Thirty-seven
Ashley was already in bed with Maeluthe the next day when they decided to come back. The woman will not allow Isiaah to stay there for long either, especially since she will neglect her work.
What happened was one of the saddest days of her life. Being true to herself, being able to do what she wants — she will never forget everything.
Ashley couldn’t believe the woman, and she just got her to laugh. “What? Aren’t you gonna tell me what’s happening? How come they know that? They knew. . . more than me? You’ve been so unfair to me, Mae!”
Mae immediately lowered the small bag she was carrying and sat on the sofa there. For a long time, the couple was also pressured because of Isiaah’s desire to accompany him.
Fortunately, the girl even convinced him to let her talk to Ashley first so that she could explain.
“Come on, tell me,” her friend’s curiosity. “I wasn’t aware that Isai had a love life, but I am happy for him.”
“I’m sorry, Ash. I just wanted to tell you why everything is so messed up. I didn’t know that Isiaah and I would meet again, and I also planned to take care of the child alone, didn’t I?” Maeluthe said honestly.
Ashley immediately hugged her tightly. “I understand. You went through so much, Mae. I’m happy for you.”
The two laughed, which Mae appreciated so much. Even though she didn’t ask to have a friend who could help her with everything, she met Ashley, who would also do everything for her to take care of her and the child in her womb.
“You and Brylle. . . when are you going to have your own family?” Maeluthe sighed as the conversation deepened.
Ashley sniffed quickly before rolling her eyes. “No way! Kairus will definitely kill him.”
The faces of the two, especially Maeluthe, were slightly serious. “Come to think of it, I don’t know much about the woman yet,” she thought to herself.
“That will be your decision, Ash.”
Smiling, Ashley nodded. “I know. But I’m also used to asking for Kuya’s decision. It’s my choice. Kuya’s been so good to me. I know he’s just becoming OA because he wants to protect me, and I want it too. His my second love, my first love is Dad.”
Maeluthe’s heart was immediately softened by what she heard. Maybe it’s because she can’t feel like she has a brother. He also misses his father very much.
He was once his princess.
“Thank you for all your help, Ash, I won’t forget everything. I wish you happiness.”
The two talked for a few more minutes, then Ashley helped the woman pack.
“Where’s Mae?” Isiaah asked after entering Ashley’s house.
The owner of the house let out a deep breath at his behavior. “And when did you find out my passcode?” she growled at the man who ignored her and continued to search for her girlfriend.
Ashley is also used to them. The misery and infamy of these men were not new to her. It is actually okay for her as long as Kairus is happy with them.
He has no other desire for his brother but to be happy, even if his problem does not end.
“Hey, Isaw! You are so rude!” Ashley shouted before disturbing the now tender lovebirds. “Don’t you dare be flirty in my house!”
After Maeluthe’s endless gratitude, the two also continued inside Isiaah’s car. They were already carrying the woman’s few belongings, and nothing could match Isiaah’s pleasure and excitement.
They say that you can’t always have something if you get it or achieve it as soon as possible. He wanted to prove all that wrong. Knowing people to give up and quit is immeasurable by time, how long or how short the relationship lasted.
Maeluthe’s relationship with him was not and will never be.
The woman clung tightly to Isaiah before speaking. She feels mixed — hungry, dizzy, depressed for no reason, happy.
Before her mother died, he even talked to her. She wished her to find her happiness. Even though Maeluthe still didn’t understand the reason for those words, she knew it would pour the next few hours into thanking the parents.
For loving her. . . for guiding her all throughout and for granting their wish for her.
She thought that her parents had talked to the Lord, asking that she might be given someone who could understand and love as her parents did.
She will thank them for life.
“Where are we going?” Maeluthe asked. She barely shook her head to dispel her thoughts. She was also constantly watering her mouth because of the foods she could see on her cellphone.
With the steering wheel on his left hand, Isiaah gripped Maeluthe’s hands tightly with his right. He gently squeezes and caresses them. “You’ll meet them.”
“Them?”
“My parents.”
It was as if there was a start button in her brain, and just seconds after you heard it, the horses inside her were already roaring. Her heart was beating so fast.
“Three million. . . Don’t come near my son.”
One by one, those words exploded like bombs in the back of the woman’s mind. For a moment, she was scared. What if he could hear hurtful words about the lady again? She has nothing to be proud of. She has nothing right now except the child who is still in her womb.
“Leave my child alone, Miss Legson. Do that. . . while I’m still talking fine with you.”
Her thoughts stopped at the same time as the car. Maeluthe quickly confronted Isiaah, who also immediately kissed her on the forehead, calming her down.
“Are you nervous?”
Maeluthe honestly nodded. Nothing will happen if she fakes how she feels now. “I am scared. Isiaah, I am nothing compared to the women around you. I have nothing to be proud of, and I have nothing to tell. I have nothing to give. I have nothing to give, to raise or pursue–”
“You have one,” the man stopped her and immediately confronted her. “You have me. You have my heart. I want to introduce you to my parents so that you can be proud, not to get their opinion about our relationship. I won’t let them touch, ruin, or hurt you. You also don’t have to push everything you can just to make them like you.”
Isiaah stopped talking then kissed Maeluthe’s hand. Just then, the woman almost melted. The man knew very well how it would get her over and over again. “They will, eventually. You’re the most amazing woman in the world.”
