The Brains Working Today
The Brains Working Today
Walking around aimlessly, Lilith felt an eerie feeling crawl up her back. She eyed the scenery, the death of the plants, the decay of not only the castle they stood in but everything around them. A small amount of light from afar caught her eyes, and she looked to the others to see if they saw it as well.
Liam nodded. "We see it too Lil…what the hell is that?”
"'I-I don’t know, but we need to check it out. Maybe it will help us figure out what’s going on and how we can get out of here.”
All agreeing, she turned her attention to the light that gleamed from the unknown building. As the six walked, a pristine hotel came into view and Samantha’s mouth dropped.
"How is this still standing, when everything else is destroyed?”
Remaining silent, Lilith went to open the door, but Noah stepped in front of her, his eyes white. "You and Samantha get in the middle of us okay?” She started to object, but Jayden cut his eyes.
"Lil not now. We don’t know what or who is there, and we’re just trying to protect you both.” She nodded, and Samantha and she positioned themselves between the brothers.
The sound of pleasured moans filled the entire hotel as the group stood in the lobby. Liam looked around to see if anyone else could hear it. He could barely make out Samantha’s face, but the red tinge on her cheeks was clearly visible.
"Okay, so I’m not the only person who hears someone getting worked over. Good to know." He said.
Silently, they followed the groans and ended up outside a large office. Lilith couldn’t help but feel the sense of Déjà vu as Noah’s hand touched the oak door.
"OH MY UHH…YESSS!!!”
A woman’s screams radiated through it. Lilith turned to the others and saw they bore the same expression as hers. They said nothing, but it was clear that they really didn’t want to see what was behind the door. Noah turned the knob and entered, the light in the room surprising him. As the rest entered, the sound of flesh colliding against flesh forced their eyes towards the desk and their mouths fell open. For all the Rubicons they’d attended, the scene still caught them off guard.
"I’M CUMMING!”
The woman screamed into the air; her eyes tightly closed. With her back deeply arched, her legs shook as the man thrust deeply inside her. His eyes were open, their milky white appearance both made Lilith want to stare and look away.
He bit his bottom lip and retched his head back. "You have another one in there for me?”
His thick accent was hard to place. Lilith looked at his ivory skin glisten, tattoos covered his body like Braille. She tilted her head realizing they were words. Her eyes darted to the woman whose shrills confirmed she was a banshee. Still thrusting inside the woman, he looked at her and smiled.
"All my visions find themselves on my body. The name is Calchas. Nice to finally meet the beautiful Succubus queen.” Her mouth dropped, and she felt Mason’s hand on her back. Calchas laughed. "Don’t worry… as I said she’s beautiful, but not my type. Besides she was always meant to have four, not five.” Looking past them both, he eyed Samantha hungrily. "Now the sorceress, that’s another story.”
Samantha sucked her teeth and glared at him. "Are you really hitting on me while you’re fucking another woman?”
His laugh erupted through the room. "Keep looking at me like that...and I might finish early.”
Lilith could feel the heat shedding from Samantha’s body. She stepped past the brothers, her eyes almost glowing. "WHO THE FUC-“
Lilith immediately joined her side. Placing her hand on her shoulder, she tried her best to calm her friend. "How do you know us?”
Calchas didn’t respond. His eyes bore into Samantha as if he could see her very soul. He dug his nails into the woman’s back steadying himself as he rammed harder. He tilted his head. "Don’t look away honey.” Samantha felt prickles up her skin. She was seething, her anger leaving her almost shaking yet she couldn’t look away. Calchas bit his bottom lip as he released his seed into the banshee. Pulling himself out, his eyes danced as he watched Samanthas' wander to his shaft. “Get dressed…I have a meeting.” He said sternly. Without another word, the woman grabbed her belongings and exited the room.
"You’re so disrespectful.” Samantha’s voice finally broke free.
"Not at all...just having a little fun before this celibacy I’m going to endure.”
Jayden cocked his head and Calchas turned to speak to him as if he could read his mind. "The soon to be wife is going to make me to prove I love her.” He raised his hand for dramatic flair while putting on his clothes. "EVEN THOUGH…I know deep inside, she’ll want to fuck me as much as I want to her.” His eyes went back to Samantha, and he winked. "But future wife…I’ll wait as long as you need me to. You are certainly worth it.” Samantha's eyes were cut into slits, her anger only heightening as she looked at the smug expression on his face. Placing his long purple hair into a knot on his head, he teased her. "Quit looking at me like that honey, or I’ll get sidetracked again.”
"I’M NOT YOUR FUCKING HONEY, FUTURE WIFE OR WHATEVER YOUR DISGUSTING ASS THINKS.” She sized him up. "I don’t even like men.”
A laugh escaped his throat. "Well, I would call you baby but that certainly doesn’t fit you, it’s too innocent. Neither does sweetheart or lovely. But honey…that hits the ear right.” He folded his arms to his chest. "And don’t start us off by telling lies. You’re not attracted to a particular gender, you’re attracted to who stirs you mentally.” He stepped into her. "And trust, I’ll do much more than light a fire in that mind of yours.”
Samantha stared at him as if he was insane. "I’m about five seconds from killing you.”
Calchas pouted. " But if you kill me, how am I going to do that thing you’ve always secretly wanted to try, for our six-month wedding anniversary? Look, before you yell at me, just think about the labyrinth that’s in my noggin, and tell me you aren’t the least bit intrigued.”
Against her better nature, Samantha’s face reddened, and she remained silent. There was something about the way his words resonated in her that was getting under her skin. His devilishly handsome face adding to the unidentifiable feeling.
He grinned at her, before turning his attention to Lilith. "To answer your question, I’ve been waiting for you all to arrive…though I didn’t think it would take this long. Goddamn Melanie getting in the way of shit.”
Noah stared at him. "You know Melanie?”
He nodded. "Mhm, and you know her just as well. Look, I’ve been waiting on you all for some time, so you have to excuse me for being a little forward. Since you’re all still foggy from that bullshit they pulled, I’ve been granted the ability to answer three of your question...though I still have to fucking talk in riddles.” He rolled his eyes and looked up. "Shits annoying as hell by the way.”
Not wanting to waste their questions, they all thought long and hard. Finally, Noah spoke. "How did Katrina play into all of this?”
Calchas pointed proudly. 'GREAT QUESTION INCUBUS KING! I can mauver a bit around that one. Katrina is as two-faced as when she takes off that heavy makeup she wears.” He smirked. "Well wore- You know, Melanie picked a horrible name for her alter ego. Believe half of what you see and none of what you heard when it came to her. Every bit of the life she created was a façade. Don’t mourn pretend ghosts, no matter how real they feel. Melanie belonged to no one, though she murdered the one who did.” He stared at them, waiting for them to put the pieces together. Calchas put up his finger. "Be careful of your next question. Don’t ask what you already know. Accept the truth, hurt, but don’t let denial get in the way.”
Noah’s face hardened to stone, at the revelation that sat before him.
" Don’t mourn pretend ghost, no matter how real they feel”
He knew Calchas was wise, and as such he would know Noah didn’t mourn Katrina. If that was the case, he would also know the one person that he did. His eyes whitened and he seethed in anger the realization hitting him hard. He felt Lilith rub his arm, and he tried to calm himself.
Mason breathed in deep. "How did we get here?”
Calchas clapped his hand. "ANOTHER GREAT QUESTION! YOU ALL ARE GOOD AT THIS! I brought you here, we needed a safe place to talk. Sorry about the pain, admittedly I was pretty pissed that it took you all so long.” They all glared and him and he threw up his hands. "Hey what can I say, I’m a bit of an asshole. Anyway, the moment these two stopped acting like they weren’t digging one another and completed the claiming ceremony; I could officially get out of this hell hole and start my real task.”
He eyed Samantha intensely but didn’t say anything towards her, though her red face told him she knew she had something to do with what he was talking about. "Now that you’re here, WE CAN LEAVE but you needed to see what happened to one of your realms. I mean me personally, I wouldn't set up shop here, but that’s your choice.” He couldn’t resist. "Honey, can we live in the mortal realm though? I’m really tired of living among all of this? I mean the other supernaturals that are here, belong here, but I-I certainly would prefer something different.” Seeing her cut her eyes, he threw up his hands. "Got it. Table the discussion for later.”
Liam cleared his throat, and everyone’s eyes darted to him. Jayden grabbed his lips. "DON’T.YOU.SAY.A DAMN.THING!”
Liam pushed him off. "FUCK OFF! The brain is working today!” Twisting his lips, he looked at the seer. “Okay, here’s my issue. We’ve been asleep I’m assuming a while because you keep saying it took us longer than you thought it would. And Sam said the dust was potent enough to keep us that way. Fairy dust isn’t like cocaine, you can’t just make it in your basement. THEREFORE Lilith, a royal would have eventually picked up on someone taking her blood to make more. So my question is where did the royal Succubus blood in the fairy dust come from? “
Everyone’s mouth dropped except for Calchas who only grinned. Mason placed his hands on his hips. 'Jayden literally got you to chase a laser beam for an hour the other day, and you just made that mental deduction.”
Liam shrugged. "Told yall, the brain is working today.”
Calchas grabbed Liam’s cheeks and squeezed them. "THAT.WHAT.I’M.TALKING.ABOUT!” Clasping his hands together, he looked from each brother to Lilith. "Lilith, you’d be surprised at how much your little sister detests you. The longer she spies on you, the more she hates how much the Succubus and everyone feels the opposite.”
Her eyes widened. "I don’t-“
Calchas shook his head silencing her. His milky eyes told her something he couldn’t verbally say. After a moment he continued. "Minds cloud, but books that have been protected by magic, well they keep the very things others want hidden. Your sister may be royal, but she’s too blinded by rage to see the big loophole she left glaring others MUCH MORE royal than her in THEIR faces.”
Liam jumped up and down at the thought of a loophole knowing that was his specialty. He punched Noah in the arm in excitement and shouted.
"MOTHERFUCKER! I KNOW HOW TO GET US TO REMEMBER EVERYTHING!”
Calchas winked and saying nothing, he snapped his fingers, and they all disappeared.
