Chapter 53 Find It!
Her heart suspended in the air for a fragment of a moment.

She involuntarily curled her fist, her nails digging into her palms tightly.

‘’Mother are you okay?’’ Anna called out, her face wary as she stood to her feet.

But Gigi barely heard that.

Everything was such a blur and her face that had once been clouded with color lost all its color, anger brewing in her.

‘’How can you be so careless?!’’ She snapped, her tone making Harmonica step back in shock.

She backed off a bit, watching as Gigi stepped forward, her face turning purple from anger.

‘’I—I kept it here. Where no one could find it. I—don’t understand.’’ Anna murmured, shaking her head in disbelief.

‘’I’ll find it immediately.’’ She continued, crouching down again.

She averted her gaze from Gigi, her hands digging into the pile of clothes as she searched for the recorder.

‘’Oh you better find it!’’ Gigi’s annoyed voice came, the taunting and mockery eminent in it.

Anna had never heard her sound so cruel.

Not since she had something against her.

She stood up on her feet, her eyes bloodshot as she stared at Gigi with defiance.

‘’I will find it! Now leave.’’ She uttered, waving a dismissive hand Gigi’s way.

Gigi stared at the disrespect, her lips pursing due to anger.

She let out a chuckle, her feet moving slowly as she walked towards Anna.

A scary smile curled up her lips. While he eyes held hostility as she finally reached in front of Anna, stopping just in front of her.

‘’I would no longer tolerate your disrespect. You think I am foolish just because I’ve been calm with you this days?’’ She asked, another chuckle spilling out of her lips, her tongue clicking against each other as she snickered.

‘’I am Gigi DiCaprio. I always have a plan. And right now, that recorder is the only thing stopping you from being under my feet. So find it!’’ She breathed out, gritting her teeth as she spoke every word with venom.

She didn’t forget to cork Anna a scary smile before turning around and leaving the room.

Anna stood rooted to the floor for a while, her body shaking uncontrollably.

She finally sank to the floor, her hands shaky as she tried to steady her breathing.

She had never felt so scared in her life.

She was starting to think that sending Gigi to her Step-mother had been a terrible idea.

Gigi was way scarier. 

And she couldn’t quite decipher her.

Her hands brushed against the clothes as she tried to think about where she had last dropped the recorder.

If she remembered correctly, she had dug her hands into the pile of clothes and dropped it in there just so finding it would be really easy.

She shook her head, her brow knotting in confusion.

Who else could dig into her things except Alex?

But then he was with her throughout the trip.

He hadn’t entered the room since they came back.

The door to the room creaked open, startling her.

She wiped the sweat by the side of her head, standing up to face Alex whose brows were raised in questions as he stared at the state of the room.

Anna chuckled nervously, scratching the back of her neck. ‘’Can’t find my warmer.’’ She uttered, wrapping her arms around her shoulders like she was cold.

Alex nodded, averting his gaze from hers.

She watched as he walked towards his closet, getting lost in there.

Heaving a sigh, she crouched down and started to pick up her clothes and place them in a suitcase while she arranged some and place in the drawer.

By the time Alex came out, he had already changed into something cozy and homey.

Anna swallowed just by staring at him.

‘’Earth to Anna.’’ He called out, snapping his finger in front of her face.

That was when Anna realized that she had been drooling while staring at him longer than necessary.

She blinked her eyes away from him, red creeping up her cheeks as embarassment started to set in.

She heard Alex chuckle softly.

‘’Here.’’ He uttered, making her head snap to him.

He took her hand in his and placed a pair of warmers in it, her heart softening as she saw it.

A new round of red crept up her cheeks, burning them in the process.

‘’Since you couldn’t find yours, you can keep this.’’ He muttered, slipping his hands off hers while she held the warmers tightly in her arms.

‘’Thank you.’’ She murmured, watching as he headed for the door.

‘’I won’t be sleeping in today.’’ He murmured, his hands grasping the knob as he twisted ut and pulled it open.

‘’Are you going out?’’ She asked, her eye skimming through his clothe.

He was going out like that?

‘’Yes. Have a great night Anna.’’ He murmured.
Without waiting for her response, he stepped out of the room, closing the door behind him.

Anna sighed, plopping on the bed with the warmers in her hand.

She took it up, placing it on her nose and inhaling sharply.

Her nose begged for more as she inhaled all of Alex’s scent.

Taking it off her nose, her hands hovered over the fabric for a bit before she slipped into it.

‘’Have a great night Alex.’’ She murmured, slipping under the covers.

She got rid of the pillows that were placed at the middle of the bed.

The demarcation that usually came between she and Alex every night.

Since he was not going to be sleeping in tonight, she might as well have the whole bed to herself.

She threw the pillows to the floor and widened her leg, a smile curling up her lips as she hugged the fluffy mattress.

She later closed her eyes, getting plunged into sleep.

Deeper into the night, the sound of the door creaking open reverberated around the room.

Anna could swear she saw a figure, walked into the room.

Then the bed dipped and she felt a warm body pressed against her back.

She couldn’t quite tell if it was real or just a dream.

But the scent of Alex suddenly wafted up her nostrils.

She turned around and pulled him closer, sinking her nose into the base of his shoulder as she hugged him tightly.
