grinned, ignoring her words.
"Come on, it's not a big deal. We're all friends here, just lending a hand! Let's go! Mr. Taylor called and said he wants to introduce you to someone."
Olivia grabbed her phone, still annoyed, and left. Henry picked up the room card Olivia had forgotten and shut the door.
The banquet hall was packed with colleagues, both local and international. As Henry and Olivia walked in, Parker spotted them, and they looked like a perfect pair.
"Henry, Olivia, over here!" Parker waved them over.
"Let me introduce you, Dr. Diaz, the top international virologist. Olivia, you've read a lot of Dr. Diaz's papers, right?"
Olivia smiled and nodded, reaching out to greet Chris Diaz, "Dr. Diaz, it's great to meet you!"
Chris smiled back and shook her hand, "I heard you're Parker's student. Didn't expect his student to be so lovely!"
Henry frowned, his eyes on their clasped hands. Luckily, Olivia let go quickly, or Henry might've stepped in.
"Henry, you don't look too happy to see me!" Chris knew Henry, but it was rare to see him with a woman.
"You know you're not welcome, you still showed up?" Henry said with disdain.
Chris just laughed.
"Mr. Taylor invited me personally. Is this how you treat guests, Henry? Not very nice!" Chris's tone showed he was good friends with both Henry and Parker.
They sat down, and people kept coming over to greet them, mostly for Chris.
"Henry, I heard you have Blue Flame, is that true?" Chris looked excited, but Olivia's face went pale at the mention.
Blue Flame? Olivia's mind started racing. Why did that name sound so familiar? She felt lost in her thoughts. Henry called her name twice, but she didn't respond.
Parker noticed and quickly grabbed Olivia's hand. She looked up, eyes full of confusion, making Parker nervous.
"Olivia, did you remember something?" Parker's words slowly brought her back.
"I think I've heard of Blue Flame, Parker. It feels like it's inside me..." Before she could finish, Henry hugged her tightly.
"Olivia, you're mistaken. There's no Blue Flame. Trust me, okay?" Henry's heart pounded as he held her close.
Parker was also flustered and began pressing several pressure points on Olivia's head, leaving Chris stunned.
"Parker, what's wrong with her?" Chris asked, but Parker and Henry just glared at him.
Olivia leaned on Henry's shoulder, feeling her eyelids get heavy, and slowly drifted off to sleep.
"Take her back to the room. I'll get some medicine for her. You stay with her tonight!" Parker told Henry, who then carried Olivia back to the hotel room before rushing out to buy the medicine.
Chris followed the whole time, and when he saw what Parker had bought, his jaw dropped.
"Parker, does Olivia have a mental health issue?"
"You're the one with issues. Go away and let me help her!" Parker shouted.
Chris shifted uncomfortably and stood by the door.
Henry came out from inside, and the three of them went to his room.
"Parker, Olivia seems to be getting worse!" Henry said, worried.
Parker fell silent, sitting down on the sofa.
"She'll remember eventually, Henry. Some things can't be hidden! The process of regaining her memory will be even more torturous for her! Aren't you curious about what she went through?" Parker smiled bitterly, taking off his glasses.
"Back then, Austin infiltrated the enemy camp and successfully destroyed Drew's drug factory, ruining their core technology, Blue Flame! Drew knew Austin's identity and, in a fit of rage, tortured him to extract the formula, but Austin held strong. Eventually, they found Olivia and used her to threaten Austin, even going so far as to use her as a test subject for Blue Flame!"
Parker looked at Henry, "They injected different reagents into her, and finally, with Olivia, they successfully tested the best formula for Blue Flame!"
Henry quickly stood up, pacing back and forth in the room. Chris was stunned, nervously watching the two in front of him.
"That girl was once a test subject for Blue Flame, but how did she survive? Since I came into contact with this stuff, I've never seen anyone able to quit it! How did she do it?" Chris asked.
Looking back, Parker felt that the scene from eight years ago was like hell.
"It took her half a year to quit. I can't even remember how many times she was resuscitated! She went mad, self-harmed, attempted suicide, but each time she was on the brink of death, she came back. Henry, she was fifteen that year!"
Henry punched the wall, unable to vent his anger any other way.
"For Olivia, it was a nightmare, with repeated suicide attempts. We had no choice, really no choice, but to erase her memory! Henry, if her memory returns, she will die!" Parker shed tears, and Chris, standing nearby, was also moved to tears.
"Parker, Olivia should have antibodies in her body." Chris suggested.
"Shut up! If you dare to target her, I'll kill you!" Parker, usually calm, was so angry that he cursed, showing how much this matter touched his bottom line.
"I'm just saying, I see her condition isn't good, her body functions are deteriorating. Should we include her in my research plan?"
Chris was met with glares from both of them again, and he wisely shut up. Henry sat across from Parker.
"Instead of letting Olivia be tormented by these past memories, it's better to let her regain her memory. I believe she can accept the past." Henry said.
